GIVE THANKS! In 1978, a young seminary gradu- ate named Henry Smith was strug- gling to find work and coming to terms with a degenerative eye con- dition that would eventually leave him legally blind. Despite those hardships, Henry found hope in 2 Corinthians 8:9 which says, For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his pov- erty might become rich.” (NIV) From that verse he penned the words to the song “Give Thanks,” one of the most beloved songs of our time. Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One, Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son… And now let the weak say, "I am strong," Let the poor say, "I am rich, Because of what the Lord has done for us," Give Thanks… Years later, a young worship leader named Don Moen from Hosanna Integrity Music started the church worship refromation by recording Henry’s song, “Give Thanks” help- ing to carry it around the world. To- day, you can hum “Give Thanks” at almost any church in the world, no matter the country or the language, and someone will recognize this simple song of thanksgiving and trust. When was the last time you gave thanks from your heart for the loved ones God has placed in your life? Paul stated in Ephesians 1:16 (NIV) “I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” The phrase give thanks comes from two Greek words when put together describe: an outpouring of grace and of wonderful feelings that freely flow from the heart in re- sponse to someone or something. This is the word Paul used when he gave thanks for the Ephesian church. In most of the epistles, Paul used this same word when he gave thanks for the people he loved. So when Paul says, “I have not stopped giving thanks for you...” This means that he thought of the Ephesians, wonderful feeling of thankfulness would swell up in his heart. The idea is: “I can’t help but thank God for you. My feelings concerning you cannot be con- tained. How I thank God for you!” In Colossians 1:3, Paul prays again by saying, “We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you.” (NIV) In 1 Thessalonians 1:2 he prays a similar prayer for the believers: “We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers.” (NIV) In 2 Thessalonians 1:3 he writes, “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so… the love every one of you has for each other is increas- ing.” (NIV) The fact that Paul gave thanks when he prayed for his dearest friends reminds us that we must be thankful for the relationships God has put in our lives. Whenever we think of our closest circle of friends, a deep sense of gratefulness, thankfulness, and appreciation should well up within us! So when you’re praying stop for a moment and reflect on all God has done in your life and then give Him thanks. Then think of all He has done in your life through those who are closest to you. When you realize how valuable those relation- ships have been to you, you’ll be able to freely, joyfully, and unre- servedly thank God for such pre- cious friends! Let’s keep the transformation going in our day: Give Thanks with a grateful heart. Blessings, Jeff Wiedenmeyer

Give thanks with a grateful heart, Give thanks to the Holy One,

Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son… And now let the weak say, "I am strong," Let the poor say, "I am rich, Because of

what the Lord has done for us," Give Thanks…

Years later, a young worship leader named Don Moen from Hosanna Integrity Music started the church worship refromation by recording Henry’s song, “Give Thanks” help-ing to carry it around the world. JBQ Practice Sunday Nights @ 6:00 p.m.

JBQ Meet First Assembly Fargo Sat. November 10 @ 10:00 a.m.

In need of officials and volunteers! Please contact pastor Mary Ann if you are willing to help!

A big congratulations to all our Quizzers on your First Quiz Meet in October. You all did awesome!

A Big thanks to

everyone who helped with Fall Fest and

making it such a great

success! Thanks for

bringing candy too!

We are very excited about this years Christmas Program! It will be December 16th @ 6:00 p.m. But we need your help to make this years program come to life. There are many opportunities to be in-volved. We need stage directors, some one to work with costumes, light and sound technicians and someone to work with props. Please, if you are interested in helping in anyway contact Pastor Mary Ann ASAP. Thank you so much! You won’t want to miss this awesome opportunity of ministry.

On October 14th Patty Durbin came down to children’s church and talked to the kids about China! This summer the kids raised money for BGMC through the 800 club. They raised more then $800, they raised over $1600. What the kids found out from Patty Durbin is that the money they raised went to help orphans in China.

Jamestown, Watford City and Williston Assemblies had a goal of $5,000 to bless girls in an orphanage that Missionaries Paul and Patty Durbin are associated with. This combined effort raised nearly $10,000. Thank you kids! Our kids were a big part of this giving effort! We have given about $4,600 this year for BGMC so far. Pastor Mary Ann is challenging the kids to reach the $6,000 mark before the end of the year! We are so proud of our kids! Just keep on giving on!

Breach Youth Church

Pursuing the moments,

Kenneth Curtis

I want to say that God has blessed the Breach Youth Group at First Assembly in so many ways. He is bringing in volunteers with a heart for students and working in the lives of our stu-dents. Right now there are 27 of us coming together on Wednesday nights where God is mending broken hearts and building student leaders.

God used Youth Convention this year to show his love and affection to 20 to our students. Each student left Youth Convention having been given a deeper love for God and a sense of His purpose for them. Students are getting excited about God and what God can do in and through them!

As we look to November we have an event called the Bigger and Better Bowling Bash! It will be a fun night for students to come together, do some bowling and then team up to do a scavenger hunt. Cost is $10.00 per student. If you are a student or have a student come get involved!
