Our Starting Place….

For the plan – looked at existing CNAPs and modified Orange County’s (THANK YOU!)

For the partners – two existing groups

• Families CAN (Coalition for Activity and Nutrition)

What we did to get started• Drafted an initial plan and submitted it to

our FNS partners

• Set up our first meeting in August

• Brought the plan to Families CAN in September and finalized it

Challenges and Solutions

• Challenge: getting partners to attend meetings regularly (we are a large county geographically)– Solution: FIELD TRIPS!

• Challenge: Starting a new group from scratch without adding ‘extra’ work – Solution: Focus on working smarter, not

harder, positive attitude, drawing upon already established relationships and goals

Our Peer Exchange withSan Francisco – we highly recommend it!

How the Peer Exchange Helped:•We were able to learn in greater detail about our neighbor-County’s program
