SINE NOMINE

LITURGY FOR ALL SAINTS (Standing)

Behold, a great multitude, which no one can number, out of every nation and of all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, with palm branches in their hands, And they cry with a loud voice saying, "Salvation belongs to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb."

These are the ones of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and the holes in the ground. They were stoned to death, they were sawn in two, they were slain with the sword, they were burned at the stake, they were killed by an assassin's bullet.

They were destitute, persecuted, tormented. These are the ones who have come out of great tribulation; they have washed their robes and cleansed them in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of God, and they worship day and night in the temple.

They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their Shepherd, and will guide them to springs of living water. And God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.

(Sitting)

Almighty God, Redeemer and Sustainer, we offer you thanks and praise for the holy lives of all your servants -- the prophets, apostles, and martyrs -- who have shone forth as lights in the world and sacrificed their lives in testimony of their faith.

We thank you for the triumphant fellowship of all the saints in glory. We remember before you all who have been called to the more immediate presence of the Savior, and especially those most dear to us and our congregation. We rejoice in our present fellowship with them, in our continuing hope, and in the promise of eternal joy. Let the great cloud of witnesses, the innumerable company of those who have gone before and entered into rest, be to us an example of godly life. May we run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith; and may we obtain entrance into your eternal kingdom, and with the glorious assembly of the saints, worship and adore you.

(Sung) In the name of Jesus, Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The flowers placed in the Sanctuary are given in memory of Phyllis Trivette and in remembrance of Jack and Treva Trivette’s wedding anniversary by the Trivette Family.

The flowers placed in the narthex are in recognition and honor of our veterans.

COVID-19 Masking The Joint Board strongly encourages all in-person worshippers to wear a mask.

Brunson Angel Tree Christmas is right around the corner and that means that it’s time for our 3rd Annual Angel Tree supporting Brunson Elementary School! Throughout the years, we have been able to increase the number of children who will receive a present when getting one from someone else might not happen. The Missions Committee is excited to be able to help even more kids and we know that Calvary will be able to knock it out of the park again! Instructions can be found at the link below or by scanning the QR code on your ornament.

Christmas Cards We are unveiling for this holiday season a set of four Christmas notecards featuring our two Christmas windows, the Sanctuary door in holiday raiments, and Sean McNamara’s illustration of our lovefeast meal. These will be $5 dollars for a set of four and are available for reservation by emailing Jacob at [email protected].

A Framing Project We have found a collection of 8 architectural renderings of our church building for the 1962 addition. As a preservation project, we would like to have them framed so they can be displayed appropriately for everyone to enjoy.  It is our hope that a few of our members will be interested in “sponsoring” the framing of these prints in memory or honor of a loved

one. In doing so, there will be a three-lined brass dedicatory plaque framed within the finished picture. The total cost per rendering for professional double-matte, mahogany stained wood frame, dedication plaque, and preservation glass is $300. The renderings are currently displayed in the second floor hallway (outside the Parlor) where you can view them all and choose which one you would like to sponsor. We will take care of the framing and all other logistics. Thank you for helping us creatively preserve the history of our congregation for generations to come!

Bible Study You are invited to participate in a Zoom Bible Study taught by Pastor Lane each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. The study includes a time of intercessory prayer followed by study and discussion. We hope you will plan to join us! To access the study, please use the following ZOOM link:

Fellowship Dinner Today at 4 p.m., Barbara and Bill Howard will once again host our church family at their farm for some safe fun, in-person fellowship! We’re planning a hotdog dinner (we’ll provide all the things and have one person grilling and serving) and a bonfire, so bring your own s’mores roasting stick and we’ll have individual packages of s’more fixins’. Our very own Spencer Bullins and Greg Biggam will play some music for us and Bill will fire up the tractor for a hayride around their farm. (Rain-date: 4 p.m., November 14.)  The address is 148 Jim Frye Rd. Advance, NC 27006.

Lovefeast in a BoxTM for 2021 If you’ve been at Calvary for a while, you might remember the Lovefeast-in-a-Box™ program launched by our Sisters Fellowship several years ago. The idea is to connect our faraway friends and family with Christmas Eve lovefeasts by shipping dressed candles, coffee fixins, Moravian cookies, and the worship ode in tidy packages, so that long-distance and stay-at-home worshippers can participate with us via livestream on Christmas Eve. In light of the continuing

pandemic, Lovefeast-in-a-Box™ continues to be a great way to help participants celebrate Christmas Eve safely.

Visit Lovefeastinabox.com to place an order. You can purchase individual or double boxes, or you can order a family pack (serves 6). Boxes can be picked up in person (12/12 & 12/14) or shipped (via USPS on 12/6). Orders must be placed by November 15.
