Footnotes:A scholar, theologian, administrator and pastor, Jan Paulsen has served the Seventh-day Adventist Church in a career that has spanned more than five decades. He and his wife, Kari, have lived and worked in Africa, Europe, and the United States. In 1999, Pastor Paulsen was elected president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, a position in which he served for eleven years.Nayara Mowry, a native of Brazil, is a student at the Uni-versity of Maryland. She enjoys working with the Young Adults and AIM, and is passionate about international development and languages.Jonathan Mowry grew up at Sligo, and has been involved as a teacher for both the Youth and Young Adult Sabbath School programs. He writes computer software for a living, and enjoys photography and gardening.

Sligo Federated Music Club invites you to their No-vember 11 concert performed by the Washington Adventist University Music Faculty in the Atrium at 3 p.m.

Sligo Women’s Ministries Book Club will meet on Wednesday, November 14 at 7 p.m. in Room 44 to discuss “Sex, Mom and God” by Frank Schaeffer.

Come join us for a beautiful concert featuring Evelyn Simpson-Curenton and friends, including the Sligo Sanctu-ary Choir, on November 17 at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Sligo Church needs knitters and crocheters! As part of the Raising the Roof initiative, Sligo’s knitters and crocheters are being challenged to produce hats, scarves and mittens for the homeless. Free, basic crochet and knitting patterns are being provided and finished items will be col-lected in the Atrium until December 15th, when they will be collected and distributed to those in need in time for Christmas. If you are unable to actually produce items, but you have yarn you could donate for other knitters/crochet-ers please leave it in the donation box. Donations Needed: The Center for Student Success/First Generation Ambassadors Program will be collecting canned goods and gently used coats for people in need. Sligo church will become a site for Young Life in this area starting in the spring. We are currently seeking people of any age who are willing to be mentors. A free 8-week train-ing will be provided. The Potomac Conference presents iThrist, a spiritual retreat specifically designed for the collegiate and young adult community, November 9 through 11, 2012.
