PEACE MEMORIALS DURING THESE VIOLENT TIMES
During these violent times with shootings, bombings, and riots, people often need a place to express their grief. We invite you to place flowers, small memorials, and candles at the Saint Francis Peace Garden on the Shrine grounds. Your memorial will stay for about one week and then the area will be cleaned.

Advent Reflection: “Let There Be Light”
Bringing Healing and Hope to the Middle East
December 10, 9:00amIn the Welcome Center
The National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette will be welcoming both Deacon Greg Kandra and Christopher Kennedy of the Catholic Near East Welfare Association and ONE Magazine to the Shrine to speak about peace in the Middle East.
During this advent season we all long for “light.” The world seems very dark now because of the violence across the world, especially the Middle East and its Christian population.
Deacon Greg Kandra and Christopher Kennedy will be here with us to talk about life in the Middle East, their longing for healing and how they hang on to hope. In the season when we remember Jesus, Mary and Joseph living in a strange place and then as refugees we should learn all we can about our brothers and sisters now suffering.
This morning will be eye opening and inspiring as we hear the stories of distress and hope! Join us Saturday December 10th at 9:00 AM in the Welcome Center for this Advent Program.

BOOK OF THE MONTH “What Are We Waiting For? Finding Meaning in
Advent & Christmas”by: Fr. Richard Leonard, SJ
What Are We Waiting For? presents a series of refreshing stories and reflections that will assist the reader in understanding the seasons of Advent and Christmas. The reflections are both thoughtful and challenging, making them an ideal resource for prayer. Fr. Leonard’s contemporary perspective and insight will help readers to reflect on the gospel stories and will provide an excellent aid to
homilists seeking new ideas for these popular seasonal readings.

Make Your Weekly Offering Online
Although not everyone buys things online many peo-ple do. For those of you who do, we will begin to offer ‘online giving’ for your regular donation. In addition to the basket system you will now be able to select an amount you would like to give to the Shrine each week, set it, and forget about it. This amount will be put on your charge card or taken right from your bank account like other automated giving. We are now using a very secure system called the E-Catholic/Blue Pay System. Its security is twice that of Amazon and Paypal and use of this method has several advantages for both you and the Shrine.
After enrolling, you’ll no longer have to remember to get your money ready at home or stop at the ATM be-fore coming to Mass. You also won’t have to search to find the pen to make out a check. If you forget to bring your money, you can still make a one time donation on your phone. We’ll even give you a coupon so you still have something to put in the basket so you don’t feel guilty when the basket is passed. With Blue Pay, you will also be able to register and buy tickets to different events at the Shrine online!
Of course we’ll still take cash in the basket and candle
money at the front desk.
