It’s been quite a year. Through it all, we have been working on new

ways to bring nutrition information to inspire your well-being. Now

that November is here, it reminds us to be thankful for the wealth of

opportunities ahead. The November newsletter highlights a few of

the nutrition programs we are providing to nurture your health.

DIETITIAN’S CORNER health coaching has wrapped up for the

year, with telephone calls to over 315

Amway employees and spouses that chose nutrition

as their option. In recent years, summary results

and bloodwork were the resources to discuss risks.

In 2020 most individuals chose not to have labs

drawn. Initially, I was concerned about the lack of

clinical information I had available and the quality of

feedback I could provide. Because, seriously, how

much information could I obtain from the summary

of those questionnaire results alone?

Yet as the consults continued, I began to find the

personal reports as valuable as any lipid or blood

sugar level. With each discussion, I encountered

strength and resilience. From the women who’d just

given birth and juggled online learning with their pre-

schoolers, to the die-hard gym members piecing

together a new fitness routine and home gym, to the

full time employees working on campus then going

home to family members struggling with virtual

schedules and routines. Each person had unique

challenges, but everyone was working to do ‘the

best with what they’ve got’. By the end of my coach-

ing schedule, I was happy to have done that as well.

2020 TOP HRA NUTRITION TOPICS FOCUS ON FIBER

For some ‘stay at home’ = comfort

food & cookies, whole grains &

legumes didn’t stand a chance. A

variety of flavor options is key.

GOAL: Add beans to tacos &

soups, snack on hummus &

veggies, sub quinoa for white rice.

MEAL PLANNING

No Eurest or Amici, grocery

stores had limited hours, take-

out options changed: meals

became a challenge.

GOAL: Utilize pantry staples,

dust off kitchen gadgets &

honor meal times.

VEGETABLE INTAKE

Working at home brought low

vegetable intake and limited

interest in meal preparation or

variety of foods at meal times.

GOAL: Utilize frozen vegetables

with cooked eggs or in a waffle

maker panini sandwich.
