Vol. XXI Issue 11
COMMANDER’S CORNER
We have a fairly bust start to
the month of November. On
Sunday, November 10th, we
will celebrate Veterans Day
here at the Post.
At 1 PM we will have a short
program and will then cele-
brate the Post birthday. Don’t
worry; Sunday the 10th is
Broncos bye week. The Post
will provide burgers and
dogs to go along with a pot
luck. Please attend if you can.
On Monday the 11th, we will put on a program at Jef-
ferson Academy which is the school just west of the
Post. Free donuts and coffee is provided at 9:30. The
program starts at 10 and usually last about one hour.
We would like to have as many members there as we
can; I have been told that the Post will receive a spe-
cial recognition at this program.
The next Legion meeting will be on Tuesday the 12th
at 7PM.
Of course, this month we celebrate Thanksgiving. It is
my wish that everyone have a very happy Thanksgiv-
ing.
As always, keep our service men and women in your
thoughts prayers, especially those who may be in
harms’ way,
Chuck Blay, Commander
AUXILIARY
So many projects, so little time. I think that is how
everyone is feeling lately. From the woman’s bath-
room remodel to the Dinner Fundraiser. We have a
project list as long as they come. But somehow, we
get it all done. Thanks to all the support we get from
our Officers and Members. As I am writing this arti-
cle, we are almost done with the bathroom remodel
and have sold our 20-ticket quota to our Dinner Fund-
raiser. Not too shabby. There have been a few changes that I would like to
make you aware of. Resolution 1 was adopted by the
Legion NEC on Oct. 16 which amends the Preamble
wording from "the Great Wars" to "all wars." I am in
the process of making that change on our Preamble
that we read during our meetings and will have it cur-
rent at our November meeting. New to the 2020 membership male spouses are now
eligible to join the Auxiliary! There has been this big
push from our Female Veterans for eligibility for
spouses to join American Legion Auxiliary. I abso-
lutely love this and it’s about time! This historic event
happened at the American Legion Auxiliary’s 99th
National Convention in August when delegates voted
for the change. The LEGION act was signed into law
by President Trump. Let’s make history within our own Unit by having any
eligible spouse come forth to become the first male
member of our ALA Unit 11-11. There is no better
way to honor and recognize the wife’s military ser-
vices. We will be making changes to our by-laws with
this added and submitting to District soon. To our men and woman in uniform, past, present, and
future, God bless you and thank you.

Keep us, O lord, grateful as a nation for the blessings
that are ours.
Preserve in our hearts the appreciation of Your gifts
that inspired our forefathers to set aside a special day
of Thanksgiving, and may we ever be mindful of your
goodness and kindness.
Amen.

JANETS CORNER
Welcome to November everyone! Before we know it
Christmas will be here!
I want to thank everyone for your patience with the
renovation of the lounge. Things are moving along but
it is going to take a little longer then we predicted but
it will be worth it when it is done.
Speaking of the renovation, since it will not be done in
time, the lounge in the back hall will be closed on Sat-
urday, November 2nd all day and reopen on Sunday,
November 3rd at noon.
It will also be closed all day Saturday, November 9th
and reopen Sunday, November 10th at noon.
On Sunday, the 10th we will be celebrating the Post's
birthday and Veterans Day starting at 1:00 pm. Bur-
gers and dogs will be provided, just bring a dish to
share. Come and help us honor our Veterans and our
Post.
The Post will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Every-
one is invited. The turkey and ham will be provided
just bring a dish to share. Please note: the hours on
Thanksgiving Day will be from 12:00 noon to 6:00
pm. We will be closing at 6:00 pm no matter how
many are still there. Our volunteers donated their holi-
day for our Veterans and deserve some time off also.
We are having Karaoke on Friday nights with potluck
at 6:00 pm and karaoke at 8:00 pm. Bring a dish to
share and have some fun! And we are having potluck
for the Bronco games, even though they are not doing
so good! We can still have fun and enjoy some good
food. Just a reminder, bring your potluck dishes ready
to serve from home. The kitchen is still closed due to
the renovations. We ask for everyone's cooperation in
staying out of the kitchen.
Please remember our volunteers and tip your bartend-
ers. They are giving up their time for all of us.
Janet Lee, Club Manager

Post 11-11’s Soldier Shipment Potluck on July 13
was once again a great success. Forty-one boxes
were shipped to our service members across the
Pacific. This year we elected to send the boxes to
a naval station in Okinawa, Japan. Thank you to those that dropped off food or toilet-
ries, or donated money for this endeavor. You
made it possible to fill those boxes with items our
service members can use. Thank you, Sheila Rey-
nolds and Sam’s Club, for yet another gift card
donation. With this card, additional items were
purchased. Thanks to those that brought the fabu-
lous food and to those that participated in the
packing process. Boxes were packed and ready to
go within a couple of hours. A big thanks to Alex
Wren, who volunteered to take the packages to the
Post Office, and to Candace Gray, Postmaster, and
Michael Kurien, Postal Clerk, for processing those
boxes. And, thank you Kathy Ermisch for step-
ping in to help Ava and me.
Your continued support for this worthwhile pro-
ject is much appreciated. Look for the next pack-
ing potluck in 2020.
.
