Did you know that POPLS gets credit to purchase games, toys, and indoor playground equipment just by clipping the labels on many products you likely are already purchasing? Here is a way that each of you can help contribute to our school. If you have items in your pantry that contain a "Box Top" label or a "Labels for Education" label, please clip it and bring it to school with you. There are three collection areas in your school: front lobby, near the Lending Library (close to the kindergarten room), and in the Church Lobby. Each of these labels will be counted and sent off for credit to purchase additional materials for our children's play and learning time. Your child and you can have fun asking other relatives and friends to help with this effort. Everyone can collect, and you can then bring them to school - whether you have 1 or 100 they all count. You will also occasionally see bonus coupons or certificates in the paper, magazine, or at your local grocery checkout. Thank you in advance for helping with this effort. We have two big deadlines each year for these: November and March though we collect them throughout the year. If you are interested in being part of our counting team or if you have any questions about this committee and what we do please reach out to Christina Caporale at [email protected]. November 2015 A newsletter for Families Involved In our School Home My name is Mary Tessier, and I am the SunshineFISH Coordinator. I just wanted to share a few more details about how we provide meals for our fellow preschool families in need. These are Prince of Peace families with a new baby or who are dealing with a hardship like the loss of a loved one or family illness. It’s easier than you think! By joining the SunshineFISH committee you would simply be put on our email list to receive meal sign up information through a Sign Up Genius email I send out when a family is in need. Based on YOUR schedule you can either sign up for a day that works for you or not. Meals do not have to be elaborate. Just doubling the recipe of a meal you are already making for your own family is more than sufficient. Being on the email list does not require you to make a meal! And the great thing is that all meals are delivered to the School Office for the family to then pick up. If you would like to be on the email list to receive notification about families in need, please email me at [email protected]. Thank you!

November 2015

A newsletter for Families Involved In our School Home

My name is Mary Tessier, and I am the SunshineFISH Coordinator. I just wanted to share a few more details

about how we provide meals for our fellow preschool families in need. These are Prince of Peace families

with a new baby or who are dealing with a hardship like the loss of a loved one or family illness. It’s easier

than you think!

By joining the SunshineFISH committee you would simply be put on our email list to receive meal sign up

information through a Sign Up Genius email I send out when a family is in need. Based on YOUR schedule you

can either sign up for a day that works for you or not. Meals do not have to be elaborate. Just doubling the

recipe of a meal you are already making for your own family is more than sufficient. Being on the email list

does not require you to make a meal! And the great thing is that all meals are delivered to the School Office

for the family to then pick up.

If you would like to be on the email list to receive notification about families in need, please email me at

[email protected]. Thank you!

FISHtales is published monthly. The deadline for the December issue is November 13. We welcome any comments and suggestions. If you have newsletter design experience or page layout experience and would like to help with the FISHtales newsletter--we need you! Becky Barclay [email protected]

Join John Durkin (Prince of Peace Minister to Families and Children) and Cindy Deatherage (School Principal) to

share ways of bringing Faith into the Holidays.

Focus on ways to incorporate your faith into your existing traditions Show you how to establish new traditions that intentionally build faith attitudes and experiences Will focus on everyday ways to build faith, birthday and holiday ideas ~ especially Thanksgiving and

Christmas!

Dear FISH Families,

I am so excited to be the ANGEL Fish Coordinator this year. Angel Fish is near and dear to my heart because we have

so many ways to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community!

Hopefully by now, you have all seen the flyer for the ECHO children’s winter coat and canned food drive that POPLS

participates in every year. This has been a long standing tradition at POPLS, and ECHO was so excited to hear we are

participating again this year!

After the ECHO drive, I want to give you a head’s up for a yearlong opportunity. I am the Director of Client &

Volunteer Services at Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center. We provide material, emotional and spiritual support to over

2500 women and families a year. We rely solely on donations. As you are cleaning out your closets throughout the

year, if you would like to donate to a faith based organization that does everything in the context of relationship,

please consider bringing it with you to school. We hope to have the place we are using for ECHO be a drop off area

for Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center. I can also have Donation Forms you can take with you for tax purposes. These are

some of the items we accept:

New or gently used clothes sizes Newborn-4T Maternity Clothes Diapers and wipes Formula and Baby Food that is sealed and unexpired Bottles, new or in good condition Baby Carriers Baby blankets, sleep sacks and swaddlers Children’s books

If you would like to donate any larger items (i.e. car seats or strollers), please contact me directly at

[email protected] or call or text at 314-873-1717. I go directly to work on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

after dropping off my son (Edwin is a Zebra this year!) so we can figure something out. I am so excited about all the

opportunities we have to give back at POPLS! Blessings, Lina Gentry

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

We did it! With your help we have reached our goal to begin Phase II

of our Natural Playscape on our Front Playground. This phase will begin

this fall, hopefully over our Thanksgiving weekend. We have Phase III,

still in our plans, so it is never too late to donate! Hopefully by the

Spring we will have the funds to move forward with Phase III!! We

truly appreciate your generosity and prayers. I know the children are

enjoying what we have accomplished so far! See for yourself!
