Rail Alliance 15’ G-Tech had an extremely construcve week at Rail Alliance and look for-
ward to 2016 posively. As a company we have taken the opportunity in
the months passed to grow and improve ourselves and our products,
starng with a new large site and home for G-Tech as well as Colt Construc-
on; with modern office space, purpose built manufacturing facilies and
over four acres of external storage space.
G-Tech’s new premises connues to expand, adding a new dedicated train-
ing development facility and industrial technical centre, keen to connually
innovate into our products and expand our Main Producon Facility to pro-
mote and accommodate larger contracts. It is G-Tech’s vision to expand on
the already impressive success naonwide.
In the coming weeks and into 2016 we will be offering the opportunity for
Network Rail organizaons to visit the new site and view the developments

Nov 2015
COMPANY HISTORY With over 20 years of Colt working with Network
Rail and having such a wide range of knowledge
and experience in the construcon industry, the
problems relang to rail became a large element
of day to day working. Colt were spending a tre-
mendous amount of me contracted into jobs
which included removing trip hazards caused by
the tradional tacle and coper methods moving
independently. The managing director of Colt at
the me Glenn Telford and his construcon
team, working closely with Network Rail set out
to find a method to solve problems of the high
costs on connually maintaining pla3orms. G-Tech Hazard Yellow Dual Unit
Traditional coper and tactile in-stallations were failing
due to them having separate cement beds and intense movement against
the pla3orms from the trains and frost heave, causing huge problems for
staon managers and travellers. The movement of the various elements
causing trip hazards on the edge of a pla3orm.
With the full backing of Network Rail the Colt Group carried out
the first trial of the G-Tech coper at Bentley Staon in Hampshire, 100 test
copers were laid on a pla3orm. The coper had features which had not
been seen before, and problems which were being caused by tradional
methods had been eradicated by a simple but effecve design. The tacle
element is made of a polyurethane, uv stable material, which is bonded
into a recess on the coper with adhesive that is adhered in temperature
controlled factory condion, ensuring the previous problems with surface
mounted tacle installaon had been eradicated.
The problem of the copers components moving individually had been solved
as each coper is laid on a single cement bed, levelling and laying becomes
easier and quicker; also with the G-Tech Coper is a single unit there is no
independent movement and the slips, trips and fall hazard is considerably
reduced.
Bentley Station Before
Bentley Station After
We tried to overcome smaller issues affecting Network Rail as well as the larger problems
our coper comes complete with a chlorinated rubber white line on the nosing and li8ing socket caps so only minor
touching up is required on site. Dependant upon the line speed the hazard yellow tacle is popular at present, as it is
being trailed as a replacement for the painted yellow line. The tacle gives a wider more prominent line, and the
blisters apposing to a painted line making visually impaired more aware of the pla3orm edge. It saves a huge cost on
periodically re-painng of lines on the pla3orm, as the tacles colour runs throughout and rather than just on the
surface, making minor chips or scratches less apparent. Ulmately this saves on a huge maintenance cost to Net-
work Rail over me and is another reason as to why the G-Tech Coper has become a;racve..
4 Years on Bentley Station is maintenance free
with no faults recorded to date and G-Tech is sll growing at a rapid rate. We connue to be ambious to economize
in the UK along with Network Rail, making safer pla3orms, saving me on working hours, minimizing hazards and
saving on maintenance over a period. Our most impressive record to date states over 300 copers laid in one week-
end possession, this due to the G-Tech being a single unit, making a saving on me and labour of approximately 30%
comparing to tradional methods. We always knew this was a keen factor to Network Rail with over 3 billion pounds
spent per annum on possessions.
The high speed growth of G-Tech in a short time confirms confidence in our product
going into 2016 the G-Tech coper is fully UK patented, we own a 4.8 acre premises for offices, storage and manufac-
ture; and have sold almost 25,000 copers in the UK to date. As a company G-Tech has the full backing of a 28 year
established business in Colt Construcon, ideas, knowledge and determinaon which has put us at the forefront of
our compeon. We now produce the largest selling combined tacle coper in the UK and maintain as a team to
keep it that way for the foreseeable future in what looks to be excing mes ahead, for rail innovaon.

Why G-Tech?
At G-Tech we de-signed a product which eradicates previous issues which were being caused on rail-ways with tradi-tional coper sys-tems.
The ongoing tra-ditional method consists of vari-ous components; a concrete coper and blistered blocks behind. Problems continu-ously occurred because of the separate parts having to be laid on cement beds which were at dif-ferent levels, and different mixing gauges; causing movement in the elements con-tracting when dry-ing out occurs at different rates, this begins to be a huge issue.
Different compo-nents leaves the platform has nu-merous joints, which after move-ment occurs, wa-ter then ingresses causing frost heave between components, leaving a very uneven surface.
G-Tech Factory
Why there are over 20,000 G-Tech Units Sold Over the UK
Saves Possessions
Our unit, with 4 li8ing eyes in the design, makes the weight evenly proporoned on
manoeuvring, the G-Tech Coper can be lowered evenly onto a pre-prepared bed. As a re-
sult of our copers single bed construcon the laying me is dramacally reduced.
Saves Money
The G-Tech coper saves on a connual maintenance costs, due to its low maintenance
design. Our tacle is a UV stable hazard yellow colour, and our unit comes with a factory
adhered white line on the nosing - minimizing site labour.
Laying Methods
The li8ing of the unit can be done simply by using small machinery such as a counterbal-
ance, A-frames etc with M16 li8ing eyes, and tested shackles to coincide with double leg-
ged brothers. Most units will accommodate small or narrow openings.
Less Accidents
With the installaon of cast in li8ing eyes, movement of the coper is safer as apposed to
using stone magnets, or slings. the li8ing eyes give an even li8. The aggregates used man-
ufacturing our coper achieve the highest slip result, with a percentage of copers tested
regularly in-house to ensure a constant pass rate is a;ainted. Records are available and
provided on delivery to site.
Less Maintenance
Up-keep of pla3orms is always a huge cost to Network Rail. The movement in the beds
between the separate components on older systems meant the replacement or re-
bedding of tacles was a huge element in constant maintenance at staons. G-Tech have
made it so any movement is limited taking away huge needs for a8ercare maintenance.
EXTENDED OVERHANG G-Tech have looked into a common problem for NWR and found a genuine soluon.
Q: What is the maximum coping stone projecon that can be achieved?
A: This is subject to a number of factors including design loading (pla3orm load class) and
the riser wall / support structure being in good condion. G-Tech have extended their
overhang from a basic 150mm up to 225mm due to weight loadings.
Q: What are the benefits of extended overhang to NWR?
A: The gauge on pla3orms can be achieved without needing any further adjustments to
riser walls or pla3orm structures, by simply replacing copers to achieve desired results saves
on cost. An increased projecon allows safer train to pla3orm gap flexibility.
Q: What will G-Tech consider if I do extend my overhang?
A: G-Tech will always consider correct calculaons before a projected overhang is provided.
Maximum pla3orm loading restricon for 'pedestrians loading' including agreement of
management aspects with Network Rail and overturn checks will be undertaken.
Safety is OUR Priority Our in-house tesng facilies to cover all main
aspect of; NWR Standard NR/L3/CIV/030.
• Slip Resistance Tesng
• Overhang Structural Unit
• NWR Drop Tesng
Safety is our main priority at G-Tech as a compa-
ny we slip resistance test 2% of every order
which leaves our premises to ensure NWR stand-
ard is always met.

NWR Drop Test
Drop Tesng Drop tesng is carried out at our Hull facilies
with a 102kg ball weight, dropped from a 1 metre
height providing a 1Kn impact force onto the tac-
le.
Our G-Tech tacle is made from a strong blend of
materials, compared to the original un-reinforced
concrete tacle blister type. Connual tesng has
provided us with a wealth of test results which
with the independent tesng we connue to use
confirm the robustness of the product.
CASE STUDY
Twickenham
Station
Greater London
TW1 3SX
In April 2014 G-Tech
received an order to
supply all the copers for
Twickenham Staon.
500 1220mm x
1160mm copers were
delivered to site and
were to be laid onto
the staon harp
pla3orms.
The hazard yellow tac-
le was intended to
replace the yellow line,
which we were confi-
dent would be an
a;racve feature speci-
fied by Network Rail.
Compared to a painted
line the blisters on the
tacle make travellers
aware they are stand-
ing on a line making
them more conscious
to step back and move
behind it. The product
is yellow throughout
and no amount of
scratches or impact to
the product will have
an affect on the bright
and vivid colour. The
yellow is now being se-
lected by more and
more staons and may
well become accepted
as the yellow line.
Twickenham Station
Brendan Keogh Construcon Ltd. Twickenham Staon was completed in a
three weekend possession over several
weeks of contract. G-Tech had a constant
liaison with the main contractor Osborne’s
and were ready to assist if necessary as on all
staons. The works to date highlighted the
largest amount of copers laid in the shortest
amount of me.
The convenonal product would have re-
quired considerably longer me taken to lay
than the G-Tech Coper. In a 72 hour week-
end possession the Brendan Keogh team lay-
ing the G-Tech coper laid 300 units. Brendan
Keogh himself said that “it’s a great product
and so easy to lay saving a minimum of 30%
laying, seOng out and drying me, it gives
great benefits to the industry”
“We have installed the
G-Tech coper at a large
number of stations now
and on all occasions the
product has installed
extremely well and saves
many installation hours
in comparison to the
more conventional plat-
form edging product”

G-Tech Premises G-Tech along with Colt Construcon moved into the new offices at the be-
ginning of April 2015.
The impressive building was an innovave addion to the area in Hull,
which is a well-established industrial town in itself. With the backing of
MP’s and councils we have been acknowledged on how we have be;ered a
neglected building which was under ulized for many years.
Locaon and Size
Close to the A63 off the M62 it was in a perfect posion for deliveries and
expected traffic. With a large, fully concreted yard we have enough space
for all expected types of vehicles coming in and out including Hiab loaders
and Arculated vehicles.
Expansion
Due to the success of the product to date we are already in discussions
with the owners of the adjoining land to take a further potenal five acres.
The coper is a;racng such interest across the network we are already
holding over 10000 vested units for several contractors. With further vest-
ed orders expected before the end of the year we will soon reach our op-
mum external storage space limit.
We have already purchased adjoining buildings to expand the current pro-
ducon facilies.
