Witchee—Scaree and Oktoberfest Dance
It was a fun evening dancing to the music of Eddie Derwin and the Polka Naturals from Wilkes-Barre.
Boy they sounded great ! The evening was filled with a very nice variety of music—both polkas and
some nice slow tunes. A few figure dances were played for those of us who can still remember the
steps—luckily we had Don and Josie Casner & Dave and Anne Loeffler to help us through the dances.
The hall looked very festive—Ron Bush made the table decorations of the German flag to get us in
the Oktoberfest mood. Our hosts for the evening were Ron and Polly Bush and Shirley Weiss.
Thank you very much !
Don’t forget to come a bit early for dinner. We had a delicious stuffed chicken dinner before the
dance.
Thank you Sandy Green for making the lovely basket of cheer and to Bertha and Wayne Bowers for
selling the raffle tickets. A big thank you to our ticket sponsor Ken Faust. Last but not least, thank
you everyone who brought a door prize and to those who stayed and helped to clean up.

It’s a Small World
Van and I recently were vacationing at the Poconos and turned on the Saturday night Polka
dance shown on WVIA. Who should be dancing across our screen, but club members, Don
and Josie Casner ! They were at the Mohegan Sun Hotel and dancing to the music of John
Stevens’s Doubleshot. On Sunday we went to an Oktoberfest at the Blue Mountain Ski area
and there was Doubleshot again. We thought the Saturday night dance was live but found out later that
the Mohegan Sun dance had been taped back in June. Anyway it was nice hearing some great polka music
and seeing Don and Josie dance.
