    Hello I-I Circle K Members!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I enjoyed

having the opportunity to meet many of you at the

Leadership Training Retreat in late October and I

hope your club is getting ready for Holiday

Embrace/Winter Escape as well as District

Convention! This fall has been crazy busy not only

doing service and attending events (and school

    sometimes), but also promoting Prematurity

Awareness Month and Kiwanis Family Month thispast November. If you have not been to a Kiwanis

meeting yet this year now is the time to go! During

the holidays is a great chance to get to know what

your community needs are all about and the K-

Family working together can help the communitys

needs. With Christmas break coming up and

students going home on break try to get in touch

with a local Kiwanis club to still help out the

community while you are home! Thank you for

everything that you do for your school and

    community.

    In service, leadership, and fellowship,

    Ashley Wolfe

    I-I Circle K Governor

Your time is limited, so dont wast

    living someone elses life.

North Central College is extremely blessed to be

sponsored by a wonderful Kiwanis group.

CKI Sponsor, Naperville Evening Kiwanis President, Walt

Kelly, presents a sponsorship check to North Central College

CKI members Desury Paredes (President of NCC CKI), Adam

Lopinsky (Past Vice-President and CKI Alumnus), Megan

Schomaker (member and I-I District Kiwanis Family Relations

Committee Chair), and Maci Mitchell (member and I-I District

    Secretary and Spastic Paralysis Chair).

Once again our Naperville Evening Kiwanis Family

showed their love, but most importantly their support when

they presented North Central College CKI with a check that

was to pay for their International Dues. North Central College

also continues to show Naperville Evening Kiwanis support, as

CKI members helped with Peanut Days in mid-September,

and attend weekly Kiwanis Meetings every Mondays.

    When one door of

happiness closes, anotheropens, but often we look so

long at the closed door tha

we do not see the one that

    has been opened for us.

Trick or Treat for the Homeless

Every year on October 31st, or Halloween night, North Central College plans, coordinates,

and executes an event that allows us to join forces with our Naperville community to help out a

local food pantry. Our event, Trick or Treat for the Homeless consists of inviting the college student

body to not only "Trick or Treat" during this fun holiday, but also to ask homeowners in our

community if they would like to donate non-perishable food items for a food pantry of our

    choice.

This year, we chose to collaborate with Little Friends' food pantry. Little Friends is a private,

non-profit organization serving children and adults with autism and other developmental

disabilities. Despite the weather (tons of rain, heavy wind, and chilly breezes), over 30 volunteers

joined us at this great cause. After nearly 3 hours of Trick or Treating, our volunteers receivedcandy to last for weeks and the Naperville Community donated more food than ever before!

Not only did we partner up with CKI Alumni (Adam Lopinsky and Nora Beswick), non-CKI

members, and the entire community at this event, but we also had a small interclub, as 3

members from Northern Illinois University's CKI joined us! Thank you Ryan Balentyne (Northern

Division LTG), Stephanie Norman, and Katelyn Shields for helping us collect donations!

    Whether you think

    you can or you think

    you cant, youre

    right.

    Ive learned that people

    Feed My Starving Children

North Central College's CKI started off celebrating Kiwanis Family

Month extremely strong! On November 13th an Interclub was created

alongside Naperville North High School's Key Club were bothorganizations combined leadership, fellowship, and service at Feed

    My Starving Children.

The amount of volunteers, both K-Family and non, was outstanding!

There was certainly over 100 people there, and a little over 1/5 of

those volunteers were CKI and Key Club. With everyone's help it turned

out to be an extremely successful night were 118 boxes were packed,

thus resulting in 70 children being fed in one year. This night was

particularly special since a large portion of the boxes packed would

be going to the Philippines in order to support those affected by

    typhoon Haiyan.

We were just shy of 1 person of creating an Interclub with DePaul

University; regardless, we absolutely loved having John Touhy with us!

Thank you for driving out to Naperville all the way from Chicago!

K-Family Month or not, we vow to create more Interclubs to enhance

our companionship with our K-Family! Stay tuned... we'll be having

another Interclub on November 22nd with Metea Valley High School's

    Key Club AND Naperville-Evening Kiwanis!
