Western Cuisine

Nowadays, it is very hard to find a student, especially in Shenzhen, who don’t like western food. The delicious beefsteak, tasty bisque, yummy

spaghetti or even the most common hamburger could be one of the most beautiful memories of our childhood. However, do we really know western food? What is the difference of food in different places? What is the culture and history behind great meals? Now it’s time to pay your attention.

1Th e c u i s i n e s o f

We s t e r n c o u n t r i e s a r e d i s t i n g u i s h e d b y themselves, although there are common characteristics that distinguish Western cooking from cuisines of Asian countries and others. Compared with traditional cooking of Asian countries, for example, meat is more prominent and substantial in serving-size. Steak in

particular is a common dish across the West. Many dairy products are utilized in the cooking process, except in nouvelle cuisine. Wheat-flour bread has long been the most common sources of starch in this cuisine, along with pasta, dumplings and pastries, although the potato has become a major starch plant in the diet of Europeans and their diasporas since

the European colonisation of the Americas. Maize is much less common in most European diets than it is in the Americas; however corn meal, or polenta, is a major part of the cuisine of Italy and the Balkans. There are several types of Western Cuisine such as Greek Cuisine, French Cuisine, American Cuisine and Italian Cuisine.

Greek Cuisine is a typical Mediterranean style food. It is affected most by Italy, the Balkans, Turkey and other countries. It has a extensive use of olive oil, vegetables, herbs, cereals, and bread, wine, fish, various meats, including poultry, rabbits and pigs. Greek dessert features are commonly used nuts, honey.

Greek salad: Greek salad, its ingredients include tomatoes, cucumber slices, green peppers, red onions, pieces or thin sheets of cheese and Kalamata olives Fida, salt and dry seasoning Russian forces Gang leaves, then topped with olive oil . In addition, the Greek salad is also often added pickled capers leaves, buds or berries (especially the twelve Islands region), as well as vinegar, lemon juice and parsley at the end.

Moussaka: Moussaka was also translated as Greece eggplant box, as the eggplant is the main raw material of the food. It is mainly popular in the Balkans, the Middle East. The main ingredients of Moussaka are tomato and fried eggplant, minced meat is often used.

French Cuisine has evolved extensively over centuries. The national cuisine started forming in the Middle Ages due to the influence of the work of skilled chefs and various social and political movements. Over the years the styles of French cuisine have been given different names, and have been modified by various master-chefs. During their lifetimes, these chefs have been held in high regard for contributions to the culture of the country. The national cuisine developed primarily in the city of Paris with the chefs to French royalty, but eventually it spread throughout the country and was even exported overseas.

Foie gras the goose’s liver is an over-feeding of geese from being taken out of the liver, is a famous French cuisine Europeans and foie gras caviar, truffles as a "world's three major delicacies."Because of the high cost of foie gras, people usually only enjoy foie gras on important festivals (such as Christmas or New Year). Typically, there are many ways to cook foie gras, "half cooked foie gras" (MI-CRU) is seen most commonly in restaurants, this producting method is simple, they are easily saved when they are finished. Programs are: freeze whole foie gras, remove fibers, broke it off into pieces with hands, add butter, salt and other spices, use fresh-keeping paper to preserve it. Next bake it with water about half an hour, then take it in a refrigerator to keep. When we eat Goose foie gras, we frequently add bread and jam or with specially made red wine onion.

Apple pie is a Western-style fruit pies, apple filling is the main material. In the West, there are always some apple pies on the table. Pie crust covers the surface, and there is a chopped apple. Most people make apple pie with sugar, raisins, cinnamon and nutmeg and other spices, even with the other fruit and cheese.

Steak is a massive patch of beef, is one of the most common food in the West. Steak is usually barbecued or fried.Unlike most other cooked food, cook until steak is usually not fully cooked, but can be adjusted to personal preferences of raw and cooked. Of an odd distinction between raw and cooked, can be divided into:All raw (Raw): completely uncooked raw beef, this will only be used in certain dishes such as beef tartar, Kitt rich or raw beef salad.A sub-cooked (Rare): only the surface of cooked, was gray-brown, blood-red cross-section of the core temperature of about 48.9 ° C-120 ° F.Two-thirds cooked (Medium-Rare): peripheral was gray-brown, blood-red cross-section of the core temperature of about 52.2 ° C-126 ° F.Five cooked (Medium): peripheral was gray-brown, pink section, there is still blood red core temperature of about 57.2 ° C-135 ° F.Seven mature (Medium-Well): most were brown, pink core temperature of about 62.8 ° C-145 ° F.Fully cooked (Well-Done): surface slightly burnt, profile completely brown, the temperature of the core is about 73.9 C°-165 ° F.If the meat is very fresh, cooked connoisseurs like to call the Medium-Rare to Medium, and most people generally called the Medium-Well.

The Snails in Western-Style Food

Once you enter a west-style restaurant, you may be fascinated by very small but delicious food. It can be a symbol of

various west-style foods. It has shells and smooth bodies that are really attractive to all the clients. It has many fans who are keen on it enthusiastically. Yes, it is called “snails’.

How Should I Have It?When the waiter brings a metal plate with snails that lie in it in front of you, you will be able to enjoy a very special and unique appetizer. However, after eating this dish, you may make your hands full of garlic butter, or make mouth to emit a strong garlic smell that probaboly remains after eating even at night.Well, then how should I enjoy this delicious dish? Some restaurants will offer guests a metal, plier-shaped so called “snail tongs”. When you use a small fork or a tip needle to dig snail meat, you may use this snail tongs to clamp the snail shells. If there is no such snail tongs, you also can use the handkerchief (to avoid the burnt injure on fingers because of the hot shells) to ‘grab’ the snail shell, with another hand digging snail meat.

After the snail shells’ temperature cools down, and the shell of the meat has been hollowed out, you can pick them one by one for sucking to enjoy delicious soup in the shells. If you think this is too risky, then you can make the snail shell cover on metal plate, and then use forks to keep the small

steamed bread that can absorb the soup.

What Kind of Snails to Eat?The snail has various kinds. It is rich in nutritional value. In the western, the snail is one of the most famous dishes, especially in French food.

French scattered large snails, which origins in western France and Algeria, belong to the rare species of edible snails. They were listed as one of the four worlds’ famous" snails, whose main production country is France and the United Kingdom. China is the third biggest country of production of third scattered large snails. Scattered large snails are China's domestic second kinds of edible snail. Some Generalities About SnailsThe whole world has already discovered a variety of 25000 different kinds of snails. The edible common snail in our country is African snail, which is also known as the brown cloud agate snails. Guangdong dishes called it “MengCaiLuo”. Snails are photophobia----for day they rest, and at night they go outside to prowls. During the day they hide in the weedy, lush trees, crops luxuriant dark and humid environment, as well as much humus and loose soil or hide in a litter, litter layer and the cave. If the ground is dry or with big waterfall rain, the snail often climbs to the trunk, crop stems and leaves.

Every region in the world has its own unique food and culture which involves some extremely exciting festivals. Most of us Chinese people

are willing to eat western food as well. There are many unique facts and culture of western eating and itthey will be useful for us to understand the customs of westerners.Western meals begin with an appetizer, usually like caviar, foie gras, lox, cocktail, snails and other amazing snacks. Appetizers are usually high of quality and low of quantity. The second course is the soup. Soups of all kinds are provided. It’s up to your choice to choose the one you like the best. There are four four kinds of soup and theywhich are light soup:, cream soup, vegetable soup and Vichyssoise. Side dishes come next, including seafood, eggs, bread and crisp case. Next Then comes the main course which is the most important and nutritious part of the meal. Westerners usually eat meat instead of rice or noodles,. This habit is which is totally different from us Chinese. Steak is the most significant one of Western main course food. Of course there is also chicken, duck, goose and even turkey. Vegetable come in advance. They love to eat raw herbs mixed together, seasoned with Mayonnaise. This is so known as salad. Fresh herbs uncooked taste great and the nutrition is at the highest level. Then there’s the dessert. People love to eat ice-cream, pudding, cheese and fruits. Desserts are always my favorite. I love the feeling of ice-cream melting on the tip of my tongue. Puddings definitely taste nice. The flavors differ widely between different restaurants and the taste is always great.Drinks come last. Coffee and tea are the favorites of most people. Both will give you refreshment, making you energetic. You can enjoy the amazing taste and relax your whole body by just sipping a few drops. Coffee is normally drunk with cream and sugar. The taste will become milder. Tea, on the other hand, is drunk with vanilla and sugar. Tea is a Chinese drink and most of tea added nothing at all. We Chinese people like the light mild taste of tea leavesleave so we choose to drink the drinkit. There are some unique festivals which include a family dinner and . Thanksgiving is one of the most significant festival dinners. Thanksgiving Day is the day when we give thanks to others, thanks to good harvest, thanks for everything. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner

shall include a roasted turkey stuffed with bread-based stuffing. Sage is the traditional herb added to the stuffing, along with chopped celery, carrots, and onions. Fruits and vegetables are the key ingredients for the meal. It represents harvest and harmony. Berries, pumpkins, squash and nuts are commonly seen on the table and are the most welcomed by guests because of their small size and unique exotic flavors. Some side dishes such as gravy, pumpkin pies, mashed potatoes, mashed turnips, creamed onions, celery sticks and all kinds of sauces are also seen often on the table. They suit greatly with the main course and enable people to eat more comfortably. Spirits or cocktails sometimes may be served before the main meal. On the dinner table, unfermented Apple cider or wine are often served. Then the Thanksgiving meal is complete. Of course there is always Christmas at which we gather together for celebrating Jesus Christ’s birthday and dine. Written in the Holy Bible, Dec 25th is the birthday of the Savior Jesus Christ. Westerners celebrate this festival just as we celebrate the Spring Festival. It is the most important festival of western culture. Traditional Christmas dinners feature turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables and raisin pudding for dessert. I still remember the first time I went to Canada. It was cold and wet Christmas Eve. My parents and I gathered in our house and had enjoyed our Christmas dinner. Lying on the middle of the table was an enormous turkey with roasted skin and was stuffed full. It was a humorous sight. The legs were straight pointing upwards to the ceiling; the buttocks were cut off and the head was sloping down. Surrounding it were all kinds of side dishes. The smell of it was outstandingly good and we dug in at once. I drank wine for the first time in my life but didn’t get drunk. It was a miracle.Chinese food differs from western food in various ways. First of all, we Chinese mostly eat rice or noodles as a main course which is a . It’s a tradition inherited by by our ancestors and passed on to usus modern teenagers. Westerners don’t. They eat all kinds of meat instead. The second difference is the flavor. Chinese people love all kinds of flavors including sweet from the south, spicy from the west, salty from the north and sour from all parts of China. Westerners don’t like as much. Third is the atmosphere of western and Chinese restaurants. Western restaurants have quieter environments while Chinese restaurants are nearly always noisy. People eating

Western Food And Culturein Chinese restaurants are influenced by these those noisy people and happen to chat and get noisy themselves. Last of all is the nourishment of the food. Western food has a high quality of nutrition but slightly low in quantity. Chinese food is opposite. It might seem that I don’t like Chinese food. No, it’s the truth. It might have something to do with our development. Though most people are living quite well but there are still some people around the country who can’t even fill their stomachs. They care not about the quality but about the quantity. It’s the only way for them to survive.Being As a Chinese, I love western food but Chinese food as well. We have the duty to absorb western culture but keep passing on our Chinese culture as well. By understanding the connotation of Chinese and western culture, we will be able to do better in this region, for I hope that our tradition Chinese way of eating can be inherited by our future generations, forever.

Some people argue that there is no such thing as a shared English culture. They say all those invasions by the Normans and Romans simply left it with a “hotchpotch” of other people’s culture. Paradoxically, this melting pot is what makes England unique. Today we are going to introduce some icons of England, which represent something in English culture, history or the

English way of life.

The RoseRoses are red…? Are you kidding? They can be orange, yellow, white, pink and even blue these days, not to mention white with blood-red staining at the edges. That’s because they’ve become the subject of the most intense gardening obsession of a garden-obsessed nation. The rose is used in a variety of contexts in its use for England’s representation. The Rose of England is a Royal Badge, and is a Tudor, or half-red-half-white rose, symbolizing the end of the Wars of the Roses and the subsequent marriage between the House of Lancaster and the House of York. This symbolism is reflected in the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom and the crest of the FA. However, the rose of England is often displayed as a red rose, such as the badge of the England national rugby union team.

The Routemaster BusSince the first appearance of the Routemaster bus in the 1950s, its double-decker des ign has been adopted and adapted for buses in cities around the country—and world. The Routemaster is not the only hop-on, hop-off double-decker to have graced the streets of England, but it is the bus most loved by Londoners and tourists alike. Introduced in 1956, it was designed specifically for London and had some pretty advanced design features such as a light alloy body to allow for more seats, to try and entice car drivers onto them. The Routemaster gave rise to the double-act of driver and conductor—familiar pairing described as “the Lennon and McCartney of the road”. Although recent years saw the gradual phasing out of the Routemaster, it will be remembered through films, TV shows, pop videos, postcards and guide books.

OxbridgeProperly speaking, there’s nothing to distinguish Oxbridge from the rest of England’s university system. Oxford and Cambridge are just two of the many fine universities to be found around the country. And yet in some ways these two are unlike any other. As the two oldest universities in England, and among the most prestigious in the world, they have come to be seen by some as representing the very finest traditions of scholarship, while others see them as outdated bastions of establishment and élite privilege. Whatever your view, though, it’s hard to argue with the idea that the beautiful views of Oxford’s “dreaming spires”, or “the backs” in Cambridge, are uniquely familiar and evocative. And the 800 years of rich Oxbridge history have demonstrated the universities’ staying-power, and given us countless remarkable stories, numerous peculiar traditions, and what must surely be the two most distinguished alumni lists in the world.

English GardenAs the saying goes, “An Englishman’s home is his castle”. And it seems fair to say, “An Englishman’s garden is his paradise.” England has long been a green-fingered nation and the lush gardens, whether a gigantic plot or teeny pot, represent a passion for gardening that borders on obsessive. The English love affair with the garden has been a lasting and fruitful one and their fanatical fondness for gardens and gardening has long been firmly rooted within the national psyche. The gardens in all their pruned or overgrown glory, not only tell us about their owners, they also represent aspects of the national identity: their diversity, sense of individualism and quirkiness.

Full English BreakfastWhether you consider it an indulgent weekend treat, daily necessity, or the perfect hangover food, this good old hearty British fodder with its delicious combination of savoury delectableness is guaranteed to get your taste buds going and banish even the most persistent of tummy rumblings. Some say it is fattening and unhealthy— all that fried meat, and fried white bread. Others say it is OK as an occasional treat, so long as you eat half a grapefruit before it, grill most of the ingredients and go for a 10-mile run afterwards. Others swear that nothing else sets you up for the day quite so well as this belly buster of a British brekkie.Whatever your personal take on this traditional breakfast dish, there’s no denying it’s an undisputed national favourite, as well as an icon of the culinary tastes and culture.

The Weather“Turned out nice again!” Or not. Who in England doesn’t love discussing the weather? “Lots of rain lately,” they advise their neighbors at the bus-stop, as though they hadn’t noticed. They are still living up to Dr Johnson’s observation in the 18th century that “when two Englishmen meet, their first talk is of the weather”.Broadcast weather reports began on the radio in 1922. By 1936, they had made the transition to the small screen, with an anonymous hand drawing isobars on a chart. In 1954, the first on-camera weather presenter, George Cowling, advised that tomorrow would be rather windy, a good day to hang out the washing. They have never stopped talking about the weather, deriving a fascination from its extremes such as the great storm of 1987, and its moments of out-and-out weirdness, like the shower of shellfish that fell on Worcester in 1881. The reason the English like talking about it is, of course, that it’s always doing something new and unexpected.

James BondJames Bond has been a stalwart of English culture since the 1950s. He’s been in the papers, in the form of comic strips and free samplers. In 2008, he became the subject of a major exhibition at the Imperial War Museum in London.Bond first appeared to the world through the smoky fug of a roulette table in Ian Fleming’s 1953 novel, Casino Royale. In it 007, the most experienced gambler in the Secret Service, is sent to a luxurious casino in France to defeat a Russian agent at his own game. Predictably, Bond gets sidetracked by a voluptuous female agent, but eventually finishes the job. The idea of James Bond—a spy who knew as much about the odds in Baccarat as how to kill a man silently—grabbed readers immediately. It was not until a few years later, after President Kennedy had been quoted praising Fleming’s novels, and the Daily Express had serialised a few of them as comic strips, that 007 began to achieve some real success.

EssayThe death of former Apple CEO

Steve Jobs

There is an achievement called "successful", there is a left called "eternal life", there is a respect called "revere",

there is a loss called "regret."

Apple announced that the company's founder and former CEO Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56 years old. Apple issued a statement that: We are deeply saddened by the

death of Steve Jobs announced today. Jobs numerous sources of innovation, passion and energy to enrich and improve our lives. World becomes better because of Jobs.

Steve Jobs, after graduating from high school in 1972, in Portland, Oregon's Reed College is only one semester of the book; Jobs in 1974, a company designing computer games to find work. Two years later, when he was 21-year-old Jobs and 26-year-old Wo Zini Ike home in the garage of Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc.; obtained in 1985 by President Ronald Reagan awarded the National Medal of Technology; 1996 , Apple's Steve Jobs re-employed as part-time consultants; September 1997, Jobs returned as CEO of the company. Essay

When Does China have its own Steve Jobs?

When I heard the news of Steve Jobs’ untimely death, my mind flashed back to 2005, I bought my first Apple computer while I got

into a graduate school in Guangzhou. Thanks to him, the creation of the Apple computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad changed the PC, electronics and digital-media industries, and also transformed the way of peoples’ live. His products excited everyone, let the people around the world experienced a totally new pop-culture.

Now, Steve Jobs is gone, his fans across the world are mourning, so am I. His workmates say, Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. I deeply agree with this, he is not only a genius and charismatic leader, but also a revolutionary, he opened a new era. He has such profound impact that will be felt for many generations, and his death is truly the end of an era. I will miss him, remember him as a great man, and I would buy an iPhone 4 in honor of Mr. Jobs.

Meanwhile, like so many other Chinese, I asked from the bottom of my heart again when China has its own Steve Jobs. For one thing, this question presents a huge embarrassment for all Chinese people, but we still can not discard this great disgrace up to now. For another, this is a heavy and serious problem which is worthwhile to inquire and meditate, but we are not allowed to evade. Whenever the Nobel Prizes are awarded every year, we will ask the same question over and over again, and think when we can produce a Nobel laureate. However, this kind of sound is heard mostly on China’s grassroots level while the educational circle almost keeps silent. Is it indifference or helplessness?

With the rapid development of its economy, China made many remarkable economic achievements and become wealthy. It is also supposed that China's colleges and universities have no lack of money. They are able to build such a huge and magnificent campus which can give California Institute of Technology a sense of inferiority and they can spend several millions or even tens of millions Yuan to build a campus gate. But they are unable to produce an outstanding talent like Steve Jobs. This is a matter that makes our people very worried and even very annoying.

What is it about China that prevents the emergence of innovators like Steve Jobs? It seems obvious that the current utilitarian education system, the realistic money-worshiped social climate seeking quick success and instant benefits, as well as a lack of free speech, free expression puts China at a disadvantage. When there are so many schools seeking proportion of students entering higher school to implement test-oriented education, who cares the obliteration of student’s novelty and creativity? When there are so many universities competing to build luxury campus buildings, who is to create an open and free academic atmosphere? When teachers and professors are striving to become leading members, who will regard science as the basis of all issues? With so many experts and scholars spouting for extra income, who is to engage in scientific research? When people issue their papers just for completion of task, who will be immersed in further exploration of issues? When sycophancy and corruption become the rules to get success, who dares to tell the truth and do the right ting?

There is a news story is about the election of a chairman of Student Union in a college in Hubei province, they set a rule that the candidate’s height must be more than 1.72 m, the candidate will be unqualified if his height is less than 1.72 m. This story is really funny and ironic, a student can be or can not be a chairman of Student Union is determined by his height. If Deng Xiaoping is still alive, what kind of feelings he had when he read this story? Depressingly and disappointingly, this kind of story almost takes place everyday in China.

So, when wealth, sycophancy and even the height instead of talents as well as integrity become the main assessment standards for a person in our society, when the executive power is always above the academic power in schools, when the executive order is much higher than academic freedom, when quick success is much better than forethought, it is no surprise that our schools and colleges always fail to nurture outstanding talents like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates.

Steve Jobs once said that innovation has nothing to do with how many dollars you have, it’s not about money, it’s about the people you have. The most influential Chinese writer Lu Xun once made an

appeal that before genius is demanded to be produced, the people who can allow geniuses grow should first be demanded. Today, Mr. Lu Xun's appeal is still not out of date and worthy to be considered seriously. Do we have an environment to release the ingenuity and creativity of Chinese people? Have we prepared the air and soil for the emergence of outstanding talents?

The key is for Chinese society to change the utilitarian climate and fickleness, become more liberal and provide a freer external environment so that innovative thinkers have ample space to flourish. Schools, colleges and universities have an urgent need to reform its test-oriented education, put more budgets on “masters” rather than “buildings”, and encourage academic power to be above executive power to achieve the academic freedom.

On the other hand, Chinese enterprises should achieve success through innovation rather than quarrel for advantage by undermining one another or copying other’s patents as well as products. And entrepreneurs also need the innovative, progressive, and perseverant spirit of Steve Jobs – and his courage to break barriers and adhere to the spirit of truth.

Moreover, facing unprecedented scient i f ic and technological change and at this critical period of national revival, China needs innovative, Jobs-style, technological national leaders, in order to continue optimizing innovative thinking and bringing improvement and qualitative change to industry, education system and the whole society so that China is able to sustain its

rapid economic development and transform itself from a ‘manufacturing country” to a “creative country.’

Additionally, the utilitarian concept and methods on kids-education existing in Chinese families also need an urgent transformation. Parents in China should make every effort to encourage their children’s interests and cultivate their children’s creative power. The purpose of children go to school or enter into a campus is to be a useful person from various walks of life, even become a talent rather than only be a government official in the future. If the four meet head-on, the birth of China’s Steve Jobs will not be far off.

students can keep eye contact with teachers, as it is important to maintain the communication between teachers and students in classroom. As the trial schools said, iPad could provide a wonderful learning tool without changing the classroom atmosphere. They also think iPad is the biggest thing to hit school technology since the overhead projector.

Even kindergartens are getting hands on iPad, one kindergarten in the US has converted one empty classroom into a lab with 36 iPads, that has become the centerpiece of the school. As the principle said, of all the devices over there, iPad is most attractive to kids.

However, some teachers in primary and middle schools could not endorse the idea of digitalizing the classroom. They insist that teaching face to face between teacher and student is the most effective way of learning. Under the traditional method, teacher can respond directly, differently and immediately to variant individuals. This is irreplaceable. The electronic device cannot replace teachers and textbooks even if it has its advantages as a digital teaching tool.

Some researchers are questioning how to put all the textbooks on the iPad, as it seems hard to put every textbook on every iPad. Schools have to buy several thousand digital copies for every textbook, when with paper books, it only need anywhere from 25 to 500 physical copies. They are also questioning whether iPad is the best choice with many other lower cost tablets available as well. In the meantime, scholar and parents also raised their concerns that the school is rushing to invest in the digital project without

proving its educational value.

One professor of Stanford University said there was very few evidences that students could learn more, faster or better by using such machines. As he said, iPad is marvelous tool to engage students, but when the novelty wears off, teachers will get into hard-core issues of teaching and learning.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, which designed the iPad algebra program plans to compare the scores of students using digital textbook and traditional book.

Apple has been developing the school market for iPad by working with textbook publisher on instructional system and sponsoring iPad workshop for school administrators and teachers, but it seems not aggressive to market iPad in school as it did with its early desktop computers, which were heavily discounted when they were sold to schools and it did help establishing a generation of Apple users.

Apple has an outstanding sales performance, but it is unknown how many of them had gone to schools.

Whether it’s better or not using iPad as digital textbook in school, it still needs longer time to prove.

iPads to Replace Textbook?

When people are talking about iPad, it is easy to think about games, music and many other funny playing

tools. You may not know iPads are going to schools at an unbelievable fast pace to replace traditional blackboard and textbook.

Techno log i ca l f a sh ion ha s gone i n to schools. Educational experiments such as v ideo games , YouTube have had a mixed result. Educators are divided over whether the initiative to give every student an iPad has a difference for their study. A tr ial class in fourth grade in one of Shanghai primary schools will start to use Apple iPads to replace the traditional blackboards in November. School bought iPads for the trial class students and teachers last year and expects iPads as digital tools will be used in each classroom in the future.

They have an IT company to design a specific application in which all the game and entertainment applications will be forbidden, and all the teaching plans and exercises together with course materials will be used. With this new project, every student can access their own account to choose their own exercises from various difficulty levels, the system will automatically correct their mistakes and submit to their teachers.

This trial may seem like quite new in China, but in the United States and other countries, it is becoming more popular for elementary and middle schools to use iPad as textbook and course materials. For example, Math can be taught in iPad through step by step animation to help students understand complex problems. All of Shakespeare’s plays in iPad can be used in literature course material. Students can play piano on the simulating piano keyboard in iPad in music course. Students can correspond with teachers and turn in assignments, and each student will has a record of study in digital portfolios. The advocates of the iPad said iPad is not only a cool toy but rather a powerful tool with a multitude of applications including thousands of educational uses.

iPad now has about 5,400 educat ional applications available, of which around 1,000 can be downloaded free. Some schools are developing the course materials in iPad, like math, history, biology, etc., with the help of educational and technological specialist. The trial schools also lauded the iPad advancing their effort for paperless and cost saving in the long run. By the way, students like its light weight, which offers a relief from the heavy books which weigh down their backpacks.

With iPad’s large touch screen and flat design,

Note: The ex-CEO Steve Jobs has just left us. All over the world mourned his passing in different ways. In the early days of Apple, Jobs said he wanted to make a dent in the universe. He did that.

Jump up or hop down

The new released iPhone4s is disappointing and boring. Despite that it’s thinner and with a white shell, there is no real big difference from the former iPhone, which is

why people hesitate to buy it. After all, rumor of a translucent screen and flashier profile had everyone holding his breath. Imagine what a revolution it’d be if an efficient non-opaque product comes to reality. So when there was no iphone5, people wondered and debated what Apple would do next. Release some big surprises or hold on to its previous state, make another “twin” iPhone? As a result, the stocks of the company are sliding. It is also not helping that the former CEO—Steve Jobs—has past away from the world.

( H e r e ’ s a b r i e f introduction. In the late 1970s, Jobs and some others designed, d e v e l o p e d , a n d marketed one of the f i r s t commerc i a l l y success fu l l ines o f personal computers, the Apple II series. In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial po ten t i a l o f Xerox P A R C ' s m o u s e -driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Macintosh. After losing the power struggle with the board of directors in the company in 1985, Jobs resigned from Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. Apple's subsequent 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he had served as its CEO from 1997 to 2011.)

Steve Jobs was dead, also gone were his intellect, inspiration and marketing methods. In the past years, with his sharp canny sense of economy and business, he raised Apple to its now shining glory. He noted the public’s yearning for high-tech entertainments, therefore creates the iPods, itouches, iPads and iPhones. Of course, other companies also are developing

and creating new products, but none has hold innovation this great. He, with Apple, gradually changed our world. It isn't aggravating to say Jobs was Apple, Apple was Jobs. Apple met big declination when Jobs was cast away. When he returned, however, the company began leaping forward with a lightning speed. It surpasses Microsoft, Sony and Motorola, et cetera and becomes more aggressive than ever.

But now that the head of the company –Jobs—has gone, many would questions if Apple is keeping on the rise or going downhill? Is it giving more surprises and developments to the world? Are its new products worth buying? Wi l l t h e r e b e m o r e new creative ideas? We wouldn’t be able to know. But as for now, compared to the newly invented tablets in Russia and India, which are cheaper and every bit as efficient and useful as iPads, the iPhone4s is not very competitive. My friend , for instance, decided she’d rather save money than buy an iPhone4s. S h e c o m p l a i n e d o f the p r i ce and hoped for Apple to release a new product short ly. However, we both doubt

that in the recovery time of Job’s death, the company is to have any big flashlights produced. Jobs was not only a commander, he also turned ideas—no matter how impossible at the time—into reality. It is because of his courage, forcefulness and spirit that Apple’d be able to be this successful. Though lost of a reliable guidance of the future, somehow Apple is still of great potential. We all wish that the company would keep in pace with the world’s developments and make another milestone in technology.

Emancipation of Desire

As of today in twenty first century life style changed from simple clothes to cover up our body to, we are

having a high value on materialism life style right now, back in the day people are more focused on fame, and land. Lots of people now are stressed from wanting something extra in their life, but the thing is none of those things are actually needed. We can say that a lot desire from people are nothing but illusion for them to think of when they feel life is not good enough, life should have this, these and that in order to get better, did people ever question themselves three times. Do I need this? What is this for? Going to be good or bad, or there is a better way, can wait a little bit, no hurry. Desire should not take over regular life style, it is something to imagine, but we as people, the highest level on the planet of earth should know better, and we have perceiving to do things, we should not being controlled by our desire.

To us it seems impossible to control the desire; it is like a physical phenomenon, the more you try to abandon the desire, the more you want to satisfy the desire you have. To some people they think they will be happier, and life will get better with the desires to get real, these thoughts are not going to a positive direction

making people feel unhappy stressful of their life. The best way is not to change the surroundings; it is the person needs to have a better mental status to diminish the desire, to confront the real life.

Now we shall look at what people’s desire are and what they do for it. Often unrealistically compare on band, property, automobile, job and fame, between each other becomes a popular topic, such as people do not have job or run out money for about three month they can still walk in and out the stores using other people’s money, just for satisfy their avarice. Some people can put everything in their limited space, and everyday will have a new thing appear, the place is full of desire looks bad for sure. And did not there is a saying, you do not have it, it is always the best. But right now men are satisfied when their desires are accomplished. We understand the consequences of, if it is not yours and you get it in an unpleasant way, ill effect will be shown.

Rather use the time to achieve the goal and keep up with the plan, than to waste time on some meaningless anxiety, it always end up to a dark place. No men are useless, desire is unreal to achieve, if it is a reasonable goal and you make plan for it. Desire, meant to get something

that is going to take energy, an illusion for the moral society, creates issues for the person; desire is limited inside one’s mind. Desire, takes you to work for the desire, and it does not even worth for that much work at the end people will always see, emancipate you from the desire can be free on your own thought be reasonable, more time to be a successful person than just to have anything from a immorality, they are sinful sometimes will be endless.

People always say that , enough is enough. Desire is useless, does not gave out the feeling of crowned with success, much more are the opposite. More of the bitterness than the sweet taste of the desire than achieve a goal will have the equal taste of both of them. Or the goal might change the life thoroughly in a positive outlook. Many men’s soul are not satisfied, then they tried different ways to satisfied them, but we should ask ourselves what we really need, we should change ourselves, and believe in ourselves, be more sensible of the real unique us.

The mountains with glacier, the bluish green lake and the cordial people are all engraved on my mind. To me, it’s a paradise.

About 2 month ago, just after the big examination, I visited Geneva in Switzerland for a international summer camp. A part of the territory of Switzerland is like a tail lying in France and Geneva is located in the acme of the tail. The symbol of the city is a flower clock and a huge fountain that is 147 meters high. It's really enjoyable and delighted when you ramble on the streets. You can occasionally find many historic buildings of typical European style on both sides of the narrow street. Wherever you go you will always see the spotless ground and breathe the brisk air with scent of freedom.

People here are friendly and cordial. They always smile to each other and this makes me feel great joy and warmth. Smiling soon drove the strangeness and indifference away. In addition, Geneva is a French-speaking city, but to my surprise, almost everybody in the school can speak English frequently.

My school there is called Lycee Topffer. The campus is quite small, the school has only about 100 students, but it really makes me warm. There is a basketball court, a volleyball field and a swimming pool. The football field is really tiny. It will only take you 3or4 seconds to run from a side to another side. Dormitory house, four storeys high, is beautifully decorated. The dining room is on the ground floor.

Several tables in different sizes lie in the big room covered with

latticed tablecloth. A slim carved vase with a fresh flower stands on each table.Sunshine enters the window and warm the room. Yep, here is the place we often have our meal.

Do we have fillet steak, caviar or snail cheese soup here? Of course not, as a matter of fact this is only a refectory of a school. So the foods I can show you are not so fantastic, but they are quite different from the meal offered by our school. Let's give a view on a usual day I had in the Swiss school.

It was eight'o clock; my cell phone ringed me up punctually every morning. I stretched myself and did a deep breath then went to the bathroom as usual. When I returned I always found my Russian roommate, Vlod, was still in bed. I shacked and dragged him so as to get him out of bed .After Vlod finished washing we went downstairs together and entered the dining room for our breakfast. A new day began since then!

It was a buffet. Here were four types of staple food on a table for you to choose. They were toast, French toast, ginger cake and Swiss roll. I took two pieces of toast with a white clay plate and stepped to the next table to pick something else. There stood six or seven cans and bottles which contained various jams, chocolate and hazelnut spread. The jams were translucence purple, yellow, pink and were shining in the morning sunshine. But otherboys usually preferred chocolate and hazelnut spread, so did I. After smearing the bread, I put some corn flake and fresh milk into a bowl. That was my breakfast!

Later we would go to take our classes on the noon. Different people chose diverse lesson. For me it was English. The classes here were much more diverting and vivid. We performed drama, debated on incisive issue and accomplished tasks by the collaboration in a team. Anyway, the class was enjoyable. But we got hungry afterwards all the same.

Lunch time soon began. I haven't had two same meals at the school for the food changed every day. Here are some photos of them. They are what the western people have frequently and commonly.

for picture Lunch 1) You see, there are chicken nugget , boiled vegetable and fried potato. I put some ketchup and salad sauce with the potato which tasted awesome. I learned that from my Spanish fellow Mario, he sometimes took some mayonnaise as well.

for picture Lunch 2) This dish was quite similar to the former one. But instead of chicken nugget, that were two pieces of pan-fried duck breast. Though the special sauce was yummy, I think the duck was a little over-burned.

for picture Lunch 3)The meat with crisp yellow surface was rabbit. Can you guess what the golden ball was? Potato! Yes it was potato again. You must get used to eating potato regularly as staple food for the western people consider potato is just like what we do to rice.

Afternoon was always delighted and exciting. We would go outdoor and have colorful activities. We played sport games, cycling in the downtown, had picnic on the countryside, surfed on the Geneva lake, climb the Alps and so on. They brought me a great deal of unforgettable happiness and felicity assuredly.

Dinner was often casual and we can enjoy the Swiss traditional food more. Here are two pictures of dinner we had in the school refectory.

After the picture dinner 1 and 2) People here eat rice too, but seldom. It had the similar tasting as ours. The other one is far more impressive to me. That's Lasagna, a wide and flat type of pasta with cheese on the covered face and beef and sauce inside,

derive from Italy. It was succulent and ropy, a little sour as there was tomato slices in it.

After dinner, we watched movies and enjoyed the sporting games outside. I was really relaxed at that time for there was nothing to worry about. We usually went to bed at eleven.

That was the common day I had in the school. But the summer camp couldn't be so insipid. There also came the special exalting days such as the time we climbed the Alps. We will focus on the food we had at the particular time

for the picture Alps) This is my Italian fellow Luca. He was eating a pan cake with chocolate spread on the one side in an inn on the Alps. He rolled up the cake and cut it as he liked.

We lived in a cottage on the mountainside. Though it was summer at the present, but the frost was floating in the air. We had a quite distinctive dinner here. (Paste the photo "special" here)

It was (a) mixture of carrot, potato in slices and cauliflowers, meat in pieces will(with) a great deal of cheese and something else that I don't even know the name of. They were roasted together. The dish tasted better than it looks. I thought it is pretty resemble (resembles) to the BaoZai rice, but instead of rice it was cheese.

During the month, there was a Swiss festival and we enjoyed the most famous Swiss dish fortunately, the Fondue, dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot over a spirit lamp. Just like the Chinese hotpot, but it is eaten by dipping long-stemmed forks with bread into the cheese. When the students all started to heat the pot and stirred the ropy cheese, the air was heaven with the aroma. The aroma was just the beat appetizer I had ever seen.(paste the photos Fondue)

That's my trip to the fantastic country Switzerland. I can only share with you parts of it. Not only did I enjoy the superb food, but also the uniqueness and beauty of Switzerland’s landscape and culture. The mountains with glacier, the bluish green lake and the cordial people are all engraved on my mind. To me, it’s a paradise)

Despair is a prison, only optimism and tenacity can open its

door.

Gone with the Wind

Could you believe a lady who used to live in a dignitary family could vigorously

go through a terrible forest which was filled with cruel soldiers, while taking care of another weak lady and a little boy? Could you believe a lady who avoided eating too much to be rude in the past endeavored to find any eatable thing to raise a nine-people family in the later life? Could you believe that a lady could face a dozens of emotionless robbers alone and condemn them because they had ruined her home? Her name is Scarlett. Born in a rich and honorable family, Scarlett just lived a completely

happy life. She, the most attracting girl in the town, never worried about anything, and just had fun with boys all the day. She liked to wear the most beautiful dresses to the party and to be the star. Ashley, whom she fell in love with, however, would marry to her cousin, Melanie. With outrage, she soon married to a weak, poor man and then had a baby. Her life stretched out in a quite different way since that marriage. She moved to Atlanta to adjust her emotion. In Atlanta, Scarlett faced the terrible Civil War with all the citizens. The picturesque and placid town was filled with wonders, icy weapons, endless fire

of canon, and the fear. The fear of losing the home was a clock in everyone’s heart. It beat and rang every second, strongly hurt them. Scarlett had to help the hospital to take care of wounded heroes, although the every second in the hospital she wanted to escape. She was bored of the moans of the soldiers and the sadness which extended and occupied the whole hospital and the bore some work repeated nearly one second a time and the grave atmosphere. Furthermore, she had to live with her nettlesome aunt and elegant cousin Melanie. Every time Scarlett saw Melanie she thought of the graceful gentleman Ashley, the guy with deep grey eyes which attracted Scarlett’s heart firmly. She lived in boredom, in pain, but she had to face it.Finally one day, the disaster happened. The enemy broke the city and everyone ran out. At this crucial point, Melanie was parturient. Scarlett was rattled, for the first time. No one could save Melanie but Scarlett. Fortunately, she met Rhett, who admired her but never showed his passion, even sometimes played Scarlett for fun. Rhett found a carriage for them and carried them to a forest where Scarlett could find the way to her home, Tara. Then he left, to join the army, to save their home. How could a lady go through the dark, dangerous forest to back to her dear home? Scarlett cried and shouted; then became disappointed and hopeless. After the struggle in heart, she determined to face this calamity. She dragged the weak horse, lavishing it hardly to stipulate it keep going. She paid great attention to every sound in the forest, wishing not to be discovered by any one of the cruel beast. The children were keeping crying and the wind blew terribly. The world had become a black hole, mysterious and disastrous, taking everything nice in the world away. But Scarlett paid all her effort to go home. The home was the last place she could survive; the home was her only hope. Finally, after the seeming endless night, Scarlett reached the land where she grew up. She told herself: Tomorrow is another day. All the hope and happiness would appear with the memories showed up in her heart. Sarcastically, Scarlett’s mother was no longer alive, and her father got psychiatric disorders because the lost of his wife. Tara was destroyed after rob of all valuable things done by the enemy. The neighbors, none for an exception, were out of money and food. The land of cotton was so barren that nearly even a bunch of lively plant couldn’t be found. Scarlett had to handle this disappointing situation. She ordered servants to steal things from nearby empty houses; planted cotton by herself; went to the town and sold the only valuable things left to get money; she was no more that dignitary lady. As the only method to gain better life again, Scarlett married to Frank Kennedy, a middle-aged man who was in love with

her sister, in order to make use of his general store and lumber mill. Since then, Scarlett broke the mortal rules again and again. She hung out in the carriage everyday and tried to build business with everyone, even the northern people who were the most notorious ones in the South. She talked to everybody

she could gain benefits from even some local tyrants or some rude men who she was not expected to negotiate with. She hired some prisoners as slaves and even allowed her servant to treat them cruelly. Everything she did was because of her afraid of the life which she had to worry about what they could eat in next dinner every moment. She didn’t want to be poor any more. Scarlett, an actually shrewd lady, made the business of lumber

mill increasingly profitable. After a few years, she even got the money to buy other peoples’ lumber mills. She was as obstinate as a cow. Although everyone in the town had been even afraid to get along with her, she showed the extraordinary ability of a woman, and she never took care about what people were thinking about her. Or sometimes she was as weak as a poor bird. Because she was out of sense of security, she could never back to her happy life in the early age. She actually had turned into a completely different person: she was even better than men in some aspects, no more to be that vulnerable young girl. Her tenacity was appreciated by the God. As a result, she was out of despair day by day, making sure that her life was a bit more safe and comfortable. After a few years, Frank died after a fight. Rhett, who actually loved Scarlett for so many years, made an offer of marriage for Scarlet. Scarlett happily accepted his propose, procreating a cute girl then. Unfortunately, calamity tortured Scarlett again. Her little daughter lost her life when she rode a horse to jump over a fence, which was the same reason as the death of Scarlett’s father. A few days passed, Melanie, whom Scarlett thought she hated for nearly ten years but actually the most reliable person for her, left the world. Rhett, who thought his love was exhausted because Scarlett let him disappointed again and again, left Scarlett alone. Could you imagine how hopeless Scarlett was in a period of time? Her world had crashed. The tough lady, however, bestirred herself again. She didn’t believe that Rhett would just leave her and took back all his love for her. The dead people could just for sigh and miss, and the only thing she could do was to treasure the living ones. She told herself, “Tomorrow, is another day.” Right. Tomorrow is another day. No matter what plight is chasing us; no matter how despair we could be. Always believe that in tomorrow everything is fresh, everything could be OK. Just be optimistic like Scarlett, and be tenacious to the plight.

The movie tells a story of a man compelled to speak to the world with a stammer. It must be painful enough for one who stammers to speak to another person. To face a radio microphone and know the British Empire is listening must be terrifying. At the time of the speech mentioned in this title, a quarter of the Earth's population was in the Empire, and of course much of North America, Europe, Africa and Asia would be listening — and with particular attention, Germany. The king was George VI. The year was 1939. Britain was about to start the war with Germany. His listeners required firmness, clarity and resolve, not stammers punctuated with tortured silences. This was a man who never wanted to be king. After the death of his father, the throne was to pass to his brother Edward. But Edward renounced the throne "in order to marry the woman I love," and the duty fell to Prince Albert, who had struggled with his speech from an early age.In "The King's Speech," director Tom Hooper opens on Albert (Colin Firth), attempting to open the British Empire Exhibition in 1925. Before a crowded arena and a radio audience, he seizes up in agony in efforts to make the words come out right. His father, George V (Michael Gambon), has always considered "Bertie" superior to Edward (Guy Pearce), but mourns the introduction of radio and newsreels, which require a monarch to be seen and heard on public occasions. At that 1925 speech, we see Bertie's wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter), her face filled with sympathy. As it becomes clear that Edward's obsession with Wallis Simpson (Eve Best) is incurable, she realizes her Bertie may face more public humiliation. He sees various speech therapists, one of whom tries the old marbles-in-the-mouth routine first recommended by Demosthenes. Nothing works, and then she seeks out a failed Australian actor named Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), who has set up a speech therapy practice.Logue doesn't realize at first who is consulting him. And one of the subjects of the film is Logue's attitude toward royalty, which I suspect is not untypical of Australians; he suggests to Albert that they get on a first-name basis. Albert has been raised within the bell jar of the monarchy and objects to such treatment, not because he has an elevated opinion of himself but because, well, it just isn't done. But Logue realizes that if he is to become the king's therapist, he must first become his friend. If the British monarchy is good for nothing else, it's superb at

producing the subjects of films. "The King's Speech," rich in period detail and meticulous class distinctions, largely sidesteps the story that loomed over this whole period, Edward's startling decision to give up the crown to marry a woman who was already divorced three times. Indeed, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (as they became) would occupy an inexplicable volume of attention for years, considering they had no significance after the Duke's abdication. The unsavory thing is that Wallis Simpson considered herself worthy of such a sacrifice from the man she allegedly loved. This film finds a more interesting story about better people; Americans, who aren't always expert on British royalty, may not necessarily realize that Albert and wife Elizabeth were the parents of Queen Elizabeth II. God knows what Edward might have fathered.Director Tom Hooper makes an interesting decision with his sets and visuals. The movie is largely shot in interiors, and most of those spaces are long and narrow. That's unusual in historical dramas, which emphasize sweep and majesty and so on. Here we have long corridors, a deep and narrow master control room for the BBC, rooms that seem peculiarly oblong. I suspect he may be evoking the narrow, constricting walls of Albert's throat as he struggles to get words out.The film largely involves the actors Colin Firth, formal and decent, and Geoffrey Rush, large and expansive, in psychological struggle. Helena Bonham Carter, who can be merciless (as in the "Harry Potter" films), is here filled with mercy, tact and love for her husband; this is the woman who became the much-loved Queen Mother of our lifetimes, dying in 2002 at 101. As the men have a struggle of wills, she tries to smooth things (and raise her girls Elizabeth and Margaret). And in the wider sphere, Hitler takes power, war comes closer, Mrs. Simpson wreaks havoc, and the dreaded day approaches when Bertie, as George VI, will have to speak to the world and declare war.Hooper's handling of that fraught scene is masterful. Firth internalizes his tension and keeps the required stiff upper lip, but his staff and household are terrified on his behalf as he marches toward a microphone as if it is a guillotine. It is the one scene in the film that must work, and it does, and its emotional impact is surprisingly strong. At the end, what we have here is a superior historical drama and a powerful personal one. And two opposites who remain friends for the rest of their lives

The King's SpeechThe Love, The Speech, The Date

If you are an adult now, imagine going back to the age of 15. If you haven’t reached this age yet, think about what you will do when you’re 15. If you’re exactly

15 years old, imagine producing a debut grunge album that storms Australia and later becomes the #1 on American rock charts. Can’t believe this? The legendary Aussie post-rock band Silverchair actually made it in the summer of 1995. It was a real shame that I didn’t know who they were until they split up this year. But in a way, I can be neutral when I look back on their career. The band was first formed in New South Wales, Australia in 1992. In 1995, they released their debut album Frogstomp and the song Tomorrow which immediately became the blockbuster on the radio in the U.S. However, according to the critic’s caustic comments, they were not “original” enough, for the callow frontman Daniel Johns had been imitating the music and hairstyle of Kurt Cobain, the vocalist of Nirvana(Thank God, Daniel didn’t join Club 27 like Kurt did!). In fact, they looked so alike that the widow of Kurt Cobain

couldn’t tell them apart. She stood in awe and told everyone, “that blond teenager looks like my f***ing dead husband!”

Although their music was still immature during the Frogstomp era, things changed dramatically in 1999. Silverchair made the world their oyster with the shocking maturity in their third album Neon Ballroom. They reached the zenith of their career. Since then, everything was going around the gifted songwriter, lyricist, guitarist and frontman, Daniel Johns. Genuine emotion is always the magic ingredient – with unusual candor, Daniel revealed his personal battle with depression, arthritis and anorexia in Neon Ballroom, and

of course, it worked. In Emotion Sickness, the lyrics clearly described the burning pain caused by arthritis. He cried,Burn my kneesBurn my knees and prayDistorted eyes when everything is clearly dyingThe third track Ana’s Song was a real masterpiece. Focusing on the ego, Daniel Johns painted a picture of a tormented soul while he was haunted by the enduring dark years of eating disorder.

I felt like the old Daniel was gone, and Silverchair was no longer the band of sad-eyed teens.

"Kinda when I stopped eating was on our second album, just as it felt like everything was so out of control," he said in an interview. "The reason I think [I did it] was just to gain control.” What I didn’t know was that he personified anorexia as “Ana”, but this song brought me to tears every time I listen to it. I could feel his sorrow and despair pouring down between the lines, and slowly tore him apart. Thousands of people who were suffering from this disease sympathized with Daniel, and he brought hope to them by healing their wounds of woes. He was an interesting mixture of strength and fragility, simply beautiful. And there radiates from those eyes and limbs and words a kind of fullness of spirit that makes everything anew. And you're my obsessionI love you to the bonesAnd Ana wrecks your lifeLike an Anorexia lifeOpen fire on the needs designedOn my knees for youOpen fire on my knees desiresWhat I need from youAs a first-class live performer, Daniel John had the voice of rough but soothing texture. Unlike most vocalists, he stood as an adroit guitarist who kept everything under control. Moreover, he was a vegetarian. “Basically, the reason I'm vegan is because when I was about 16 or 17 years old. I began to understand that we don't need to contribute to the killing and exploitation of animals to feed our bodies correctly.” He had this admirable attitude toward the animals, for he abhorred the universal pretense of human being. The music carrer of the band suddenly paused in 2002. They later returned from hiatus in 2006, yet their change was so surprising that some regarded their comeback as a fatal blunder - Silverchair turned into a pop-rock gang. Daniel Johns cut off his symbolic long blond hair and the other two guys were also transformed, from skinny-limbed free spirits into banal adults, and I was powerless to stop them - after all, this is how life works. They became a butterfly with its wings ripped out, and could never go back to where it used to be. Eventually, the band announced their separation in May, 2011.“We formed Silverchair nearly 20 years ago when we were just 12 years old. Today we stand by the same rules now as we did back then ... if the band stops being fun and if it's no longer fulfilling creatively, we need to stop.” After twenty years of creating, they deserve a good rest. Hopefully they will remember how many souls were touched by their music. Even though I hate to say goodbye, sometimes a major part of love is letting it go. It doesn’t mean giving up, instead, it means moving on to the next station of one’s life. But the old school Silverchair will eternally be remembered – when the agony was deep and the hair was long.
