    KAIKORAI PRIMARY

    SCHOOLN e w s l e t t e r

A very special welcome to Sophie Bartley, Jessica Mundy, NinaCusdin, Sean Cusdin, Rikiana Hawkins, Mia Manuel , Sophie

Derbyshire, James Hulyer, Khan Naaroa, Connor Coleman and their

    families to Kaikorai Primary School!

    PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

    Dear Parents,

Thats a wrap! After six months of thinking,

planning, writing, storyboarding, acting, filming and

editing, the school movie is finished. Many thanks

to everyone who attended and made the night so special. A finalthank you to the sponsors, the extension programmes, all of the

parents who helped, the children and of course to the teachers,

especially Linda Martin who was the driving force behind the

    scenes.

Order forms for a second run for the Quest T Shirt and the DVD

can be ordered online at the school web site.

My final comment on the school movie is to please take the time to

reinforce the themes of the movie and our school values with your

child when the opportunity arises. It is important that our values

are just not talked about but become an important part of how we

    behave in everyday life.

    Kind regards,

    Simon Clarke

    BOARD OF TRUSTEES

    PARENT GROUP NEWS

Uniform DecisionAfter extensive consultation and careful consideration, the Board of Trustees has decided not toimplement a mandatory daily school uniform policy. The Board wishes to thank everyone whoprovided valuable feedback and all opinions were taken into account while making this decision. The Board thought carefully about our school values when making this decision and felt thathaving a uniform contributed very little positive benefit to achieving the goals of the school.

As part of this process the Board discussed its health and safety responsibilities and has decidedthat in 2014 a school bucket hat and a school top will be mandatory for all students. The purchaseof a school top will be optional in 2014 for Year 6 students. The school bucket hat will becompulsory for all students and worn in terms 1 and 4.

The school top can be worn at school anytime and it will be required to be worn to most schoolevents involving the wider community eg class trips, musical performances, outdoor ed experiencesand interschool events. It will also be able to double as a sports top for many teams. The schooltop will make Kaikorai Primary School and its students more easily identifiable at these events andit will make it easier for teachers to keep our students safe.

Further details on implementation will follow.
