Veterans Day Service ... honoring those who served Wednesday, Nov. 11, 6:30 p.m., Salem Chapel

Veterans Day is a day set aside to remember, honor, support and celebrate veterans. Salem Church and the community are invited to a Veterans Day celebration. The

service will last about an hour and will include music, stories and a main speaker. We will center on God and Country and honoring and celebrating our veterans. Please pray for this event and join us for a way for all of us to say ‘thank you’ to those who

have served our country.

Community Table Backpack Food Friends ProgramThis program has been designed to ensure that children from low-income homes in our community receive ad-equate food through the weekend when state funded meals through the school system are not available. Every week a backpack filled with foods that are easy to prepare are delivered to the schools and handed out to children on their way home. Stop by the Information Desk or the collection bin in the collection center and pick up a shopping list with items needed. Another option is to sponsor a child by donating $30/month and the food items will be purchased. Contact Deb Stahl at [email protected].

Helping Hands CircleMeeting Thursday, Nov. 5, 7 p.m., home of Carol Crowe - Meetings focus on lessons from the Christian Women’s Connection of the Church of God. Annual Turkey ProjectOnce again, the Empty Nesters are organizing the Annual Turkey Proj-ect. For a number of years, Salem has provided deserving families in our community with a Thanksgiv-ing turkey. We will be serving with Northmont F.I.S.H., Backpack Food Friends, Ft. McKinley UMC and coming alongside identified seniors in our community. Collections will continue through Sunday, Novem-ber 15. Turkeys will be distributed Saturday, November 21. Last year we passed out 339 turkeys, our goal this year is to feed 500 families! Watch for the turkey dis-play in the lobby. There are many ways to be generous; volunteer your time with turkey distribution, donate money, pray for the families receiving these gifts.
