Church in Latin America. For many in Latin America and Caribbean, rural terrain and a lack of ministers are obstacles to practicing their faith. To learn more, please visit www.usccb.org/latin-america.

LENTEN MISSION David Kauffman joins us on Monday, February 19th at 7:00 p.m. to lead us in our Lenten Mission. “The Gift in the Journey” is the theme. It’s an evening of song and story, reflection and prayer. Through our joys and challenges, we’ll discover the gifts that lay before us. David co-wrote the Mass of Renewal with William Gokelman, one of the Mass settings we frequently use here at Notre Dame. He has also written many songs for the ACTS Community including “Behold”, “Be Still”, “Come to Me”, and “You Cannot Go Below My Resting Arms.” David’s Lenten composition “Purify My Heart” actually debuted here at Notre Dame Church several years ago. All are welcome to the Lenten Mission.

If you have already responded to the Archbishop’s letter sent to your home, thank you! If you have not had an opportunity, we invite you to pray and consider how you and your family can renew your gift or make your first gift to this year’s Appeal. Pledge envelopes and pencils are available in the pews (and or in the vestibule) of the Church. Once completed, place your Appeal pledge envelope in the offertory during Mass. Online gifts can be made at www.archsa.org/archbishops-appeal or by calling the Office of Archbishop’s Appeal at 210-734-1604. Thank you for your prayers and generosity. May God bless you!

2018 Archbishop’s Appeal Prayer - In the Spirit of Love

Loving God, As missionary disciples, we are sent to bring the Good News of Jesus to everyone in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Strengthen our faith, deepen our hope, and help us to respond in love for others through the Archbishop’s Appeal ministry.

We are very grateful for the many gifts and blessings we have received. May your Holy Spirit inspire us to share a portion of these gifts and blessings with those who need our help through the 2018 Archbishop’s Appeal.

Fill our hearts with your truth and enduring love so that, united as a community of faith, we may show through our actions that we truly are disciples In the Spirit of Love.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

ANNUAL STAND FOR LIFE

The Knights of Columbus invite you to join us at the Kerr County Courthouse on Sunday January 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm for the 14th annual Kerrville Stand for Life. This hour of quiet prayer and witness on Sanctity of Life Sunday is a call to respect all life, especially those still in their mothers' womb. The Stand is sponsored by The Pregnancy Resource Center and will be attended by pro-life groups from many churches in the area. Please join us.

Pope Francis calls the church to be permanently in mission. He calls for everyone to be a missionary. We can participate in the mission through prayer.

The lines for the opportunity to see a rock star are indelibly long. The Star of all Stars, Jesus, humbles Himself to share a personal one on one hour, and only a few “wise virgins” fill up their lamps with this wondrous love freely given by Christ. How will He be able to recognize us at the end of our earthly exile if we become as the “foolish virgins’ who are too busy to show love and adoration for this awesome gift that is our Mighty Lord Jesus?

This hour is a great and unrepeated opportunity for a young parent or grandparent to teach their tender lambs our faith and reverence to our most humble Majesty, The Good Shepherd Jesus. Please join us in just one hour of adoration a week out of nearly 124 weekly hours to choose from.

An adorer is needed for:

Monday 11:00 p.m.—12:00 a.m. Thursday 9:00 p.m.—10:00 p.m. Saturday 10:30 a.m.—11:30 a.m.

If you are able to help with this time, please call Veronica Fabro at (830)377-9117.

lunes 11:00 p.m.—12:00 a.m. jueves 9:00 p.m.—10:00 p.m.

sabado 10:30 a.m.—11:30 a.m.

BooksToBorrow from the Notre Dame Parish Library are

available in the narthex of the church, near

the bell tower door. Mary Foley tells us

about Not God’s Type.

This is a wonderful book by Holly Ordway.

Its subtitle is “An Atheist Lays Down Her

Arms”, and it is a brutally honest, hilarious,

and sometimes heartbreaking account of her

life and her search for The Truth. A well-

educated English professor on top of her

game, she is lulled by life and the modern

culture into believing she is and has it All.

When she gets involved with competitive

fencing (yes, there is such a thing, who

knew?) she comes to the uncomfortable

realization that her highly respected and

trusted coach is a Christian. Suddenly she

has a hard time dismissing “faith” as

something just for lunatics or imbeciles.

A beautiful and moving story unfurls as she

systematically tackles the biggest questions

of our lives: Does God exist? Is Jesus for

real? And if so, did the resurrection really

happen? What does that mean for me and my

life?

If you have family members or friends who

are grappling with these questions, searching

for answers or doubting the truth of our

Catholic faith, or if you are ready to get

reacquainted with how the awesomeness of

God’s grace informs every part of your life,

READ THIS BOOK! It will leave you

feeling triumphant and joyful and full of hope

in the Lord, grateful for the Beauty and Truth

of the Catholic Church
