1. About COMEDK
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their
endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit
of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed “Consortium of
Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK).
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for
the academic year 2011-2012, for Indian national candidates aspiring to pursue Post
Graduate Courses in Medicine and Dentistry in the state of Karnataka, in Member
Institutions of the Consortium (Medical and Dental Colleges).
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed
by centralized counseling (Single window). The details will be published in due course on
our website, http://www.comedk.org.
The list of the Member Institutions who have indicated their participation in the
COMEDK testing program, along with the courses offered by them, is published as part
of this brochure, on our website http://www.comedk.org
Applicants are advised to read this brochure thoroughly and familiarise
themselves with the test procedures.
Note: COMEDK’s website http://www.comedk.org contains information and
current updates/alerts. This site is updated regularly. COMEDK suggests all applicants to
visit it frequently for relevant information.

3. Eligibility Criteria
Degree / Diploma Programs:
Applicants must meet all requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly,
they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institution
recognized by MCI / DCI, and must have completed or completing their internship by
30/04/2011 at the latest.
MCI / DCI Norms:
Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate Medical / Dental
course in any of the Medical / Dental institutions in the country, must possess

recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have
obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of
India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same with in one
month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be
cancelled.
In the case of an Indian national with the recognized degree from Foreign
University, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the
prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary/permanent registration for the
duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the
applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies.
Temporary/Permanent registration to such candidates shall be subject to the condition
that the degree is duly registered in the country where the degree is obtained and is
recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority in India also.
As per the Post Graduate Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the
minimum percentage of marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET-2011) for
eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit
candidates and 40% for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled
Tribes (All India) and Other Backward Classes belonging to Karnataka State only.
As specified by the Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of
marks in the Entrance Test (COMEDK PGET-2011) for eligibility for admission to Post
Graduate Courses shall be 50% for General Merit candidates and 40% for the
candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes (All India) and Other

Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those candidates who become

4. About Member Institutions
Unaided, private Medical and Dental colleges which are members of COMEDK,
across the State of Karnataka, offer various courses in Medical and Dental studies at
Post Graduate level. The courses offered at the Post Graduate level include both Degree
and Diploma programs. Colleges have indicated their willingness to make admission to
their Post Graduate courses based on merit in the Common Entrance Test organized by
COMEDK (COMEDK PGET-2011).
Note:
Minority status applicable to candidates for admission to respective minority
status colleges.
Declaration once made in the application with regard to the category status
like SC / ST / OBC and Minority etc., will not be changed subsequently either
prior to test or counseling. Hence candidates are cautioned to fill in with great
care about the category status.

4.3. Total Sanctioned Intake in Member Institutions
All member institutions are being assessed for increase of Post Graduate
seats for the academic year 2011-12 by the MCI based on revised Post Graduate
regulations. Final outcome and the number of seats following this assessment will
be notified in our website http://www.comedk.org before counseling.
4.4. Fee Structure
The Fees for various courses offered by member institutions is being
reviewed. On finalization this will be notified on our website
http://www.comedk.org before counseling.
5. COMEDK Post Graduate Entrance Test-2011 (COMEDK PGET-2011)
COMEDK will conduct a separate entrance test for Medical and a separate
entrance test for Dental Post Graduate courses called 'COMEDK PGET-2011', for
candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies.
The entrance test is being conducted for use by COMEDK Member Institutions only. The
COMEDK entrance test is mandatory for candidates seeking admissions for the Post
Graduate courses in COMEDK Member Institutions. The COMEDK PGET-2011 test
scores are valid only for admissions during the academic year 2011-2012.

5.1. Instructions for filling the Application Form
A separate link in the website is provided to assist the candidates in filling the
Online Application form.
General Instructions to Candidates
Please ensure that you have the following, ready on hand before you start filling up the
Online Application Form
Note: Send the Application and enclosures in A4 size envelope only. Do not fold the application form.
Demand Draft drawn in favour of "COMEDK", payable at Bangalore for
Rs.1500/- (One Thousand Five Hundred Only).
All marks cards (First Year to Final Year university examination marks card/s)
Attempt Certificate.
Ensure that the online application form is filled up properly and completely.
After you have filled your online application form, click on the Submit button
only once, to send the details to the server.
The server will assign you an application number, and provide the facility to
view your online application form with the details you have filled, along with the
6 digits application number.
Only after verifying the details take a print of the Application Form and the Date
of Birth Certificate.
The completed application form must have the candidate’s signature,
impressions of left thumb, left forefinger and left middle finger.
Kindly do not send any original documents along with the application form.
Kindly stick your recent (not older than six months) passport size colour
photograph only in the space provided. Application Form with smudged /
tampered or hazy photograph will be rejected.
Do not staple or pin your photograph to the application form. Do not Sign. No
attestation is required on the photograph.
Please adhere to the time schedule enlisted in the calendar of events.
Incomplete / incorrect applications will be rejected without prior information to
the candidate.
Multiple application form received from the same candidate will result in
confusion and may result in disqualification.
Demand Drafts in excess of the prescribed fee (Rs.1500/-) if sent by the
candidate will not be refunded.
The COMEDK PGET-2011 will be conducted only at centers in
Bangalore on Sunday the 13th February 2011

Non-refundable fee for taking COMEDK PGET-2011 and attending centralized
counseling, if eligible, is Rs.1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only).
COMEDK is not responsible for any error the candidate makes while filling up
the Application Form.
COMEDK will not entertain any changes in the application form and no refund
will be made.
Candidates who are listed in the Red List featured on our website need to

Note: The recent passport size photographs to be provided have to be identical. It
should not be more than 6 months old. Application with smudged/tampered or hazy
photograph will not be accepted. Any application received not adhering to these
specifications will be rejected without any clarifications and no refund will be made.
The decision of the COMEDK Committee on this would be final and binding.

1. Name of the Applicant
Enter your full Name (as it appears in your SSLC/10th Std), your name should
not exceed 30 characters including the blank spaces.
2. Date of Birth
Provide your date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format only.
For e.g.: If your date of birth is 24th August 1990, fill as 24/08/1990.
3. Course applying for
Select the course Medical / Dental. Please ensure that you meet the eligibility
criteria for the course you select.
4. Gender
Select the appropriate option.
5. Nationality
Select your nationality.
6. Belongs to
Select the type of Domicile Karnataka / Non-Karnataka.

If Karnataka, Select type, i.e. By Birth / By Domicile.
For consideration into Karnataka category, the domicile rules of the
Government of Karnataka will be strictly followed.
If you belong to Karnataka by birth/domicile, and have schooling for not less
than 10 years in Karnataka and MBBS/BDS degrees in colleges recognized by
MCI/DCI and GOI established by law and located in Karnataka State.
Indian Citizens of Karnataka origin, who studied for MBBS/BDS degrees in
colleges outside Karnataka State, recognized by MCI/DCI and GOI and
affiliated to any university established by law in India are also eligible. Such
candidates have to produce certificates issued by the competent authority
to show that he/she or his/her parents (Father/Mother) has been a resident
of Karnataka State for a period of not less than 10 years.

23. Marks Obtained
Please enter the total marks you have obtained in each year during the course of
study in M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. Please ensure that the marks entered by you include the
marks obtained in the theory, practical papers, internal assessment, grace marks,
and viva also for all the subjects of the respective years. Marks obtained at the
University Exam during the successful attempt should alone be entered (supporting
marks card/s to be enclosed). Also mention the number of attempts you have taken to
clear the respective years. Once you have filled up all the marks and the attempts year
wise in the relevant columns, cross verify with the “Grand Total”.
In the case of foreign candidate where the marking system may not be prevalent
and only grades are given, they may indicate the grade and should attach the
authenticated grade report giving marks equivalent ranges issued by the university
in which the candidate has studied. Documents in a language other than English should
be accompanied by a translated English copy authenticated and notarized.
Note: All the marks cards including that of failed, if any, need to be enclosed.
Declaration
The candidate must sign the declaration in the spaces provided for the same in
the application form. The Date and Place must also be filled up in the application form.
After the submission of the online application form, the candidate should take a print of
his/her certificate of printed online Date of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof (COMEDK
Copy and Candidate Copy) made available on the website, have it attested from the
Head of the Institution, where the candidate has last studied, or Gazetted officer not
below the rank of Tahsildar of the area in which the candidate is a resident and submit
the COMEDK Copy along with the print of the online application form, the Demand
Draft and an additional copy of the candidate’s recent passport-size colour photograph.
Any application form without the signature and left thumb, left forefinger and
left middle finger impressions of the candidate is liable to be rejected, without any
further correspondence.

5.2. Test Admission Tickets and Related Information
Candidates appearing for COMEDK PGET-2011 will be issued a Test Admission
Ticket (TAT) for identification. Candidates are required to bring the TAT and the original
(Candidate Copy) Date of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof duly attested by the Head of
the Institution where he/she has studied last or Gazetted officer not below the rank of
Tahsildar of the area in which he/she is a resident, which is similar to the copy submitted
(COMEDK Copy) along with the application form. This is mandatory.
The Test Admission Ticket gives the details of test centre assigned to the
candidate. The candidates are assigned a test centre decided by the COMEDK
authority during the application processing itself, and no requests for change in test
centre would be considered.
The Test Admission Tickets would be dispatched to the candidates by speed
post at the address mentioned in their application form after the applications are
processed. However all Test Admission Ticket will be dispatched by 27/01/2011.
Candidates who do not receive the Test Admission Ticket must check the
COMEDK website in their Applicant Login on or before 05/02/2011, and then contact
COMEDK helpdesk or send email to have the details of the Test Admission Ticket.
COMEDK is not responsible for any loss in transit or for incorrect address
given by the candidate in the Application Form. Effort to collect Duplicate Test
Admission Ticket (TAT) from the Test Centre is the sole responsibility of the
candidate.

Change of address, if any, during the process of COMEDK PGET-2011 must be
intimated through speed post / courier / Email / Fax to COMEDK office to reach not
later than 21/02/2011, the responsibility for the same rests solely with the applicants.
5.2.1 Test and Related Information
The Entrance Test COMEDK PGET-2011 is mandatory for all candidates seeking
admissions to Member Institutions of COMEDK. A merit / rank list is generated based on
the candidate's scores in COMEDK entrance test.
5.2.2. Test Scheme
There will be one test for PG Medical and one test for PG Dental Courses. Each
test will have 180 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ).
The time allotted for the test would be 180 minutes. The test will begin at
10:00AM and end at 1:00PM
Candidates are required to mark their answers in an OMR (Optical Mark Reader)
Answer Sheet.
Each correct answer is awarded one mark.
There will be no negative marking.
However, in the event of a tie in score the principle of least negative responses
(number of wrong answer) will be adopted. In addition, if required, other
methods may be adapted to break ties vide 5.3.2.
No mark/s will be awarded for multiple marking (marking multiple responses) of
any question.

5.2.4. Test Locations
The COMEDK entrance test, COMEDK PGET-2011, will be held in Bangalore city
only. The test will be held on the mentioned time and date in all the test centers. The
details of all the test centers will be published online. The centre address will be
mentioned in the Test Admission Ticket, which would be dispatched to the candidates
prior to the examination as per the calendar of events.

5.2.5. Instructions for Test Takers
Candidates please note:
Report 60 minutes before the commencement of the test (9:00AM)
Test commences at 10:00AM
After 10:15AM candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall to
take the test (Delay by any means of transportation to the city and reaching the
test centre beyond the given time will not be allowed to enter the examination
hall and take the test). It is advisable to reach the Bangalore City a day prior to
the examination.
Candidates must not carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of
papers except the Test Admission Ticket (without the envelope) inside the hall.
Answer sheet: All answers need to be registered on an Optical Mark Reader
(OMR) sheet, which is machine read and evaluated. Candidates must use only
black/blue ballpoint pen for marking their answers on the OMR sheet. Use of erasers or
whiteners is not permitted. (Ref: Appendix-V for format)
OMR answer sheets will be supplied only at the examination hall. After the test
is over, the answer sheet should be given back, before leaving the room.
Candidates are allowed to take the candidate’s copy of the answer sheet only
on completion of the test.
Kindly note that the candidates must sign on their TAT and OMR answer sheets
in the presence of the invigilator, after the invigilator has verified their TAT.
Invigilators will also sign on the column indicating Invigilators Signature on the
OMR Sheet, if not; the answer sheet will be invalid and not be considered for
processing.

The COMEDK PGET-2011 test administration is timed. The test session is
designed to be completed within 180 minutes as indicated in this brochure and
no compromise will be made on the set time limits. The Chief Superintendent of
the test centre is the official timekeeper. Candidates (Test takers) will not be
permitted to continue the test beyond the established time limit.

during the test duration.

5.2.6. Grounds for Dismissal
The COMEDK PGET-2011 test administrator is authorized to dismiss a candidate
from a test session for:
Attempting to take the test for someone else (Impersonation)
Failing to provide acceptable identification when asked for
Creating disturbance at the test venue
Giving or receiving unauthorized help
Eating or drinking during the test
Using any forbidden / unauthorized testing aids, such as personal computational
devices, pagers, cell phones etc.
Leaving the test centre before the stipulated time of 15 minutes, from the start
of the test.
Refusing to follow directions as stipulated by the invigilators etc.
Request for use of toilet during the test is not entertained.
Failure to comply with the test procedures and regulations or with the test
administrator's directions can result in COMEDK taking action/s that include, but are not
limited to, barring candidates from future testing and or cancelling your test scores. If
your scores are cancelled, it will be reported to appropriate competent authority, and
also your test fee will be forfeited.
5.3. Results Publishing
Answer Keys and Test Scores of all the candidates will be published on the
website, http://www.comedk.org. Clarifications, if any, should be sought within the
dates stipulated. Subsequently the final result along with the Merit List will be published
which will be binding on all candidates and no further claim would be entertained
thereafter. (Please refer to the Calendar of Events for details.)
The test results will be published in two stages:

Final Merit / Rank List Publication
The Final Merit / Rank List will be sent to all the regulatory authorities. Individual
rank card will be sent to eligible candidate/s only. The Rank List will also be made
available at the COMEDK website, http://www.comedk.org
5.3.1. Test Score Publishing
Answer Keys to the COMEDK PGET-2011 will be published on the website only
late in the evening, on 13/02/2011.
Clarifications to the answer keys, if any, should be sought between 14/02/2011
to 17/02/2011 (Communications received after 17/02/2011 will not be
entertained).

Applicants seeking any clarifications with regards to:
a. Clarification with regards to the Answer Key/s. (Ref: Appendix-I for format)
have to write to COMEDK, clearly indicating the grievance and with all necessary
enclosures in a prescribed format which can be downloaded from our website. Every
answer key for which clarification is sought should reach to COMEDK office by speed
post along with a Demand Draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred) per item, drawn in
favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore. Only if the clarification sought, is upheld,
the money would be refunded in total.
Any request for clarification of answer keys beyond the last date as stipulated in
calendar of events will not be entertained.
b. Test scores. (Ref: Appendix-II for format) for seeking clarification of Test
Scores, a Demand Draft of Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty) per candidate, drawn
in favour of ‘COMEDK’, payable at Bangalore, should be enclosed. Only if the
clarification sought, is upheld, the money would be refunded in total.
Any verifications / clarifications sought by the applicants will be put forth to the
COMEDK’s Academic Committee for their consideration and the decision given by the
committee will be final and binding on all. No further claims will be considered by
COMEDK after the last date, as indicated above.
5.3.2. Final Merit / Rank List Publishing
The final merit / rank list is generated based on the performance in the entrance
test and the same will be published on 26/02/2011.
Inter-se Merit:
Ties in the test scores, if any, will be resolved based on the following, in the
order specified:
The principle of least negative responses (Number of wrong answers).
Number of additional attempts during the course of study, i.e., M.B.B.S. /
B.D.S.
Total aggregate percentage scored in the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. exams
The age of the candidate, the elder candidate is ranked higher than the
younger candidate.
In case of tie existing after exhausting in all of the above situations, merit will be
based on random selection.

COMEDK Member Institutions will not accept any other qualification of
entrance examination conducted by any other agencies to determine the inter-se
merit.
6. Centralized Counseling (Single window)
Detailed instructions relating to centralized counseling will be put on the
website at a later date.
First round of counseling tentatively will be held in the month of April 2011
Second round of counseling tentatively will be held in the month of May 2011
The COMEDK website http://www.comedk.org is updated regularly. COMEDK
suggests all candidates to visit it frequently for relevant information.
7. Biometrics Verification
Candidates intending to take the Post Graduate Entrance Test 2011 may be
required to undergo biometric verification. (i) during the test (ii) during centralized
counseling for seat selection (iii) at the college level, during the admission process.
To ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent
attempts, it is planned to use Biometrics (Fingerprinting) at various stages of the
process and this would be done at the discretion of COMEDK.
COMEDK reserves the right to change (or) reset the Biometric Verification
parameters at any time during the selection process.
Any mismatch at any stage will automatically result in disqualification of the
candidate and he/she will not be permitted to participate in any further process of seat
selection and admission to PG course. Further, impostors are liable for criminal
prosecution.

applications, or the entrance test, or the results thereof, COMEDK has made the

The process enlisted in this brochure, is based on guidelines prescribed by the
Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and statutory bodies. Any changes indicated by
the statutory bodies during the COMEDK PGET-2011 process are binding on
COMEDK for implementation.
Disputes, if any, are subject to the competent courts/consumer forums
located in the jurisdiction of Bangalore city only.
All documents relating to COMEDK PGET-2011 will be retained for a period of
two years only. Hence any dispute beyond two years from the date of COMEDK
PGET-2011 cannot be entertained.

9. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q. What is the eligibility for the courses?
A. As prescribed by MCI / DCI, candidates who have passed their M.B.B.S. or B.D.S.
from an institution recognised by MCI / DCI and have completed (or are expecting to
complete their internship by 30/04/2011) are eligible for the courses. Candidate/s
should also meet other requirements as prescribed by MCI / DCI.
Q. Is the Entrance Test open only to Karnataka students?
A. No, this test is open to all the eligible students in the country.
Q. Are candidates applying from outside the state of Karnataka eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?
A. Yes, All India SC / ST candidates only are eligible to get the benefit of lower
eligible qualifying marks.
Q. I have finished my M.B.B.S. a few years ago. Am I eligible for these courses?
A. Yes, you can apply for the notified courses, as long as you fulfill the basic
eligibility as prescribed by MCI / DCI.
Q. Is there an age limit for admission to the courses?
A. No, there is no age limit for admission to the courses.
Q. I am interested in applying for certain courses, but these are not listed in the course list provided in this brochure.

A. All filled-in applications must reach the office of COMEDK on or before 22nd

Q. What is the procedure of seat selection?
A. For the academic year 2011-2012, selection of seats for the Post Graduate courses
in Member Institutions will be based on merit, taking into account the performance
of the candidate in COMEDK PGET-2011, COMEDK entrance test & publication of
test score and rank list will be followed by central counseling (Single window). The

Q. How will I know my test results?
A. The results will be intimated to all the eligible candidates individually. The same

Q. If I have 5 clarifications in the answer key, then do I send a DD of Rs.500 or Rs.2500?
A. You have to send a DD of Rs.2500. (Rs.500 per clarification) along with the

Q. Would I get a refund for the amount, which I have sent along with my clarification/s?
A. You would be entitled for a refund only to the extent your clarification/s is/are
upheld by the COMEDK academic committee.
Q. Can I send a black & white photograph?
A. No, the photographs to be provided in the application form, Printed online Date
of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof and the extra copy of photograph have to be
identical. It should not be more than 6 months old. Application with smudged /
tampered or hazy photograph will not be accepted.
Q. What is a Minority Institution and who is eligible to be admitted under Minority Quota?
A. Minority institutions are of two types:
1) Religious Minority 2) Linguistic Minority
Candidates belonging to Karnataka State only are eligible to claim the
minority status. Minority College is entitled to admit candidates from their own
