The overall purpose of this trip was to make arrangements for our 2016 campaign to Belize City and visit various Belizean minis- ters. The following is a daily recap of our visit. Saturday afternoon –We met with Albert Longsworth. He shared with us the success of the campaign in Ladyville conducted by Blake and Drake Jenkins (and 5 others), baptizing 21 new Christians. Melvin Davis joined us later that evening. Sunday –We attended services at the Belize City church. Around 40 attended that morning and we enjoyed seeing some old friends and meeting new ones. During the services (and all week long) tem- peratures were about 100 degrees and there were no fans in the building. We shared lunch with Melvin and his wife Myrna. Evening services had about 15 in attendance. Most of the members are picked up and brought to the services in a van. Most people in Belize have no personal transportation other than a bicycle. Monday –We searched for a hotel that was close to the church building, that was economical, and that would provide meals for about 25 campaigners. That evening we purchased 3 fans for the church building and 3 ceiling fans for the classrooms and pre-school. Tuesday – We drove to Dangriga to visit Rayon Gordon, minister of Dangriga and Silk Grass churches (Dangriga members meet in his home), and deliver to him some study booklets. Rayon is also working in the community of Sarawee, meeting weekly in the community center. Rayon was very grateful for the visit and study books and expressed a desire for Roebuck to conduct a future campaign in that area. Wednesday -We returned to the hotel that offered the most economical value and made final arrange- ments for the 2016 campaign. That afternoon we returned to the church building to install standing floor fans before the Wednesday evening service. These really helped for the Wednesday night Bible class. Thursday -We drove to Corozal to visit Clayton Guzman and his family. Clayton told us about ongo- ing activities with the congregation. He conducted a new Christian Fellowship and 10 who were bap- tized last March attended. We visited new members (from 2015 campaign) in Corozal and Libertad. Clayton was encouraged and expressed thanks for our visit. Friday –At the church building we removed old ceiling fans and installed new ones for the classrooms and pre-school. In the afternoon, we met with Albert Longsworth, minister at Ladyville. We drove to the communities of Crooked Tree and Sandhill. We visited several members in the area including brother Bood. Brother Bood provides transportation for members from this area to Ladyville (19 miles away). Albert is working on finding a permanent building for both communities. In the meantime they plan to worship in a tent in Sandhill. He also would like Roebuck to hold a future gospel meeting in this tent. Saturday – After spending another week in Belize, being reminded of the poverty and the day to day struggle many have in that country and how very blessed we are in the United States, we traveled back to Birmingham. We ask you to pray for the people of Belize and for the success of our 2016 campaign. Notes:

Reviving Our Spirit of Service I remember reading one of the Peanuts comics where Linus said, “There is no greater burden than that of having a great potential.” There are many good people, nice people with great potential service for God. The only thing is that they never move from potential to productive. They are like the car with a transmission that is stuck in neutral. The motor sounds impressive; the lights, brakes and horn are all in good working condition. It has a new set of Michelin tires that are designed for all weather con-ditions. The only problem is that it is not going anywhere. When Jesus wrote to the church at Sardis He told them, “…'These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: "I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.” (NKJV) Here was a congregation that looked good. They had an outstanding reputation in their community. They were a working congregation in many respects. Jesus said that He knew their works but He also said that He had not found their works to be perfect. Yet while their reputation was that of an active, vibrant con-gregation of God’s people, Jesus’ honest assessment of them was that they were dead! Not everything in Sardis was dead. Jesus acknowl-edged that there were some in Sardis who had not defiled their garments. Such were promised that they would walk with Jesus in white for they were worthy. However there were some things in the church that had weakened them to the point that they were ready to die. They were on life support and something needed to be done to keep them from dying also. Jesus told them that they needed to strengthen those things that remained. Some of us need to strengthen and maybe some of us need to revive our spirit of service. Have you ever noticed how much the Bible says about service? There are a number of words in the New Testament that may be translated as “service,” “serving,” “servant,” or “minister.” The Greek word diakoneo means “to render any kind of service.” It was used of Mary who was “distracted with much serving” (Luke 10:40). It was used of Jesus who will serve those whom He finds watching (Lk. 12:37), and Jesus applies it as describing those who will be chief among you “as he that doth serve” and to Himself “as the One who serves” (Lk. 22:26, 27). Another word in the Greek New Testament is douleuo which is the verb form of doulos, a slave. This is the word used of serving God. In His sermon on the mount Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” (Mt. 6:24). It is also used of serving in the gospel (Phil. 2:22) where Paul speaks of Timothy serving with him in the gospel. It is also used of our serving one another (Gal. 5:13). There is also the Greek word latreuo which means “primarily to work for hire,” but it is used of our worship as of service to God (Mt. 4:10). There are about eight different words in the Greek Language that may be rendered as servant. Ser-vice, serve, minister and work, and there are at least 382 verses using the words, serve, service or minister.
