It is a celebration of the Holy Spirit. Jesus promises the disciples that he will not leave them alone, and that they should wait for the Spirit. He then ascends into heaven and the disciples wonder. But today another of Jesus’ promise is fulfilled. How do we know that? The Good News has been proclaimed for over 2000 years, that is the proof. Every generation has raised up men and women whose lives have shown the light of Christ to the world. Today we are his witnesses. We are each called to bring the Good news into our world; whether it is our homes, workplaces, schools or neighborhoods. The question and mandate are will people know Jesus because of our lives? Come Holy Spirit come and fill us with the energy to share the Good News. Today, Sunday June 9th St. Agnes Parish is celebrating their parish picnic at Veterans Memorial Park, Skyline Pool. The picnic begins at noon and goes until 7:00PM. There will be lots of food and drink availa- ble. Mid-Life Crisis will be providing the music for the afternoon. There will be a train for the children and anyone who would like can also use the pool for $5.00. At six we will hold our Skys-the Limit Raffle drawing. There are five large pavilions in the park, so rain or shine we will all be there. Today we also ask you to support our second collection for the priest retirement fund of the Archdio- cese. Now that I have a new position on the Placement Board I told Fr. Tom and Fr. O’Mara that retirement is not an option anymore. But in eleven years when I not an option anymore. But in eleven years when I reach retirement age, we will need your help. All joking aside we appreciate your support when we are active and when we enter retirement. Please be as generous as you can in our second collection today. This Tuesday, June 11th we will be having an evening of reflection for Eucharistic Ministers and Ministers of Care. It will be held at St. Kieran and begins at 7:00 PM. Once again, we invite our present ministers, but also ask anyone interested in becoming a Eucharistic minister or Minister of Care to join us as well. There will be prayer, discussion and fellowship. Please join us. Thanks also to everyone who joined us for the Lector evening of reflection last week. We had a good turn out from both St. Kieran and St. Agnes for the evening. Thanks to all our lectors who volunteer to tell our story each and every week. Today, Sunday June 9th St. Agnes is hosting their parish picnic at Veterans Memorial Park, Skyline Pool, in Glenwood. The picnic begins at noon and runs until 7:00 PM. There will be lots of food and drink available. Mid-Life Crisis will be providing music for the afternoon. There will be a train ride for the children, and the pool is available for anyone for a $5.00 entrance fee. At six we will hold our Skys-The-Limit raffle drawing. There are five large pavilions in the park, so rain or shine we will be there. Everyone from St. Kieran is invited to join their family and friends from St. Agnes. We begin the summer with St. Agnes’ picnic and we end the summer with St. Kieran’s. See you there.

Baby Shower to Benefit the Women’s Center

During the month of May we remember our mothers and, in particular, our Blessed Mother who is honored at this time of year. To highlight and honor motherhood, the Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Baby Shower to benefit the mothers served by the Women’s Center. This Catholic-based support center helps mothers who have decided to give birth to their infants instead of opting for abortion. When mothers make this decision, the Women’s Center supplies anything needed to nurture their families. The Baby Shower will take place all weekends in May to June 9th. Articles may be left on the designated table for these donations that is in the church vestibule. You may, if you wish, pledge your donation in honor or in memory of a loved one by using the form below. Return the completed form with your donation and they will be placed in a basket to be brought forward in prayer during the Knights of Columbus Rosary Rally after the 10 AM Mass on Sunday, June 9th. The names will also appear in our bulletin sometime during the month of June. Articles needed for the Baby Shower are listed below. The Women’s Center is requesting that clothing be limited to anything between zero and 18 months. The Women’s Center is located at 5116 North Cicero Avenue, Chicago IL 60630; they can be contacted at their office phone of (773) 794-1313 and email at [email protected] at any time. Thanks for your generosity in being a part of this event.
