-Public Relations - excellent in promising reform/relief
-Fireside Chats: these were given nightly/weekly by FDR, described his programs & gave progress reports on economy

- Designed for recovery and relief
- Deficit spending- putting the nation in debt in order to spend it on programs that helped the nation

-Bank Holiday- closed all banks to prevent future withdraws – all those that were safe were allowed to reopen- increased confidence in nation’s banks
-FDIC= insured deposits
-SEC= regulate stock market

-mid 1930’s wind storms started
-farms destroyed
-many people migrate to the west
migrant farm workers
“Okies”- nickname of migrants
-”Grapes of Wrath”
John Steinbeck- wrote book about migrants who took Route 66 to California
The Grapes of Wrath????A Little Comic Relief……
Not Enough Help
-By 1935 the economy has still not recovered
-there is enough relief to keep people from starving
-some people start to demand more action
