Join us for a healthy lunch three times a week at the Community Food Centre! This meal is

prepared by Chef Grant and volunteers from our neighbourhood. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy a great lunch. All Community Food Centre programs are FREE to

attend but donations of any value are gratefully accepted. All are welcome and there is no need to

    register.

Just come on in and take a seat.

From berry picking to our Newcomer Summer Gathering, our community food centre has been nothing short of busy!

This summer, we started a Mini Chef program for kids ages 2 to 6. The crowd of kids that come each week is proof that it is never too early to start in the kitchen. We plan to start up again in the winter so watch out for our next intake.

Thanks to a grant from The Winnipeg Foundation, we were able to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day and serve bison stew and bannock for our community lunch. In the afternoon, approximately 30 children from Shaughnessy Park School came to our centre to hear a guest storyteller from the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre, and received wild rice pudding with blueberries as a treat!

Another highlight of the summer is our fruit and veggie market. We’ve taken advantage of the beautiful weather and set up just outside of our centre so that community members walking by can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at an affordable price. From bananas to potatoes, we’re well stocked with many of the basic produce you would find in your fridge and pantry.

Our food centre market is open every Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30. Don’t forget, it’s cash only!
