Merivale residentstake up parking fightBY GABRIELLE STUART

Traffic and parking problems are escalating in Merivale, but residents hope to gain victory tonight in their battle to reclaim car parks outside their homes.

As more businesses have moved in around the intersection of Holmwood Rd and Rossall St, finding a park in the area has become a growing problem for

both customers and residents.Holmwood St resident Roy

Bickerstaffe said customers regularly parked across residents’ driveways because they couldn’t find a park.

He had also found people parked up his driveway, leaving their car there while they went to get a cof-fee at the shops.

He hopes to convince the Fendal-ton-Waimairi Community Board

tonight to put more restrictions on car parking in the area.

That would free up parks by discouraging commuters from parking there.

The block of shops on the corner of Holmwood Rd and Rossall St have been rebuilt and extended since the earthquakes, and include a busy cafe and a bakery.

Mr Bickerstaffe estimated that more than 30 people worked at

businesses on the street, while there were about 60 homes.

About 12 properties were cur-rently empty because homes were being rebuilt or repaired, and some of them were being subdivided, he said.

“If there’s a problem now there will be an increased problem as residents come back, and the street is subdivided further.”

A SEED IN THE EYE….OUCH!

&McMaster HeapVeterinary practice

Willow is a lovely, placid young female Golden Retriever who has a fantastic life exercising with her owner and riding with horses on farms and at the beach. One lucky canine.

Suddenly in January of this year, Willow developed a weepy, sore right eye. This quickly progressed to a sticky eye that had a continuous copious mucky green-yellow discharge visible. There was no cough or sneeze heard. Her left eye remained completely normal.

Despite intensive, appropriate treatment and investigation from Willow’s primary vet, the discharge persisted. The right eye was now inflamed and irritated. Willow was still lively but wasn’t quite herself and she would hold her right eye partially closed.

Willow was referred to Dr Steve Heap in mid – March. At the clinical exam, the yellow discharge could be seen “welling up” from Willow’s lower right tear duct. As soon as the eye was cleaned more discharge would appear.

Apart from this infection of the lacrimal (tear drainage) system and the eye being inflamed there were no other problems detected. Infection of the tear drainage system is termed Dacryocystitis. Steve felt that the most likely cause of this was a foreign body – likely a vegetative foreign body e.g. a seed or barley grass awn that had entered the tear duct considering the terrain she frequents daily.

These can be very difficult and frustrating problems to solve at times. Under a general anaesthetic, Steve carefully put a catheter into the nose and into the exit of the nose end of the lacrimal system. This catheter was lodged firmly in place. The lower tear duct was partially opened. Water was flushed vigorously and copiously through this catheter. After about 10 mls of flushing, there was a blockage for period of 1-2 seconds.

On examination under an operating microscope, the end of a substantial seed was glimpsed. This was then grasped with forceps and removed!! A large “C’mon” was heard from the operating room as this was removed. The lower tear duct was then stitched carefully together.

Ten days post operatively, the right eye was still watery but there had been no mucky, infective discharge for the first time in over 2 months. The best thing was Willow was a lot happier, more energetic and playful than she had been and fully opening the eye. A great result all round and a very satisfying part of my job was being able to resolve the problem for Willow and her owner quickly and atraumatically.

One of the world’s most popular writer and illustrator for children will visit Fendalton Open-air School this month.

Best known for his series Captain Underpants, Dav Pilkey (right) will visit the school on May 23 at noon to bring fun to reading and provide the opportunity for the pupils to meet him and ask questions.

A large public event open to all primary schools will also be held at Shirley Boys’ High School on May 22 at 1.30pm.

Captain Underpants was first published in 1997 and has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide, with more than four million sold in Australia and New Zealand.

The series is being turned into a feature film to be released in 2017 and is in

production with Dreamworks Animation.

In late 2012 The Adventures of Captain Underpants made the Scholastic Top 100 Greatest Books for Kids list.

That same year it also became the most banned book in the United States, beating Fifty Shades of Grey.

Captain Underpants began as a comic book that Pilkey started writing while he was in primary school to cope with bullies and his learning difficulties.

Today he is a strong advocate against bullying, and for helping children who need to learn to read in

different ways.His books have

paved the way for ‘reluctant’ and ‘challenged’ readers

for more than 16 years, and

continue to inspire, educate and make our children laugh. The event at Fendalton Open-

air School will be held at noon and bookings are essential and can be made through The Children’s Bookshop on 366 5274.

FLYING VISIT: Fendalton Open-air School pupils will have the chance to meet Captain Underpants author Dav Pilkey this month.

•From page 1City council traffic engineer

Wayne Anisy has drawn up a report on the issue for the community board, and recom-mended that a 120min parking restriction should be put in place on the eastern end of the street.

That would discourage com-muters from parking there, but allow space for customers or visitors to homes in the area to park.

But Mr Bickerstaffe said the recommendations didn’t go far enough.

He said residents wanted

to see them extended further down the street, and white lines drawn around parks to discourage people from park-ing over driveways.

He has lived in the area for 30 years, and said there needed to be more long term plan-ning around the issue, because traffic problems were growing steadily as more residents and businesses moved in.

Residents and businesses have been consulted on the proposal, and the six submis-sions received were all in fa-vour of it.

But there were disputes over

the restriction times, with most businesses wanting 60min parking, and most residents wanting 120min parking.

There are already 10min parking areas directly outside the shops, so city council staff recommended in the report that 120min parking restrictions be used in the new areas.

The community board has the power to change car parks in the ward without approval from the city council, and is expected to make a decision about the parking restrictions tonight.

Bullets, blood and braveryBY BRIDGET RUTHERFORD

Katie Lewthwaite has always won-dered what the name of her street meant.

And it was not until she dug deeper behind the meaning of Jessons Rd, Harewood when she found the som-bre reality of where the name came from.

Private Leslie Jesson and Private Ernest Jesson, brothers from Hare-wood, were both killed in action while serving in World War 1.

Leslie died in the Battle for Chu-nuk Bair and Ernest died a year later in the Battle of the Somme, the street name is a reminder of their sacrifice.

Both brothers are commemorated at the Harewood School memorial.

And at the Papanui RSA Anzac Day service, Miss Lewthwaite presented a moving speech to hundreds gathered to commemorate 100 years since the landings at Gallipoli.

Miss Lewthwaite, 18, entered the ANZ RSA Cyril Bassett VC Speech Competition in February, inspired by the tales of the Jesson brothers.

Leslie fought with the Canterbury Infantry Regiment at Gallipoli, and was killed in the Battle of Chunuk Bair, which Miss Lewthwaite de-scribed in her speech.

“Shrapnel whizzed past, sharp, un-forgiving. Bullets left, right, centre. The air swarmed with deadly metal. The roar of machine gun anger, the har-rowing cries of dying men, the screams of unimaginable agony they were help-

less to stop. The putrid stench of rot-ting bodies as they lie bloated and dis-figured. The blinding sun relentless in its heat, the dark blood dripping from where bayonets had been wielded.”

His body was never found and he is commemorated on the New Zealand Memorial at Chunuk Bair.

A year later, older brother Ernest was killed while serving as part of the Auckland Infantry Regiment at the Battle of the Somme.

He was reported missing on the first day of the Battle of Flers-Cour-cellete.

inspire student’s Anzac speechA board of inquiry held on No-

vember 24, 1916 found that he had been killed in action on September 15 1916, and he is commemorated on the New Zealand Memorial at Caterpillar Valley in the Somme.

Miss Lewthwaite was fascinated with their story and although she did not win the speech competition, she was specially asked to present it at the Anzac service.

“I really enjoy history, I enjoy re-searching it, I do that for fun.”

About 30 to 40 people praised her after the service, including the great-nephew of Leslie Jesson.

Miss Lewthwaite said he ap-proached her after the service and told her he had been crying for about half an hour because she spoke of his great-uncle.

“It was good to know that they [the family] were happy that I talked about him.

“It was pretty special.”She started writing the speech late

last year, and knew it off by heart by February.

It caught the attention of Hare-wood resident Reg Williams who attended the Papanui service.

He had never seen a larger atten-dance at the Papanui service and said Miss Lewthwaite’s speech was outstanding.

“I have crammed a lot of liv-ing into my 70-plus years and have never heard a speech delivered with such passion, dedication and clarity.

“To do this to such a large gather-ing without a piece of paper in sight

was truly amazing.”He felt proud to be there for such

a speech.“I would undoubtedly say she

would be the best public speaker I have ever heard.”

Miss Lewthwaite has also been asked to present her speech at Cash-mere View Retirement Village’s be-lated Anzac service this month.

She has being going to dawn ser-vices since she was a child and said the amount of people attending had gone up in the last couple of years.

But it was the younger generation that had to carry on the memory of those who fought, she said.

“We definitely have a responsibil-ity which a lot of people forget.”

• Private Leslie Jesson, a former student at Harewood School, was killed in action on August 7, 1915 in the battle for Chunuk Bair in the Gallipoli campaign. He had enlisted in December 1914 and had arrived in Gallipoli in May 1915. Like many other men who served in Gallipoli, his health suffered and he had been evacuated on June 3 to Egypt to recover from enteritis. Five weeks later he was back in Gallipoli and killed as part of the Canterbury Infantry Regiment’s assault on Rhodo-dendron Ridge. His body was never found and he is com-memorated on the New Zealand Memorial at Chunuk Bair.

• Private Ernest Harold Jes-son, like his brother Leslie, had attended Harewood School but moved to work on a farm at Kihikihi in the Waikato. So in enlisting in January 1916, at the age of 34 was part of the Auckland Infantry Regiment. He left for overseas service in June 1916, arriving in France on August 21 and joined his battalion 10 days later. His front line service was short and was reported missing on the first day of the Battle of Flers-Courcellete. A board of inquiry held on November 24, 1916 found that he had been killed in action on September

15, 1916 and he is commemo-rated with many others of the missing on the New Zealand Memorial at Caterpillar Valley in the Somme.

• Battle of Chunuk BairThe Battle of Chunuk Bair

in August 1915 was one of the New Zealanders’ victories in the Gallipoli campaign. The New Zealand Infantry Brigade advanced towards the sum-mit of Chunuk Bair during the night of August 6, but the attack fell behind schedule and the New Zealanders were still 1km short of the summit when dawn broke. The soldiers took shelter on Rhododendron Ridge and in a mid-morning attack the Auckland Battal-ion suffered heavy casualties to reach the Pinnacle, 200m from the summit. Welling-ton Battalion’s commander Lieutenant-Colonel William Malone refused to sacrifice his men in a daylight attack and held off until the night of August 8. When the sun rose, the Wellington men, assisted by some Auckland mounted riflemen and British troops who also reached the summit, engaged in a desperate struggle to hold off the Turks. Seventy Wellington soldiers, out of 760, held Chunuk Bair until they were relieved during the night

of August 9-10 by two British battalions, which almost imme-diately succumbed to a massive counter-attack launched by the Turks.

• Battle of the SommeThe New Zealand Division

joined the Battle of the Somme on the Western Front in mid-September 1916. The Allies planned to shell the German lines in an attempt to destroy all forward German defences. The Allied troops could then move across no-man’s-land and over-run the enemy. It was expected that the surprised Germans, exhausted from the week-long bombardment of their trenches and bunkers, would put up little fight. The Allies could then advance on the next line of trenches, with troops mov-ing safely behind a curtain of artillery fire, but the reality was heavy casualties and excruciat-ingly slow progress. The battle was a pivotal event that laid the basis for the Allied victory in World War 1 but of the 15,000 New Zealand soldiers at the Somme, nearly 6000 were wounded and 2000 died. On November 18, the British aban-doned the offensive after only gaining 12km. On February 24, 1917, the Germans withdrew from the area.

An Anzac Day service held at the Belfast War Memorial in Sheldon Park, was attended by more than 200 people.

The event was organised by the Belfast Bowling Club, Belfast Community Network and Belfast School.

Ken Gray and Maurice Fuller both helped organ-ise the service and wanted to make it special for the centenary.

Mr Gray said: “We have organised this event for the past three years but with it being the 100th commemo-ration we thought it would be great to open it up to the wider community. We are thrilled with the turnout and the support from the Belfast community.”

While there were many

speakers, Belfast School head boy Zeke De Gouw and head girl Lagan Edwards spoke of how as young people, they view the importance of Anzac Day.

Zeke said in his speech: “For younger generations, it is sometimes difficult to understand why it is with gratitude that we should remember, but we have enjoyed the benefits of the peace and easy existence, which was purchased at the cost of many lives.”

Belfast Community Network manager Lynda Goodrick said the event was significant for the community.

“Having local organisa-tions come together to share the work was very much in the Anzac spirit.”

A Bishopdale man had a very special Anzac Day.

Graeme Parish made 100 Anzac crosses which have now been placed in front of the Papanui RSA.

Mr Parish is an active member of the community and decided he wanted to contribute to the Anzac commemorations and Fields of Remembrance in honour of his grandfather.

This project was designed to commemorate and remember each year from Gallipoli to the current day.

Each of the crosses has a year inscribed and will represent a period of time to reflect on the men and women who have fought for New Zealand over the last 100 years.

Mr Parish has made the crosses with support from members of the Bishopdale MenzShed who are under the umbrella of the Bishop-dale Community Trust.

Mr Parish has various impairments including learning disabilities and while contributing to the community, knows that this project will also enhance his relationship with the neighbourhood he associates with.

WE REMEMBER: Belfast School head boy Zeke De Gouw and head girl Lagan Edwards, spoke of the impor-tance of Anzac commemora-tions at the service.

The disaster and destruction wreaked from the Canterbury earthquakes has created a chance for Housing New Zealand to re-configure and modernise its hous-ing stock in greater Christchurch.

It is often said that out of di-saster, comes opportunity and it is this philosophy that is driving Housing NZ through the final year of its massive earthquake-recovery programme.

This work has a price tag of about $350 million and sees up to 5000 earthquake-damaged houses repaired and updated and the con-struction of 700 modern, warm and dry homes.

The earthquakes had a major impact on Housing NZ’s Canter-bury stock with more than 95 per cent of its 6200 properties dam-aged.

Many were uneconomic to re-pair, others were located in the “red zone’’ and later demolished and cleared from damaged land. Thousands of others needed re-pairs so they could continue to be safe for tenants.

In early 2013, the Government charged Housing NZ with deliver-ing a comprehensive programme of work that would see up to 5000 earthquake-damaged properties repaired and up to 700 new homes built.

When completed by the end of 2015, this would restore its Christ-church housing stock to pre-earthquake levels.

Housing NZ settled its earth-quake insurance claim in April 2013 for $320 million. This money is being reinvested into the region to complete both arms of the re-covery programme.

An earthquake recovery team, headed by general manager Paul Commons, was formed to handle the huge job of co-ordinating the repairs needed urgently, ensuring tenants were looked after, recruit-ing contractors and others to help with the repairs and to co-ordinate the programme of repairs and new builds.

MWH and Arrow International were contracted to oversee and co-

ordinate the delivery of the minor and major repairs respectively.

Housing NZ has separated the repair programme into two spe-cialised areas – the minor repair programme including repairs up to between $40,000 and $50,000. The major programme covers re-pairs over that figure.

At its peak, up to 1000 work-ers will be involved in the pro-gramme, making it a significant cog in the wheel of the Canterbury earthquake recovery.

Mr Commons said repairing earthquake-damaged properties was a key part of the overall pro-gramme to improve the quality of its

social housing stock in the region.More than 650 staff working

across 16 suburbs are involved in this programme of work.

The team also includes a group of tenancy liaison staff whose role is to support tenants who need to have repairs carried out at their properties.

In many cases, tenants can con-tinue living in their home while repairs are done but sometimes, it is easier for them if they are tem-porarily relocated to alternative accommodation while the repairs are carried out.

Mr Commons said there were many moving parts to the pro-

gramme but a well co-ordinated management style across different arms of Housing NZ, its contrac-tors, building partners and ten-ants meant the programme had tracked well and was on schedule to achieve a challenging target set by the Government.

Both targets – repairs of up to 5000 properties and the construc-tion of up to 700 new homes – are to be completed by the end of 2015.

As at March 31, there had been 3624 completed repairs and 159 new homes built across the city.

More than 420 were under construction and 219 were being negotiated and evaluated for con-struction.

The new builds programme is helping modernise Housing NZ’s stock across the city with new warm, dry homes under construc-tion throughout Christchurch.

Suburbs throughout Christ-church – from the city’s western areas like Riccarton through to communities in the city’s east like Aranui and Shirley, which sus-tained some of the worst damage in the earthquakes – are getting new social housing.

An example of a new develop-ment is at Addington’s Church Square. Three separate sections that each accommodated a three-bedroom house were amalgamat-ed into one title and 10 new two-bedroom homes were built on the new enlarged site.

NEW: These five two-bedroom units in Elizabeth Rd, Riccarton were completed earlier this year.

programme

Late last year, Prime Minister John Key visited this new development.

He was very impressed with the quality of the housing and also spoke to tenant, Paul Meek, who said he was thrilled to have been offered a brand-new home.

“I just love it,’’ he told Mr Key.Older properties are also getting plenty

of attention in the earthquake recovery programme.

An innovative partnership between Housing NZ and the Department of Cor-rections is already paying dividends.

Over the next few years, earthquake-damaged houses will be transported to

Rolleston Prison, where prisoners under supervision, upgrade the houses.

At the same time, the prisoners have the chance to upskill their qualifications, raise their self-esteem, keep themselves busy while in prison and help breathe new life in those houses.

The construction yard at the prison site has about 50 houses either undergoing re-pairs. Seven are ready to be relocated and another seven will be ready by June.

The joint Housing NZ and Department of Corrections refurbishment programme has already seen four completely renovated properties moved to an Aranui site where families now enjoy the warm, revitalised homes.

Over time, 150 homes in need of repair will be taken to Rolleston Prison where prisoners will upgrade them.

The work included recladding, rewiring and replumbing the houses. In some cases, the layout of the house is changed so they can be better configured for future tenants.

The programme has been dubbed the Second Chance scheme. It offers a second chance to the prisoners, some of whom have found building-related jobs after their release.

Mr Commons said the agency was pleased to be able help provide training op-portunities for prisoners, while getting to recycle houses.

“At the end we get modern and fit-for-purpose housing for people in need,” he said.

Post 2015, more new social housing will be developed throughout Christchurch as Housing NZ further modernises its stock and continues being the social housing provider of choice.

In a solemn occasion at Shir-ley Boys’ High School on the eve of Anzac Day,  students and teachers took part in re-membering the bravery of the Anzac’s by sharing inspiring and personal stories.

Headmaster John Lauren-son emphasised that Anzac Day was not a time to glorify war but to honour the sacri-fice.

Deputy principal Sue Nesbit spoke of her grandfather who served in World War 1 and her father in World War 2.

Head boy Dominic Bain spoke of the celebration of the peace which so many battled to achieve.

George Cox, deputy head boy, recited John McCrae’s touching poem In Flanders Fields about the hardships of war.

A wreath was laid by stu-dent Liam Walker with cur-rent teacher and former mem-ber of the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, Dominic Bell.

Students were encour-aged to research a New Zea-land soldier from among the names of many on those writ-ten on six display boards.

Among these was one laid by student Hamish McLauch-lan in memory of a 23-year old relative Alexander McLauchlan of the Wellington Infantry Bat-talion who was killed in action at Gallipoli in August 1915.

Bagpipers performed a Gallipoli remembrance tune, which was written especially for the event, Reveille and Last Post were played, which brought an eerie sense of re-flection to the service.

Following this, each student was presented with a poppy

and the whole student body was quickly decorated in red on black jerseys.

In a fitting tribute to the Anzac heroes many poppies were also later laid alongside the rows of white crosses below the school flagstaff.

Thousands of young people attending the Christchurch Careers Expo over the next few days will be looking to their future transition

from school into the world of work. is is where the Careers Expo presents an unparalleled opportunity to connect directly with those most able to provide guidance and information needed to make informed choices for the journey ahead.

ere are skills shortages aplenty in New Zealand, for instance in building construction in Christchurch. e economy is booming, yet statistics show that a lot of young people are still not nding work, with unemployed aged between 15 and 24 at

Youth need guidance ontransition from school to jobs

unacceptably high levels. Director of the Careers Expo Mark Gillard,

does not believe that these people aren’t interested in work; he believes the problem stems from the crucial transition between school and the workforce.

Pointing to international research carried out by the UK’s Education and Employers Taskforce, Mr Gillard explains that there needs to be an increase in interaction between businesses and young people, when young adults are still at school.

“ eir research entitled It’s Who You Meet found that students from all demographics bene tted from early interaction and engagement with business, being considerably

less likely to end up without a job, outside of training or education.”

All new World of Work

In a bid to more e ectively bridge the gap between learning and work, we’ve developed a new interactive World of Work hub as part of the 2015 Careers Expo to bring job seekers and employers closer together.

Each year, around 160,000 Kiwi secondary school students (years 10-13) make decisions about their careers and life a er school, such as where and what to study and what they want to achieve in life. ese are huge decisions for young people, and the more

less likely to end up without a job, outside of

information we can provide to help make the best choices at this time, the better.

Being able to talk to someone ‘on the job’ or from an industry body can help clarify many of the questions that sit around the transition into the workforce: What is it really like to work in a particular sector? What are the costs of training? How long will it take? And, will there be a job for me at the end of my training?

Our new World of Work hub takes a close up look at the top 10 things employers want from potential employees, how to create a CV, interview tips, long-term marketplace outlook and skills shortage information, and hands-on demonstrations from those in the workplace.

Connecting with tertiary training organisations, industry groups and future employers is so important for young people to do. It is never too early to start thinking about their future and they should take advantage of opportunities to connect directly with future employers.

Sometimes it’s not what you know, but who. And it’s true that rst impressions count. e Careers Expo and the World of Work provide the ideal opportunity for young people and their families to scope out the wide range of opportunities that exist, and to talk through about future plans.

St Patrick’s School pupils were amazed by what they learned about the early European settlers during a visit to the Canterbury Museum last week.

The year 0 to 8 pupils dressed up in clothing from different periods of New Zealand history, and were amazed they could fit in adult clothes and that the early Europe-ans were so small and had such a low life expectancy.

The visit to the museum was part of a term focus on ‘our past, our present, our future’.

One of the pupils said this about the visit:

“We learned that on the Euro-pean ship (The Charlotte Jane) many got sick and died.

“We also learnt about the Euro-peans and why exactly they came to this country and what they went through.

“We learnt that the Europeans had to have a reason for dying easily but we never expected they were so short and small compared to us, some of our seven and eight-year-olds could fit the adult sizes from their time.

“There was no chance of Room 1 wearing the children’s clothes.

“We saw many pictures and various trinkets that showed what it was like for the Europeans, a vi-sual help was a great thing to help us understand.

“We also played something like a choose your own adven-ture game where we chose what we packed for the ship and what colour cards we wanted to have

which affected our outcome.“I couldn’t forget the part where

we got to walk freely around in a group with an adult (it wasn’t my favourite but it was cool).”

BY MARK THOMAS – FIRE RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICER

There were six kitchen fires this week.

None of them burnt the house down but all of them caused incon-venience, stress, in one case burns and in all cases at least some damage.

In one incident in Arlington St, Burnside, all the occupants had to do once the smoke was cleared by Harewood’s crew was peel some more spuds. Unfortunately, to be eaten in a still slightly smelly, slight-ly smokey, dining room.

In Picton Ave, Riccarton, a quick thinking occupant threw flour over a burning pot on Sunday evening. Surprisingly it worked. Not quite the actions we recommend but in this case effective. However, the most effective action is to stay in the kitchen. Gives you the best chance to stop a fire as soon as it starts.

I’ve been in a few incidents over the years where ammonia has leaked. In the thick of it we would wear breathing apparatus but well away would be staff running pumps or whatever who were not pro-tected. When in that position quite often you got a whiff of the stuff. It brings tears to the eyes.

The occupant of a house in Broomfield got a fairly bad dose on Monday when his fridge dumped its ammonia contents through a leak. He required ambulance treatment. The Sockburn crew removed the fridge outside by which time it was drained.

St Albans 9-year-old, Emma Mason, has attended a na-tional swimming camp in Auckland featuring 30 of New Zealand’s future swim-ming stars.

Emma said the camp was a great opportunity and she learnt a lot of new skills.

“What I enjoyed most at the camp was meeting the elite swimmers and making more friends. I have learnt some great skills for how to

swim in the open water.”The 30 children and their

caregivers were flown in from around the country to take part in the camp.

They were mentored by the recently-crowned winners of the State New Zealand Ocean Swim Series – Nathan Capp and Charlotte Webby – and elite swimmers – Kane Radford and Emma Robinson.

Also poolside to teach the

children was respected swim coach and 1990 Common-wealth Games gold medal-list, Rick Wells.

Each season there are 30 sought after places on of-fer for six to 10-year-olds. The successful swimmers gained entry by winning their age group at one of the five OceanKids 200m events at the various ocean swim events around the country held over summer.

ere are ve kits altogether, each pairing two Tecni.ART products. When used together, the products help clients achieve one on trend look – the Messy Braid, Shaggy Lob, Bouncy Waves, XXL Volume or Asymmetric Pixie.

ere’s little that grounds a romantically e ortless look like the simple, single braid.

Braids have been hugely popular on the recent Fall 2015 Fashion Week runways, and a good one is eternally chic. So it’s probably no surprise Tecni.ART launches a Messy Braid Kit. e kit contains Tecni.ART Fix Design and Tecni.ART Super Dust for a textured, voluminous and stylishly lived-in braid while leaving hair rmly secured in place.

e Shaggy Lob is this season’s cooler, modern take on the ubiquitous lob haircut. e Shaggy Lob Kit, comprises Tecni.ART Wild Stylers Next Day Hair and Tecni.ART

Wild Stylers Scru Me, refreshing the look with a modern, matte nish.

Bouncy waves this season have a slight retro vibe, think early 70s and French. Bouncy waves can now be achieved with the Bouncy Blow Dry Kit containing Tecni.ART Full Volume Extra and Tecni.ART Fix Anti-Frizz. Combined, the products lock in curls and give natural movement and sleekness to this style.

A voluminous style focuses on the hair’s natural texture, perfect for curly hair types. e XXL Volume Kit comprises Tecni.ART Wild Stylers Crêpage de Chignon and Tecni.

ART Pli, amplifying volume from root to tip while adding shape, texture and hold.

e pixie cut was a major hair trend last season, but this year sees the originally short style evolve in to a longer, so er version. e Asymmetric Pixie Kit contains Tecni.ART Fix Max and Tecni.ART Wild Stylers Depolish, o ering a number of styling options. Wear the look tousled, piecey and mismatched, or it can be fashioned in to a sleek side-parting.

GRASSROOTS SPORT

Two Canterbury University students are juggling their studies with preparations for the Ulti-mate Frisbee World Champion-ship in London, in July.

Keith Algar, 19, and Chris Carr, 21, have both been picked to represent New Zealand in the men’s under-23 team.

Algar is in his second year studying engineering and Carr is in his fourth year studying engineering and biology.

Officially known as ultimate, the aim of the game is to catch the frisbee in the other team’s end zone. For the championship tour-nament the first team to reach 17 goals in 100min wins.

Carr said the sport offers a great balance of competitiveness and social interaction.

“It’s all self-refereed, which means that the players on the field are responsible for calling fouls. This means that players generally have more of a focus on playing fairly.

“I started playing in my first year at university to meet new people. The game has the benefit of attracting quite cool people and you make pretty good friends,” Carr said.

Ultimate has a small yet grow-ing profile in New Zealand, but has limited funding available. Carr said the costs of getting to

the world championship are dif-ficult to meet.

“The flights to London are the main cost, but as part of our preparation we also have a train-ing camp every two weeks and they’re usually held in Auck-land or Wellington, so the costs of those flights add up pretty quickly.”

Carr works when he can, as well as balancing training every night and full-time study as he works toward two degrees.

The whole family enjoys sport in their spare time; Chris’ brother also plays ultimate. His

father and vice-chancellor of the university, Dr Rod Carr, enjoys swimming and running, having completed the London, Paris, Athens, Boston, New York, Istan-bul and Antarctica marathons in the last 11 years.

Carr says that winning the ulti-mate championship would be the perfect underdog story, although unrealistic.

“Getting into the top eight is one of our goals as we finished 10th in 2013. It’s all about build-ing and growing the sport. It’s still tiny in New Zealand, but it’s growing rapidly,” he says.

BIG STAGE: Chris Carr during an ultimate match. He has been selected to represent the New Zealand under-23 side to play at the world championships in London.

The ultimate challengeBY BRIDGET RUTHERFORD

A plaque to remember the Russley Rd Baseline Monument relocation project will be formally unveiled in Avonhead Park next week.

The New Zealand Institute of Surveyors Canterbury Branch had the plaque made to sit alongside the monument’s new location and members will gather on May 15 for the unveiling.

It originally sat next to Russley Rd to commemorate the activities of Captain J Thomas, C.O Torlesse and T Cass who measured out the base line for the survey of the Can-terbury settlement in September 1849.

But the monument needed to move to make way for the Russley Rd four-lane expressway upgrade.

Surveyors took about a year try-ing to find a suitable location along the baseline to move the monu-ment to, and Avonhead Park was chosen.

It was relocated in 2012, and the position of the monument and brass plaque have been surveyed and entered into the Geodetic Da-tabase.

New Zealand Institute of Sur-veyors Canterbury Branch repre-sentative Todd Airey said the new plaque was not only to commemo-rate the work of past surveyors, but to remember its relocation.

He said it was not an easy process,

and heavy machinery was needed to move the monument twice, once to a secure site office, and the sec-ond move to Avonhead Park.

“It’s for our members to think back to 1849 and reflect on where we’ve got to now.”

After the unveiling, the group will then go to Monteiths Brewery Bar on Merrin St for a catch up with friends and colleagues.

UNVEILING: A plaque to remember the the Russley Rd Baseline Monument relocation project now sits in front of the original monument in Avonhead Park.

FOODFeijoas: On the tongue and in your face‘LET food be your medicine,” said Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine. Am I right in thinking there is a resurgence in the inter-est in feijoas?

Just lately it seems every food (and many non-food) conversa-tions include feijoas.

For example, a friend is swear-ing by her sliced feijoa face mask.

Leave it on for 10 minutes and feel the difference. Well, feijoas are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, minerals and fibre so maybe this natural beauty aid could be promoted as a “superfood” facial!

And last night someone asked me what wine they should serve with poached feijoa ice cream. Smell the fruit then smell a gewurztraminer.

The aromas are so similar that

it’s really a match made in heaven. One advantage over their rival

kiwifruit is that feijoas can be enjoyed fresh or cooked.

Kiwifruit tend to lose their vibrancy when cooked.

Feijoas are ready to eat when slightly soft.

The centre section of the freshly cut fruit should be clear and jelly-like.

If the centre is hard and white it is unripe.

If it is brown and translucent it is past its prime.

To prevent the cut fruit from oxidising (going brown) I use vi-tamin C powder that I purchased from the local healthfood shop.

A little goes a long way. One quarter of a teaspoon in

three to four tablespoons of water is enough to prevent at least 500 grams of cut fruit from discolour-ing.

If necessary, the fruit can be drained before use. Lemon juice is another option, but for me, vitamin C powder is a necessary pantry staple.

Firm feijoas should be stored at room temperature to ripen. Once soft, keep them in the refrigerator.

Because the skin is tart it is not usually eaten although unpeeled feijoas are great in jams or pickles.

Q A&DO YOU HAVE A RECIPE FORZUCCHINI SOUP?Saute 250g chopped onion in25g butter, then add 250gpeeled and diced potatofollowed by 500g roughly-chopped zucchini.

Stir-fry a fewminutesmore, then add 1 tsp saltand 2 cups chicken stock.Cover and cook 20minutesor until vegetables aretender, stir in 1 cupmilk andblend until smooth. Addmore salt if necessary plusfreshly ground black pepperand 1 tbsp chopped freshherbs, such as parsley, chives and thyme. Reheatgently, sprinklingindividual serves withgrated cheddar.

WHY DO SO MANY DISHES CALLFOR AN ONION COOKED INBUTTER BEFORE THE MAINCOOKING?

For flavour. Some recipessuggest cooking untiltender but not brown, others go on until the

onions are golden orcaramelised. Either way it’sworth it if you enjoy tastyfood. You can cut theamount of fat used bycovering the pot while youronion cooks— the lidcollects moisture thatwould normally evaporate, and by returning this to theonion, it avoids burning.

Put 1 cup offreshly-cooked rice (eg,short grain or brown rice) ina blender, add 4 cups hotwater and 1/2 teaspoonvanilla essence (optional).Process for 5minutes oruntil very smooth then letstand for 30minutes beforecarefully pouring the liquid(but not the sediment) into afresh container. Or, strainthemixture throughcheesecloth. Store in therefrigerator and use withinthree days.

Feijoas:On the tongue and in your face

‘LETfood be yourmedicine,” saidHippocrates, thefather ofWesternmedicine.

Am I right in thinking there isa resurgence in the interest infeijoas?Just lately it seems every

food (andmany non-food)conversations include feijoas. For example, a friend is

swearing by her sliced feijoafacemask.Leave it on for 10minutes and

feel the difference.Well, feijoasare rich in antioxidants, vitaminC, minerals and fibre somaybethis natural beauty aid could bepromoted as a “superfood”facial! And last night someone

askedmewhat wine they shouldserve with poached feijoaicecream. Smell the fruit thensmell a gewurztraminer. The aromas are so similar

that it’s really amatchmade inheaven. One advantage over their

rival kiwifruit is that feijoas canbe enjoyed fresh or cooked.Kiwifruit tend to lose their

vibrancywhen cooked.Feijoas are ready to eat when

slightly soft. The centre section of the

freshly cut fruit should be clearand jelly-like.If the centre is hard andwhite

it is unripe. If it is brown and translucent

it is past its prime. To prevent the cut fruit from

oxidising (going brown) I usevitamin C powder that Ipurchased from the local health-food shop.A little goes a longway. One quarter of a teaspoon in

three to four tablespoons ofwater is enough to prevent at

least 500 grams of cut fruit fromdiscolouring. If necessary, the fruit can be

drained before use. Lemon juiceis another option, but for me,vitamin C powder is a necessarypantry staple.Firm feijoas should be stored

at room temperature to ripen.Once soft, keep them in therefrigerator.Because the skin is tart it is

not usually eaten althoughunpeeled feijoas are great injams or pickles.

Stress: it makes your heart race, your head pound and your stom-ach churn.

Although a little stress can be a good thing and help motivate us when needed, too much stress can lead to negative health effects including headaches, upset stom-ach, back pain, trouble sleeping and a weakened immune system. In fact, the American Institute of Stress reports that up to 90 per cent of visits to primary care doc-tors are due to stress-related health problems.

“Stress can seem unavoidable. Work demands, family obligations and financial pressures all contrib-ute to our stress levels,” says psy-chologist Dr Ruth Kenzelmann, “but there are steps you can take to derail stress as it’s happening, and prevent it from interfering with your health and quality of life.”

Kenzelmann suggests some things you can do “in-the-moment” when you’re feeling stressed:

Take three deep breathsDeep breathing can really help

reduce stress symptoms or prepare for a situation that you know will be stressful, like a meeting with your boss. Be conscious of letting your belly expand and contract as you breathe. Roll your shoulders and rotate your neck gently, too.

Make a daily break part of your workday

Working through lunch and for long hours has become routine for many of us. But it’s not a healthy

habit and can even reduce your productivity. If you’re feeling stressed or know a stressful day is coming, schedule a short walk or bike ride, have lunch in a park, visit the gym or take a break with a co-worker at a local coffee shop. Write it into your schedule.

Seek optimismHow you think about and inter-

pret events as they unfold can turn the dial up or down on your stress.

When faced with a stressful day, allow yourself to take a moment to find the good: what makes you lucky to be there?

What are you enjoying right now? Take a few moments to savour what’s good about your situation.

Kenzelmann recommends using these stress-prevention techniques to help change the way you ap-proach and think about certain situations:

Value relationshipsPositive connections with other

people are a great remedy for life’s daily challenges. Each evening, think about the three best social connections of your day and how connected and in touch you felt.

Doing this little “mental check-in” with yourself can increase positivity almost as effectively as doing regular meditation.

Find and use your strengths

People who have the opportu-nity to act on their strengths and do what they do best every day are far more likely to be resilient and energised. Take time to clearly understand your own strengths, and then make sure you have ways to use them in your daily life.

The boost in positivity that comes from finding new ways to apply your strengths is significant.

Practice mindfulnessThis can take practice, but there

are many short, easy guides and even mobile apps to walk you through the practice of mindful-ness. When you are mindful, you are focusing on your thoughts, emotions and sensations at the very moment. If this all sounds too “new age-y” for you, don’t knock it until you try it.

MONEY

For various reasons, women face a higher level of finan-cial risk than men. There are differences between men and women with regard to lifespan, lifestyles, income and prejudices which can have a negative effect on a woman’s financial position.

Women live on average about four years longer than men and, in a heterosexual relationship, tend to partner with men the same age or older. They are therefore much more likely to be liv-ing on their own in retire-ment than men.

Women earn on average significantly less than men and it is harder for them to save for unexpected expenses, their financial goals, or retirement. This is not necessarily an issue in a relationship where financial assets are shared, but the reality is that many relation-ships today end in separa-

tion or divorce.Women’s careers are more

likely to be interrupted by child rearing or caring for elderly parents. It has been said that for every year a woman stays home to look after a child, she must work five extra years to recover lost income, retirement sav-ings and career promotions.

A survey done in 2013 for the Commission for Finan-cial Capability showed that men tend to have higher financial knowledge than women. This is especially true of older age groups and as a result many women, particularly older ones, lack confidence in money mat-ters. Women worry about their long-term financial

futures and are sometimes more risk averse, however they are more likely to seek and accept financial advice.

It is important that women either increase their knowledge or obtain advice from someone they trust. The extra risks faced by women make it even more important for them to plan, especially for retirement.

Crucial for women to plan their finances

Wanganui Chronicle Thursday, June 13, 2013 31

It’s simply amatter ofstretching your targets

RussellBellBUSINESS ZEN

IT’STHEMIDDLE of Juneand 50 per cent of the yearis already almost behindus. Time flies when you are

having fun and, for many of us,that’s what this time of year isabout—with the ski seasonalmost here and others lookingfor winter escapes. It’s also a good time to look

ahead and plan for futuresuccess. Strategic planning isan essential component ofsuccessful business and I havetwo plans— one formyself andone for the business— both areintertwined.Formany of us, our

businesses are a reflection ofourselves, so it makes sensethat whenwe plan for ourbusiness(es), they reflect ourown goals and ambitions. So, what are you going to

achieve for the remainder ofthis year? What are yourtargets? Are you going to letlife happen or take astructured approach? It’s important that you set

goals for yourself and yourbusiness that energise, motivate, aremeasurable andattainable. However, you

shouldmake sure that you alsoset some stretch targets. My personal plan includes

revampingmy fitness and hasmany stretches . . . and stretchtargets! I have resolved toexercise at least three times aweek. I did start this columnwith the ‘‘time flies’’ statement, but it seems that in that fitnesstime, I can create an ability toslow time significantly or stopit entirely. So I am going to dust off the

previously unused stepmachine at home. And I will seta goal of ‘‘stepping’’ aparticular distance each day.Given that the garage isn’twarm, there is incentive to getmotivated. The stretch target is to

make this activity daily. OK,not much of a stretch, but rightnow I am about as fit as a BigMac is nutritious.

The key to stretch targets isthat they do just that; theystretch you to new levels ofperformance and, likemuscleswhen you exercise, you andyour business develop newstrengths as you achieve them.I know it won’t be easy—

particularly starting fromscratch— but I want to beexercising every day if I can. Sowhat do you dowhen thingsget toughwhen pursuing agoal? Instead of giving up, youget energised. And although itis a stretch, I believe it isattainable.Oncemy fitness returns, it

will be a goal achieved, and Iwill have developedmoreconfidence andwill feel bettertoo. It’s the same for goal setting

and strategic planning— setyour targets so you knowwhere you are going andinclude some stretch targets. The benefits to you and yourbusiness will be exponential.■ If you would like helpimplementing stretch targetsinto your strategic plan, giveZenith Solutions a call on 3479997.

Get goodadvice beforeinvesting overseas

It is not uncommon for NewZealanders to have overseasinvestments.Examplesmight be shares in

foreign companies, foreign unittrust investments, foreignsuperannuation schemes andforeign life insurance policies. There are some pitfalls in leaving

these investments overseas. If your overseas investments

have a value greater than $50,000,they could well be liable for tax inNew Zealand. This is called aForeign Investment Fund (FIF) tax. There are a number of options youcan choose from as to to calculate itand youwill need help from anaccountant or financial adviser.Certain overseas investments,

particularly Australian ones, areexempt from FIF tax.Under current NZ law, an

overseas adviser who providesinvestment advice to a NZ residentmust be an Authorised FinancialAdviser (AFA) as determined in theFinancial Advisers Act.Australian advisersmay in some

circumstances be exempt from this

requirement. Exemptions also applyto wholesale investors, for examplethose whose investment assets are$1million ormore. If, for example, you have a share

portfolio of around £200,000 in theUK onwhich personalisedinvestment advice is provided by abroker, the broker will be in breachof the Financial Advisers Act if he orshe is not registered as an AFA inNZ. Youwill not have the protectionof the code of conduct, disclosurerequire-ments anddisputeresolutionschemesthat aremandatoryfor AFAs.Finally,

having assets in currenciesother than the New Zealand dollarwill expose you to exchange raterisk.Obtaining advice from aNew

Zealand accountant or financialadviser on the implications ofleaving investment assets overseasis highly recommended.

For a good night’s sleep, it is important to have sufficient physical activity during the day. Deep breathing helps relieve stress, tension and

worry, improving sleep and health.Try to spend some time in the fresh air

and sunlight daily. Walking with bare feet on the grass helps to earth us with nature and can be quite effective, especially in the evening before bed to promote a good night’s sleep.

Nutritional supplements can be highly effective in supporting a good sleep by providing nutrients needed for correct muscle and nerve function and supporting healthy levels of brain chemicals that are needed to put us into a deep sleep and for relaxation.

GO Magnesium Sleep has been carefully formulated to support a deep, relaxed sleep. It contains a special blend of high

Nutritional researchers have discovered a range of nutrients that are essential for eye health. Some of the most essential

nutrients that have been shown to protect and even improve eye function are: Selenium, a trace mineral that is low in NZ soils and therefore in many of our foods. Researchers believe selenium may help prevent cataracts, macular degeneration (the leading cause of impaired vision in older people) and may also improve dry eyes and general eye health.

Zinc is a mineral that a large percentage of the population are low in. Zinc has been shown to help protect the eyes from the damaging effects of light as well as slow vision loss due to macular degeneration.

Vitamin C, citrus bioflavonoids, beta-carotene (provitamin a) and copper have potent antioxidant ability and help protect the eyes from damage.

Research supports eye health

Lutein and zeaxanthin are amazing nutrients that have been shown in landmark research to not only provide potent eye protection, but may even help reverse some of the signs of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Bilberry and blackcurrant, high in potent antioxidants, may help protect the lens and retina from damage and reduce the risk of cataracts. They may also help improve blood supply to the eye, strengthen the small capillaries of the eye and may help improve night vision, may alleviate many eye ailments, including eye fatigue that may be caused by reading, driving and computers.

Eyebright may help normalise eye pressure and reduce eye allergies.

Taurine is an amino acid that is essential for correct eye function. It may also have a detoxifying effect on the eye.

Vitamin B2 may help alleviate eye fatigue, bloodshot eyes and maintain good vision.

Yumberry is the latest in eye protection. It provides many nutrients, is rich in oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs) that are potent antioxidants that may protect eyesight.

These nutrients, taken in a therapeutic amount, should provide comprehensive eye protection, may slow and possibly even help reverse eye damage that could lead to loss of vision. All these nutrients are available in an economical once a day, easy to swallow capsule.

Let’s face it – every manufacturer tells you their heat pump is the best, quietest, most energy-e cient and each has a multitude of constantly

updating/changing models on o er.Plus, New Zealand homes tend to be very individual in size, shape and location, which greatly a ects heating and performance requirements.

ere are three essential steps to ensure you get the right solution for your home:Get the right size - is requires accurate measurement of the volume of the air to be heated in your property and an understanding of heat loss and air ow characteristics.Get the right model - What was right for your neighbour might not be right for you; heat pumps are constantly changing and being improved.Get it installed correctly -  Probably the most misunderstood element.  If a heat pump is not installed correctly, it will not function at its rated output, may fail prematurely and void the warranty.

e answer is to talk to a company that knows about all the brands and can give impartial expert advice.  Heat Pump Guys are independent dealers. Unlike most companies that are tied in to one manufacturer, they are accredited for all major brands: Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Toshiba, Fujitsu, Daikin, Hitachi, LG and so on. ey have an obligation-free home appraisal service to advise customers which heat

Most people are aware that heat pumps are the most cost-effective and convenient

solution, but how do you make sure you get the right one for you?

If you are rebuilding or repairing your home, Enviro Master can o er you a complete solution to meet your individual heating, cooling and

ventilation needs. Many housing companies o er a package deal and therefore may size or position your heat pump incorrectly. It is best to talk to the experts to tailor a solution to best suit your individual requirements. is can be done from your architectural plans or from a free in-home consultation.

Enviro Master have been servicing the Christchurch area for over 12 years and supplies, installs and services all the leading brands, including Panasonic, Fujitsu, Mitsubishi and Daikin. is means our team can show you which system and brand will best suit your needs.

We currently have a stock clearance on 2.5kW cooling/3.6kW heating systems starting as low as $1900 installed. ese are ideal for a bedroom or o ce, and there

are very limited numbers of these systems available. We also have savings up to $800 o the recommended retail price on selected models.

Heat pumps are known to be one of the most energy-e cient forms of heating available. In addition to being able to provide up to 4.9kW of energy for every 1kW used, there are the added bene ts of cooling, dehumidifying and air ltration (great for people with allergies or asthma), bene ts no other heating appliance can o er.

Ducted and multi systems are becoming increasingly popular in providing climate-controlled comfort throughout your home or workplace. We are also able to incorporate ventilation into ducted systems.

For a free in-home consultation, call Enviro Master on 366 0525 or visit our showroom at 41A Shakespeare Road, Waltham, Christchurch.

Now, with the colder and wetter weather on its way, homeowners are focusing on ways to make their homes comfortable, warm and

healthy for their families throughout winter. Rising damp a ects many older properties

which su er from poor or no insulation. In Canterbury especially, post-quake, many have relocated to homes that su er from rising damp which can be associated with health problems. Independent tests have shown that up to 40 litres of water can rise from the ground and enter a house every day, leading to mildew, mould, condensation and musty smells. Moulds can produce allergic reactions.

SMOOTH-AIR PRODUCTSenvironment.  In case of poor or insu cient air intake from outside, the oxygen content decreases, humidity and dustiness levels increase. If exhaust ventilation is not provided or not e ective, polluted air, smells, humidity and harmful substances are not removed.

Low oxygen with high carbon dioxide causes stu ness. Harmful substances like dust and tobacco smoke can cause various diseases.  Even bad smells can cause discomfort or irritate the nervous system.  In summer, it’s easy to open windows for cross ventilation, but as winter approaches, we start to shut up out houses to trap in the heat and as a result, air quality can decline.

It is therefore important to ensure good air quality indoors through adequate ventilation.

Priced sharply - smart buying in Fendalton85 Totara St, Fendalton$975,000 6 bedrooms | 2 bathrooms | 3 toilets | 2 living rooms | 2-car garage |Listi ng #: BE192296

My vendors have priced this spacious family home at just above RV - could this be the best buy in Fendalton?

Packed full of original character features such as the original wood panelling and leadlight windows with the bonus of double glazing having been carefully done in sympathy with the charm of the home. Modern e cient heat pumps plus a log burner bring the home into our 21st century standard required for warmth and comfort.

With two spacious living rooms and a large kitchen dining room, ve good sized bedrooms and a study (which can be a sixth bedroom if needed), there is room to adapt this house to your lifestyle while retaining ample space to satisfy the family. e laundry o the back of the kitchen is particularly spacious - you can safely hide the laundry in here until needed. A third toilet is located o the laundry as well. e two bathrooms are equally of generous size and quality tout, one downstairs for the master bedroom and the other upstairs for the family.

e upstairs is ideal for a retreat area for the children or if you have extended family, this could be used as a private living space with its own bathroom, living room and three bedrooms. A balcony from the living room makes a charming spot to sit and enjoy the sun.

e private rear courtyard will be a sheltered spot to enjoy the last of the summer before winter really sets in. Pleasantly

landscaped with a water feature and sh pond - there is also room for the green- ngered who may wish to have a vegetable garden as well. Usefully, there is a shed to securely store your garden implements out of sight. A large double garage will take a 4WD and there is o -street parking as well. With some thought there would be also the ability to create room to park a boat if desired.

Zoned for the two of the most highly regarded state schools in Christchurch (Christchurch Girls’ and Christchurch Boys’ High), now would be the time to secure your children’s entry with applications starting for enrolment later this year.

Call now – this is a well-priced home in a rst class area.

Open Home dates: Saturday, May 2; Sunday, May 3, 2.15pm to 2.45pm; and Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2.15pm to 2.45pm. See you at the open homes or to arrange a private viewing call Debbie Pettigrew from Harcourts Grenadier Beckenham (Licensed Agent REAA 2008) on 337 1316 or 027 777 0411.
