Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning will pres-ent a slide lecture entitled “What the Heck is Nano-tech?” by Dr. Scott Allen Tenenbaum of the University of Albany –SUNY at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 in the Hunter Seminar Room at Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester.

Dr. Tenenbaum will help demystify the world of nano-technology, which has emerged as a powerful science for not only the semiconductor indus-try but also for areas including energy, cosmetics and the medi-cal field. As the new frontier that will shape life science, nanobioscience is being used to study and cure cancer, study the human genome, develop new drug delivery systems and understand how the brain

works.Dr. Scott Tenebaum is associ-

ate professor of nanobioscience at the College of Nanscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Albany. He holds 19 issued or pending patents which have served as the basis fro three biotechnology start-up companies. Among his many honors are the SUNY Excellence in Research Award and the Roche Laboratories Award for Excellence in Clinical Research.

On Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., Bennington College faculty member and actress Janis Young will lecture on “Timon of Athens: Shakespeare’s Timeless Morality Play.” The

class will look at how Shakespeare reached back to old medieval morality plays for inspiration of the winter’s tale of old.
