*CALL TO WORSHIP Elder Herb Scott
God, our God, how glorious is your name in all the earth!
Your glory is sung by all of your creation!
When we look to the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, we
wonder — Who are we that you care for us and for this world?
You are the God of life, crowning us with glory and honor to serve you all our
days. O God, our God, how glorious is your name in all the earth!

*OPENING HYMN “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” No. 276 Congregation
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Led by Elder Herb Scott
Almighty and merciful God, we open our hearts up to you, trusting that your
love and goodness is stronger than all of our shortcomings. We have been afraid
to trust you, and we have forgotten the assurance of your unending presence. We
have sacrificed our convictions, quieted our voices, given in to distractions, and
looked out for ourselves above all else. We have thought about giving up when
the task before us seems too great. Forgive us for all these things, and help us to
be guided by your Spirit and to be filled with the One who gives us life. Amen.
WORDS OF ASSURANCE Deacon Shani E. McIlwain
Good and upright is the LORD,
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way. —Adapted from Psalm 25:8-9
*THE RESPONSE Gloria Patri No. 579 Congregation
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.
PRAYER REQUEST –If you have a concern or request that you would like included in the Pastoral
Prayer, please jot it down on the index card found in the pew rack and hand it to a deacon as they walk the aisle
during the singing of the Welcome Song.
WE PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD
PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION

receive your truth in faith and love, and strength to follow on the path you set
before us; through Jesus Christ, Amen.

WE RESPOND TO GOD’S WORD
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in
Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord. who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and
was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he
ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will
come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy
catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection
of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will
be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us
our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us
from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
THE OFFERING
OFFERTORY MUSIC Elder Henry Jones
