Introduction This service guide is intended for distributors and dealers, as well as provides the basic information that is needed for the removal and installation of Camso Aftermarket Bolt-On Midrollers. When midrollers are missing more than one third (1/3rd) of their coating, we suggest replacement to optimize the life of the track. Also, see the appropriate operator’s manuals for rolling stock maintenance. NOTE: Wheel bolt torque is critical. Too tight is as bad as too loose. Lubricate bolts with SAE 30W engine oil and use a torque wrench for assembly.

Notice When servicing track machines, follow all manufacturers recommended safety precautions.

Failure to follow safe procedures can result in injury or death.

Updates to Consider Before Installing Aftermarket Midrollers: Note: On agricultural versions before tractor serial number ZFF034748, the seal and seal cup must be replaced with the correct version.

Use a bearing puller to remove the seal cup from the midroller axle shaft. Once removed, slide the new updated seal cup (84223194) on the shaft. Then use CNH Service Tool 380003412 (1) along with midroller retaining bolt 84303553 (2), and washer 87387720 (3) to press the seal cup into place. *Note: If axle is removed from the undercarriage a press may be utilized to install the seal cup.

Midroller Removal - Quadtrac

Machine Preparation

1. If possible, always move the machine to a flat, firm surface. The machine can be raised much easier and will be more stable if the work is completed in a stable surface.

2. Make sure that any implements are disconnected from the hitch or drawbar on tractors. Never work on a machine with an implement attached, as this is an unstable condition. 3. Clean the machine before working on it. Dirt and debris makes access to bolts difficult. 4. Once the machine is positioned – turn engine off and remove the key, install articulation lock (if equipped). Do not start the machine while track undercarriage is disassembled, or injury and machine damage could result.

Important Quadtrac - After de-tensioning tracks make sure the tensioner stop bolt is installed. This will prevent the idler pivot assembly from moving forward after the track is removed. See “Track Terminology” pictures on page (3) of this document for stop bolt location.

De-tension the track

1. Obtain the Tension Cylinder Drain Valve, CNH part number 31-3183. This drain valve/hose will safely remove pressure in the track tensioning system.

Drain Port Location

2. Locate the drain port on the undercarriage. Remove the dust cap. Make sure the drain valve is CLOSED. Then attach the drain valve hose to the coupler on the undercarriage.

** NOTE – Track tension cylinder pressure can be 3000 psi or higher. Use caution. Valve must be opened slowly.

Drain Port Location

3. Insert the opposite end into a suitable drain bucket. 4. Using a 15/16” open end wrench, slowly turn the valve CLOCKWISE to open the valve

and relieve the pressure in the tensioner. Once adequate tension has been removed from the undercarriage to gain access to remove/install the midrollers the drain valve can be closed and removed from the port.

Raise Machine and Remove Midrollers 5. Raise the machine until the midrollers are approximately 2 - 4 inchs above the track. **NOTE – lifting devices with focalized contact areas such as bottle jacks, can damage or fail the axle housings. We highly recommend you do not jack on the axle housing. Also do not attempt to lift or support the machine by jacking or lifting on the front cast weights or the front cast weight mounting area (if equipped). The front cast weight mounting area is not strong enough to support the weight of the machine. Please refer to the operator’s manual or contact the Case IH dealer for recommended lifting instructions called out in the Service Manual.

Drain Fluids, Remove Clear Caps and Retainer Bolts 6. Once the machine is lifted, rotate the midrollers so that oil can be drained into a container

for easy disposal.

7. After the oil has been drained from the midroller, utilize snap ring pliers to pull the snap rings

from the midroller hub and remove the clear caps and o-rings.

Bearings/Races and Seals Can Be Disposed
