presentation of their submission demonstrated a strong team with vitality and enthusiasm which

They are clearly equipped to take on high value and complex work often against much larger firms

and clearly demonstrated client service excellence.

Martyn was chosen as the winner of this award as he demonstrated initiative and

outstanding skills as a lawyer illustrating his determination, drive and ability to lead the development and

With a keen grasp of business, Martyn’s career development has been outstanding and

he has made a substantial impact on his firm demonstrating his ability to be a key person

in the future management and growth of the firm.

WinnerJamie Martin Ward Hadaway

Jamie has been a leading figure in the North East legal community for many years. He

has been the Managing Partner of Ward Hadaway since 1998 and has seen the firm’s

income increase four-fold to £33m and double in size.

Jamie’s drive and determination combined with a clear strategic vision has seen the

firm expand from its North East base into the major legal centres of Leeds, in 2008, and

Manchester in 2012. Throughout his time leading Ward Hadaway, Jamie has continued

to make a major contribution to the wider community.

A very experienced clinical negligence lawyer Jamie was president of the North of

England Medico Legal Society for 19 years. He has been regional CBH Chairman and is a

Fellow of the Institute of Directors and the present Chairman of Newcastle College.

In 2008, Jamie was awarded the OBE for services to business in the North East and he

was commissioned Deputy Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear in 2011.
