dEar mEmbErs,
Have you ever stopped to think why IT matters to have a YMCA in ourcommunity? As a YMCA member you may use the fitness equipment, takeadvantage of the free babysitting, or enroll your child in a swim lesson orsport. By simply participating, does it really matter to our community? In 2012, your YMCA spent many hours trying to matter to you, yourfriends, and neighbors. Did you know each summer your YMCA goes “onthe road” to teach children, who would not learn otherwise, how to swim?Drowning is the second leading cause of death among our children andyour YMCA is giving children this life-saving skill. Are you sure your child
could save themselves in the water? Bring your child to our monthly swimassessments to be sure.
Did you know your YMCA believes all people, especially children deserve anequal chance to reach their full potential. With The Little School, yourYMCA is ensuring all children in our community are prepared to startschool. We are in areas of town where there are not pre-schools or earlylearning opportunities ensuring all children have an equal start. ThroughYouth Fit for Life, we are making huge strides in combating childhoodobesity during after-school programs and with Coach Approach we are
doing the same with adults.
We want to matter. I challenge you to think about how your YMCA couldmatter more for you and our community. Your contributions to the YMCAin time and money are busy with things that matter. Please ask how youcan become more involved.
