Call to Worship Peggie Schiller

Prayer of Confession

All: God of the covenant, who calls all people to reconciliation,

you have made us members of the very Body of Christ;

yet we persist in wounding that body with our divisions,

our suspicions, and our neglect.

Forgive us, and teach us to nurture unity and peace.

For the sake of Jesus Christ and the world he came to save. Amen.

— Silent Prayer —

Assurance of Pardon

* The Peace As we are reconciled to God and to one another,

share a sign of Christ’s peace and love with your neighbor.

—The children will remain in worship as we celebrate communion together.—

* Response of Praise—Make Us One see page 6

Scripture Reading—Acts 15:1-9 NT p. 134

Anthem—Write your Blessed Name K. Lee Scott

Chancel Choir

Write your blessed name, O Lord, upon my heart, there to remain so indelibly engraved

that no prosperity, that no adversity shall ever, ever move me from your love. Be to me a

strong tower of defense, a comforter in tribulation, a deliv’rer in distress, and a faithful

Guide to the courts of heav’n through the many temptations and dangers of this life.

O Jesu, my only Savior! Write your blessed name, O Lord, upon my heart, there to

remain so indelibly engraved that no prosperity, that no adversity shall ever, ever move

me from your love.

Message—Embracing the Boogieman Rev. Marjorie Wilhelmi Galations 3:23-28 NT p. 189

We Bring Our Gifts for the Ministry of Christ

Offering—In Bright Mansions Above K. Lee Scott

Chancel Choir

In bright mansions above, in bright mansions above, Lord, I want to live up yonder in

bright mansions above. My father’s gone to Glory; I want to go there, too. Lord, I want

to live up yonder in bright mansions above. In bright mansions above, in bright mansions

above, Lord, I want to live up yonder in bright mansions above. My mother’s gone to

Glory; I want to go there, too. Lord, I want to live up yonder in bright mansions above. In

bright mansions above, in bright mansions above, Lord, I want to live up yonder in bright

mansions above.

Communion—Draw Us In the Spirit’s Tether Harold W. Friedell

Chancel Choir

Draw us in the Spirit’s tether; For when humbly, in thy name, two or three are met

together, Thou art in the midst of them; Alleluya! Alleluya! Touch we now thy garment’s

hem. As the brethren used to gather In the name of Chris to sup, then with thanks to

God the Father break the bread and bless the cup, Alleluya! Alleluya! So knit thou our

friendship up. All our meals and all our living make as sacraments of thee, that by

caring, helping, giving, we may true disciples be. Alleluya! Alleluya! We will serve thee

faithfully.

JOIN US FOR THE BROWN BAG LUNCHEON AND BOOK DISCUSSION The Brown Bag Luncheon and Book Discussion will take place on Monday, November 4 at 11:30 a.m. in the Library. The discussion will be led by our very own Nancy Gifford. Nancy is requesting that we read the book, A Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife by Dr. Eben Alexander, MD. Our discussion will give us much to think on and will help us become more informed. We will gather in the Library to listen, eat and discuss. Desserts and drinks will be provided.

LEON & LULU FUNDRAISER Looking for a unique shopping experience? Come kick start your Christmas shopping at Leon & Lulu, 96 W. Fourteen Mile Road in Clawson on November 10th from 1:00 -4:00 p.m. Ten percent of the day's sales will help support the youth mission trip in 2014. The store offers an eclectic mix of toys, clothes, household gifts, and furniture. We will also have food, a raffle and entertainment by some of our kids.

PWN Book Club The PWN Book Club’s next meeting will be held on November 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Library. The discussion will be led by Seglinda Pritchard. We will be reading The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. This book is an intelligent and absorbing 9/11 novel written from the perspective of Changez, a young Pakistani whose sympathies, despite his fervid immigrant embrace of America, lie with the attackers. The book unfolds as a monologue that Changez delivers to a mysterious American operative over dinner at a Lahore, Pakistan cafe. Please join us!

KNIT WITS This month, we will meet only on November 13. Please join us.

SOUPER SENIOR SUPPER Join us for some delicious soup, salad and fellowship in the Library on November 14 at 5:30 p.m. Souper Senior Souper will take a break on November 28 in honor of Thanksgiving and return again in December.

Please join us after worship today

Northbrook Church.
