Zero to sixty in two seconds?! How fast can an object go without compromising safety? Students in this camp will work with their Pit Crew to design and build vehicles, such as dragsters and hovering levitrons, which should be able to withstand astonishing speeds. Fasten your seat belt, the race has begun! During the Momentum Madness camp, students will explore four fields of engineering: industrial, electrical, mechanical and aerospace. They will design and construct vehicles and safety mechanisms that will achieve the fastest speeds while still maintaining safe racing conditions. ERS $199 | R $210 | NR $225

Is mankind ready to inhabit the moon? With a little help from Engineering for Kids® students, humans will be prepared to take up residence by the end of the week! Students will collaborate with their Space State teams to create the safest and most effective community on the moon. Which team will earn enough Astro-Points to be declared the winner? During Out of this World camp, students will explore three fields of engineering: aerospace, civil and chemical. In this hands-on, fun, and exciting program, you will discover how amazing science is. You will make and take home a wide assortment of toys designed to teach you science concepts in a hands-on way. Grow and take home a crystal tree. Make an energy bead bracelet and watch as those amazing beads turn from white to a rainbow of colors before your eyes. Build a working electric motor. Make your own sharpie pen T-shirt and learn some cool chemistry (student supplies a 100% cotton t-shirt). Make your own bubbling blobs and explore the properties of a density tube. Make silly putty—glowing goo—green flubber and other cool projects. By the way...we will make ice cream in our own amazing, different, Sciensational way! ERS $177 | R $195 | NR $212 | *ERS $319 | R $351 | NR $382

Do you want to design and build things that you create-—not just a model you purchase? Build and keep an air powered Hover Craft. You make it defy gravity. Once it’s up and moving, use your creativity to control its direction. Get to build and take home your own car. The purpose is to build a super car powered by more than one source of energy. We provide you with many materials for that dynamic vehicle that you will build. Also get to build an Egg Drop Car. The purpose is to build a gravity vehicle that can cushion a raw egg as the car holding the egg is dropped from a high height. We provide you with the material to cushion the fall. You have to be creative. In these three challenges in one workshop, you will learn about Laws of Motion, Energy, Air Pressure, Friction, Lift, Speed and Acceleration. You are never too young to learn and have fun in a Sciensational hands on way. ERS $177 | R $195 | NR $212 | *ERS $319 | R $351 | NR $382

NORTHAMPTON INVITES YOU TO ENJOY THE PARKS, TAKE A WALK & READ!The Story Walk is an innovative approach which encourages reading and walking. During the summer months, pages from selected children’s books will be posted on podiums for easy reading. Located at the Northampton Municipal Park, 281 Hatboro Rd., Churchville, the Story Walk starts near the playground pavilion. Follow the succession of page numbers on a leisurely walk with your child, as you read a story along the way while taking in exercise and fresh air. The Story Walk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpellier, Vt. and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and Kellogg Hubbard Library.

A ONE HOUR workshop to inform and encourage parents to TALK with their children about alcohol and drug abuse.

Did you know that research shows that PARENTS are the #1 reason young people decide not to drink alcohol and use drugs? Encouraging discussions (PLURAL!) help to develop the “modern” brain and encourages good decisions. This workshop will help parents understand the functions of the “primitive” and “modern” parts of the brain and how addiction hijacks the primal brain. Information presented will reiterate the importance of discussions about alcohol and drug abuse between parents and children. Register online at www.northamptonrec.com.

This program is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth (CRCHY).

There is no fee to attend but registration is encouraged. Register online at www.northamptonrec.com.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TICKS!

DID YOU KNOW?• Pennsylvania is #1 in confirmed Lyme disease cases• Ticks and risk of Lyme exists in every PA county• When caught early, Lyme can be treated more easily• Lyme and other tick borne diseases can be serious but

also preventable by avoiding high risk tick habitat areas; wearing the proper clothing and repellent; and carefully examining yourself and properly removing ticks, if found.

• A study found people wearing permethrin-treated sneakers and socks were 73.6 times less likely to have a tick bite.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Memorial Bench ProgramNorthampton Township Parks & Recreation recognizes the value of commemorating life experience.

In response to residents’ requests, the Township is proud to announce a memorial bench program in addition to our memorial brick program at the Municipal Park. You may buy a memorial gift of a bench to honor the memory of a lost relative, or pet or to celebrate a joyous occasion, accomplishment, family milestone or new addition. Often they are placed in a park where relatives & friends can visit.

If you enjoy a particular park and wish to place a lasting memorial, consider donating a bench to the community.
