WelcomeI have lived in North Devon since the age of 4. Back then, the variable

landscape offered opportunities to explore every space. After climbing

trees, swimming in the sea and making dens in the woods, I am now

able to appreciate the bliss of North Devon in a different way, such as

indulging in a delicious cream tea and walking along the coast.

North Devon holds a special place for anyone, young and old, because

of its versatility. Whether you’re seeking golden sandy beaches or

quaint country walks, exciting activities or a spot of retail therapy,

explore everything the area has to offer and immerse yourself in the

relaxing Devon lifestyle.

Have a wonderful summer!

Travel back in time when dinosaurs walked our earth. Lurking amongst the tropical trees in the depth of the valley are some of the latest in dinosaur animatronics new to the park this year.

Come face to face with ferocious Spinosaurus, a family of Triceratops and our very own British dinosaur, the vicious Neovenator.

Watch out for the young T-Rex lurking round the corner, his mother is close behind. Watch the UK’s most realistic full sized animatronic T-Rex come to life, but don’t stand too close to Dilophosaurus, you may get wet! Visit the park’s Dinosaur Museum where you can see fantastic and rare exhibits including a complete Allosaurus skeleton and one of the largest nest of fossilised eggs ever discovered.

Wandering through this stunning park set within a beautiful valley you will be amazed to uncover natural cascading streams and waterfalls, various strains of Bamboo, tropical trees and plants as well as an abundance of indigenous wildlife. The park is home to a variety of exotic animals including African Lions, Primates, Otters, Sea lions, Penguins, Meerkats and rare White Hudson Bay Wolves. The park is one of only two collections in the UK where you can see these beautiful animals. There are daily Sea Lion Shows, talks and animal encounters throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy.

Take a ride on the Dino Express and scream as seven and a half thousand gallons of water hurtle towards you and your fellow passengers! Or be brave enough to enter the park’s underground tomb for a fascinating insight into Egypt. Decipher the ancient art of picture writing with the exact replication of Egyptian hieroglyphics - but watch out for the mummy! If you love creepy crawlies you will enjoy the Bug World exhibit, the kingdom of Insects and other invertebrates!

It is difficult to pin down why Lundy has such an effect on people. It is true that Lundy is different from any other island and that it is in a wonderful part of the country, situated off the coast of North Devon. A natural beauty, remote and tranquil, without roads, cars or pollution.

Why does it take so long to walk a mile on the island? Not because the going is hard, but because there are so many reasons to stop.

Visitors can enter a cave once used to hold prisoners, climb to the highest lighthouse in Britain, inspect the Georgian cannons which fired every ten minutes in fog, see the Lundy cabbage which grows nowhere else in the world.

There is also the unique flora and fauna, sika deer, soay sheep, Lundy ponies, goats, seals, basking sharks and an array of birdlife or just take in the magnificent views.

Lundy also offers visitors an extraordinary range of buildings in which to stay, twenty three individual properties are available from a castle, a lighthouse to the Admiralty Lookout and fisherman’s chalet.

The Marisco Tavern is the hub of island life, having a wonderful atmosphere and a fine cuisine to suit all tastes including Lundy Lamb and other island produce and a fine selection of beers and wines.

The island shop caters for all the visitors’ needs; it is well stocked with all the normal groceries, fresh fruit, bread, vegetables, frozen foods and much more.

The voyage to Lundy is on the island’s own passenger and supply vessel MS Oldenburg, carrying both day and staying visitors from Bideford or Ilfracombe.

MS Oldenburg is a handsome and graceful vessel, fast and comfortable. The ship sails three times a week during the summer season.

Season by season, from dawn to dusk the visitor on Lundy is offered endless interest and delight.

“We live in a society where everything is fast and convenient and we expect things to be done right away – therefore the innovation and development of inflatable tents and awnings has come at the right time.

The appeal of a tent that can be pitched in less than half the time of a poled tent is a must for some people. These tents are saving relationships! (At least there are a lot less arguments). In fact, these tents can be pitched easily by one person. And because there are no poles, you can’t accidentally leave them at home!

This inflatable technology is also present in the awning market making it a must for all those people with caravans and motorhomes. Besides the obvious advantages of saving time and effort there are also some practical benefits when it comes to bad weather conditions.

When it’s windy, there are no poles or frames to get damaged - just beams of air that can flex, without compromising the strength of the structure. What about punctures? If you are unlucky enough to have something pierce the tough covering around the beam, then the inner can be stripped out and repaired with a kit or the beam can be replaced – simple.

With most of the major outdoor brands offering a range of inflatable tents and awnings there is certainly a great offering to choose from.”

Devon Outdoor advises on caravan awnings for the perfect summer holiday.

Onwards and upwards - But now we’ve taken it up a notch. Never a company to rest on our laurels, we’ve spent the past year ramping up our offering.

More cottages - We’ve increased the number of properties by 250%, so now we can offer holidaymakers a greater choice of property in terms of style, location and price – and all are still top quality.

Hot tubs - Holidaymakers told us they love properties with hot tubs - and now we can offer a choice of 16% of properties offering this ultimate relaxation.

Social media - We’re regularly posting last minute offers, local guides, property details and images, videos and competitions on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, to great success.

Competitions - We’ve just announced the winner of a North Devon holiday in our second competition this year – and these competitions are bringing even more holiday makers to us.

TV - Our director Jane Taylor was recently interviewed on the local news about North Devon’s booming luxury tourism trade – a subject we’re passionate about!

At Ocean Cottages we’ve always been used to getting the essentials right:providing top-quality luxury holiday cottages in stunning locations – all with a friendly smile and expert local knowledge. We specialise in prestige coastal holiday properties in Croyde, Woolacombe, Saunton, Braunton and Georgeham – an area that offers everything from glorious sandy beaches and big wave surfing to superb pubs and stylish dining.

LEADINGholiday cottages

Do you own a holiday cottage? At Ocean Cottages we offer top-quality at all times: from the service we provide as letting agents, to the properties in our portfolio, to our innovative approach, to the holiday makers who book through us – and that’s one reason why our booking rates are so high. Our visitors come back again and again. They love our holiday homes and our homeowners love our high booking rates.

And we know that not all holiday homeowners are the same. Some want to be involved and look after the cleaning and grass cutting and act as keyholder – and some don’t. Some want us to handle everything – maintenance, bookings, keys – and that’s great too. Whatever you want is fine with us. Call us and find out how we can boost your bookings, and make your property work better for you.
