Federal Rolein Transportation
Since the earliest days of our republic infrastructure development has been recognized and supported by leaders.
The First Congress passed the Lighthouses Act of 1789 to regulate and encourage commerce and trade. The states had previously controlled and funded lighthouses. The Lighthouse Act of 1789 extended federal control and funding and recognized the need for the safe and easy movement of goods and people.
