Location & suitability Well known building which is located in Altarnun village. Has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors being in the centre of the village (sharing a site with the village shop) but a significant number will have to use some form of transport to vote because of the rural nature of the polling district. The facilities for staff are adequate.

Parking Some street parking available.

Disabled access Level access into building.

Facilities for staff Toilet and kitchen facilities available.

Recommendation Should remain as the polling station for the area.

The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors but a few will have to use some form of transport to vote because of the very rural nature of the polling district with its scattered settlements. The facilities for staff are adequate. The building is somewhat run-down but adequate for polling purposes.

Location & suitability Well known building located on the west side of Bodmin. It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in this part of the town and has good public transport links during the daytime. The facilities for staff are good. The building is large enough for the electorate that votes here.

Chy Trevail Current polling station is acceptable for the time being but an additional station located in the main Council Offices serving the new housing developments to the west of the town could be considered as offering more convenient voting facilities for the future.

Electoral Division: Bodmin St Leonard Polling District: Bodmin-St Leonard NBN3, NBN4


The Conference Suite, Shire House, Mount Folly, Bodmin


Location & suitability Well known local civic building owned and run by the Town Council. It has been used as a polling building regularly since 2011 when the Public Rooms became unavailable for use.. Although not strictly within the limits of the polling district it is centrally located and close to major bus routes. The room is accessible, comfortable and spacious with good facilities for staff and voters alike. The room is large enough to accommodate four polling stations with appropriate segregation in place.

Parking There is a large pay and display car park (Priory Park) operated by the Town Council situated behind the Shire House complex.

Disabled access Reasonably good. There is a ramp up from the access road although there is no safe, convenient drop-off point close to the entrance for voters arriving by car.

Facilities for staff Excellent

Recommendation Should remain the polling station for the area.


This is also the proposed polling building for electors in NBN5 and NBN6 (Bodmin St Petroc)


The Public Rooms, Mount Folly This building is currently undergoing refurbishment prior to conversion into a cinema.

Electoral Division: Bodmin St Petroc Polling District: Bodmin-St Petroc NBN5, NBN6 POLLING STATION LOCATION:

Parkhouse Centre, Ergue-Gaberic Way, Bude


Location & suitability Well known multi-purpose community building located close to the centre of Bude. It has been used as a polling place for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in this part of the town. It has good public transport links during the daytime. A number of electors – particularly those from Flexbury - will have to use some form of transport to vote because of the large size of both polling districts. The facilities for staff are very good. The Ivor Potter Hall, in particular, is comfortably large enough to accommodate up to four stations with appropriate segregation in place.

Parking Small parking area at front of building and large public car parks (pay and display) within 50 yards.

Disabled access Excellent, level access, ramp to entrance, wide doorways, toilets.




The closure of Flexbury Methodist Church Hall in early 2011 has, in the absence of a more suitable alternative location, meant using the Parkhouse Centre as a polling station for the voters of Flexbury (NBF1). While recognising that this arrangement is not entirely satisfactory, as it entails a longer journey and is less convenient for voters, it is, for the time being, the only viable option unless the Council wishes to site a temporary building in Flexbury (Crooklets Beach car park being one option). Until such time as suitable alternative premises become available, the Parkhouse Centre with its excellent facilities should be the polling station for NBF1 as well as NBB.


Tourist Information Centre (Education Room)

Premises not really large enough and facilities not as good for voters. Current polling station is acceptable.

Electoral Division: Bude Polling District: Bude Stratton-Flexbury and Poughill NBF2


Poughill Village Hall, Poughill, Bude


Location & suitability Well known building located on the main road in the village. It has been used as a polling station for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in the village. It has reasonable public transport links during the daytime. A small number of electors will have to use some form of transport to vote because of the geographical spread of the polling district. The facilities for staff are good.

Parking Small parking area at front of building and free public car park about 300 metres distant.

Disabled access Steps to entrance but separate access to rear of building.

Facilities for staff Adequate toilet and kitchen facilities available.





Electoral Division: Camelford Polling District: Camelford NCD


Camelford Hall, Clease Road, Camelford


Location & suitability Well known public building located on the eastern side of town. It has been used as a polling place for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in Camelford. It has good public transport links during the daytime. A small number of electors will have to use some form of transport to vote. Aside from the main hall, there are other rooms available that can be used for polling purposes at by-elections. The facilities for staff are good.

Parking Free public car park immediately in front of the buildings.

Polling building is also used to accommodate polling stations for voters in NAT (Advent) and NFR1 (Tintagel)


Souls Harbour Church Adjacent to Camelford (Clease) Hall. Has previously been used as an alternative polling place for a by-election scheduled for a day when the Hall was unavailable. Lighting from the car park to the entrance is poor.

Location & suitability Well known building which is located in the village. It has been used as a polling station for the area for many years, serving a small electorate. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in this rural area. Public transport links are poor. Most electors will have to use some form of transport to vote. The facilities for staff are adequate.

The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in this polling district but those electors living on the fringes of the urban area will have to use some form of transport to vote. Public transport links are adequate in daytime. The facilities for staff are adequate.

Location & suitability Situated on a level approach, just a few hundred metres from the Old Parish Hall, which it replaces, this newly constructed community building is ideally situated to serve voters in Lanivet village, being convenient for most and within walking distance for many. Public transport available nearby. The facilities for staff are very good.

Location & suitability Well known building serving voters in Nanstallon. It has been used as a polling station for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in the area but owing to the rural nature of this part of the parish, a few electors will probably have to use some form of transport to vote. Limited public transport available. The facilities for staff are adequate.

Tregainlands Park, Washaway


Location & suitability Situated on the edge of the polling district on private land (a caravan park). The polling station is a temporary one (usually a caravan supplied by the Park owners). It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. This polling arrangement is convenient for the majority of electors in this relatively sparsely populated area, in the absence of a more suitable alternative. A number of voters may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are poor.

The polling building is convenient for the majority of electors in this part of the town and has good public transport links during the daytime. Voters living on the edge of town may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are very good. The main hall is sufficiently large to accommodate two or more polling stations with appropriate segregation.

Owing to the hilly topography of the polling district, a number of voters may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are good. The building is large enough to accommodate the number of voters in the polling district.

Location & suitability Well known building which is located in the parish of Werrington, on the B3254. It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling building is convenient for the majority of electors in this area. A number of voters may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are good.

Parking Lay-by off main road to front suitable for up to five or six vehicles.

The Town Hall, Western Road, Launceston


Location & suitability Well known civic building which is centrally located in Launceston, close to the main shopping area, although just outside this polling district. It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling building is convenient for the majority of electors in this part of the town and has good public transport links during the daytime. Voters living on the edge of town may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are very good. The main hall is sufficiently large to accommodate up to three polling stations with suitable demarcation arrangements in place.

Location & suitability Well known building which is located in St Merryn. It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling building is convenient for the majority of electors. As the polling district also encompasses an essentially rural area, a number of voters may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. The facilities for staff are good.

Electoral Division: Padstow Polling District: Padstow-Trevone NPW1


Trevone Village Hall, Trevone Road


Location & suitability Well known building serving voters in the village of Trevone and surrounding area. It has been used as a polling station for the area for many years. The polling station is convenient for the majority of electors in this relatively compact polling district but the essentially rural nature of this part of the Padstow parish coupled with the fact Trevone is a long straggling village situated along narrow roads means most electors will have to use some form of transport to vote. Although there is a bus stop opposite, public transport links are not particularly good. The facilities for staff and voters are reasonably good.

Electoral Division: Padstow Polling District: Padstow-Padstow NPW2


The Music Room, Padstow School, Trevone Road, Trevone


Location & suitability Well known school building which is located close to the outskirts of Padstow. It has been used as the polling station for the area for many years. The polling building is light and modern and convenient for the majority of electors. A number of voters may need to use some form of transport to visit the polling station. Although part of the school complex, access to the Music Room is separate from the entrance to the main school building. The facilities for staff are good.

Parking Yes.

Disabled access Excellent.




A security guard is employed to prevent public access to the main school building during school hours so lessons are undisturbed

St Petroc Church Rooms, Church Street, Padstow


Location & suitability Recently demolished and rebuilt, this is a well-known building located in a side street just off the centre of Padstow. The building is set apart from the main residential areas in Widemouth Bay and pedestrians need to negotiate a narrow pavement running alongside Marine Drive in order to reach the station. Disabled access Adequate. Steps to main entrance but separate entrance running along the side of building with door into main hall for wheelchair users.





Wadebridge Library The library has better access for disabled but it is otherwise too small to accommodate two polling stations (sometimes three if polling day is the same time as Royal Cornwall Show) and would have to stay closed on polling day.
