Copying a set

The following describes the procedure for creating a new set (telephone) by copying all the

attributes from another, known good one. This is useful for ensuring that class of service (CLS),

voice mail access, and network restrictions (NCOS) are correctly programmed in the new set.

Remember:

DN (Directory Number) is the telephone number

TN (Terminal Number) is the physical station port

Note, the Terminal Number (TN) defines the hardware location of the telephone:

TN: <loop> <shelf> <card> <unit>

Small System TN's are: <card> <unit>

Making Multiple Copies

Above we used CPY 1 to make one copy. We can also create more copies, e.g., 3 with CPY 3,

which is useful when adding a number of new sets. When doing multiple copies, a new prompt

appears:

SFMT aaaa - Select format, where aaaa can be: AUTO, TNDN, TN, or DN.

Moving a Set

DO NOT move ACD's, as data corruption can occur. Always PRT, OUT, then re-build on the

new TN.

There is no 'swap' command for stations. To swap two sets - e.g., for an office move, one must

be 'moved' to a temporary TN.

Prompts and responses: LD 20

REQ MOV - Request = MOV or MOV PAIR

TYPE xxxx - Type must match hardware.

TN l s c u - From Terminal Number.

TOTN l s c u - To new TN Number.

Note, the Terminal Number (TN) defines the hardware location of the telephone:

TN: <loop> <shelf> <card> <unit>

Small System TN's are: <card> <unit>

Example station move:

Abdelsalam and Islam Abbas are swapping offices!

Islam Abbas is at ext. 10500 - TN 004 1 05 04 - telephone TYPE: 3902

Abdelsalam is at ext. 10524 - TN 64 0 0 9 - telephone TYPE: 2004P2

We also need a spare (temporary) Digital TN that is not programmed, in this example: 004 1 05

05

Then, in LD 20 follow:

REQ: mov

TYPE: 3902

TN: 004 1 05 04

TOTN: 004 1 05 05- Islam Abbas is moved to the temporary TN.

Page 5: Nortel manual

Created By : Abdelsalam Elsobky Page 5

then Enter through... Islam Abbas is in limbo right now (on the spare TN)... continue to move

Abdelsalam.

Next, follow:

REQ: mov

TYPE: 2004P2

TN: 64 0 0 9

TOTN: 004 1 05 04 - Abdelsalam is moved to Islam Abbas' original TN.

then Enter Through... now Abdelsalam is moved to where Islam Abbas was...

Then do:

REQ: mov

TYPE: 3902

TN: 004 1 05 05

TOTN: 64 0 0 9 - Islam Abbas is moved Abdelsalam' original TN (from the

temporary TN).

then Enter through... Islam Abbas is now where Abdelsalam was!

You have Successfully Swapped Abdelsalam and Islam Abbas's places without having to

change any wiring!

Now just swap their Physical telephone sets.

Group Hunting

One of two hunting types may be specified to determine the order in which the extensions in the

group will be searched to find a free extension.

These are :-

Linear Hunting (LIN)

Hunting starts from the first DN in the list to the last, until an idle extension is found.

Round Robin (RRB)

Hunting starts at the first free extension after the last extension used, therefore

distributing calls evenly amongst the members of the group.

Any member can opt out of the group to prevent being accessed via the pilot DN.

Users enter a Flexible Feature Code for Group Hunt Termination Deactivation - GHTD (e.g.

#59).

Digital set users may have a dedicated key to opt out.

Feature Implementation

This feature is implemented in two stages:

The first stage uses LD 18 to define the extensions in the group.

Each extension is placed in "STOR" of what is termed the "Group Hunt List".

The list is identified by a unique list number. There is a separate list for each hunt group

in the system.

The second stage uses LD 57 to define the Pilot DN and associate it with the "Group

Hunt List".

Examples:

Two examples are given below.

Example 1 details the steps taken to change the extensions in an existing group.

Example 2 details how to create a new group.

Page 7: Nortel manual

Created By : Abdelsalam Elsobky Page 7

Example 1 - Changing the Extensions In a Departmental

Hunt Group

In this example an extension (DN 2555) is added to the group identified by Pilot DN 2111.

The procedure consists of three parts:-

1. Using LD 57 to obtain the list number for Pilot DN (2111)

2. Using LD 20 to print the extensions in the list.

3. Using LD 18 to change the list

1. First find the list number.

Call Forward by Call Type (Hunting Option)

This enhancement to the Hunting feature provides the capability for the system to send an

internal call to a Directory Number (DN) different from the DN used for an external call when the

telephone is busy.

A common way to use this capability is when the dialed telephone is already busy with a call,

internal calls can be redirected to Voice Mail messaging while external calls can be redirected to

a person.

To enable the Call Forward by Call Type (Hunting Option) capability, you must allow the Hunting

(HTA) feature in addition to the Call Forward by Call Type (CFTA) feature in the Class of

Service (CLS) of the telephone.

Additional CLS CFTA prompts:

HUNT xxxx - internal, busy DN

FDN xxxx - internal, no answer DN

EHT xxxx - external, busy DN

EFD xxxx - external, no answer DN

Note: Second Level call forward (forwarding a forward) requires LD 10/11 class of service

options: FNA, SFA (Second Level CFNA Allowed) and CNIA (Call Number Information Allowed).

SFA won't work without CNIA, and both are default disabled.

PROBLEM: Hunting and Forwarding do not work!

Page 11: Nortel manual

Created By : Abdelsalam Elsobky Page 11

If hunting/forwarding does not work for a particular set, check KEY 00 to see if MARP is

enabled.

Using hyper-terminal, print the TNB of the set in question: in the keys section, check MARP is

shown next to key 00.

To do this in MAT or Optivity, double click the KEY 00 button, and check that MARP is "yes".

MARP indicates that this set 'owns' the DN. If it doesn't 'own' the DN, it cannot control the

hunting/forwarding conditions. In other words, if not MARP'd, hunting/forwarding will not work as

expected!

To change MARP in HyperTerminal:

TN 4 1 12 1

ECHG yes

ITEM key oo scr 4378

HNT FNA

MARP on TN 004 0 11 01

MARP yes

MARP on TN showns you the TN of the set that currently 'owns' this number (and thus controls

the call forwarding features). This will always default to the lowest physical TN unless you

manually change it.

MARP prompt, if you input YES (the default is NO), a message prints out to indicate that a

MARP has changed:

SCH5524 DN X..X NEW MARP L S C U

X..X represents the new DN

L S C U represents the Loop number, Shelf number, Card number, Unit number of this

telephone.

Authorization codes

Page 12: Nortel manual

Created By : Abdelsalam Elsobky Page 12

Authorization codes (Authcode) allow a user to temporarily 'override' the access restrictions

(NCOS, COS, and TGAR) assigned to a station (or trunk).

To program an Authcode:

In LD 88 - first make an AUB (Authcode data block), then an AUT (Authcode entries data block).

Edit the CLAS to desired TGAR and/or NCOS. Note, the SPWD (secure password) default is

0000. It is not recommended to change this.

In LD 10/11 - assign Authcode to the set with AUTR (Authcode required) and MAUT. Test the

Authcode changes to the COS are as desired!! Prefix the code with SPRE 6, ie, key

16+authcode

First, create AUB and AUT blocks:

LD 88 - NEW or CHG - AUB.

ALEN is the number of digits in Authcode.

RANR is the RAN route number, use X if not required.
