HOW TO READ TIRC Z-018

INFORMATION SCOPING PRINCIPLES

Purpose of this document is to clearly define the scope of EPIM STI delivery, in order to

achieve common understanding of delivered scope by all stakeholders, as well as to

harmonize approach to requirements scoping across the work groups.

1. EPIM STI INITIATIVE The goal of EPIM STI initiative is to deliver industry agreed minimum necessary

documentation requirements for selected set of products. Its’ purpose is to replace company

specific requirements.

Information requirements for single equipment were a part of the EPIM STI delivery, and this

is now made available as NORSOK Z-018 requirements in tirc.epim.no.

CHALLANGE: “The equipment suppliers stated in the survey meetings that they meet different

requirements from project to project, even if the customer is the same. As a company, it expressed

"We deliver" the same "product every time, but never equal documentation! ".

SOLUTION: Common, accepted, requirements set for the whole value chain, giving

predictability to all involved parties, giving possibility to Suppliers to standardize, industrialize,

reuse, reduce risk.

2. EPIM STI Scope

PRODUCTS SCOPE Scope of QC STI Q2/2019 are commercial standard products (components and single equipment), not

tailormade complex packages.

3. EPIM STI Information requirements scoping

DOCUMENTATION SCOPE EPIM STI listed requirements will represent requirements for documentation available from Supplier

to Purchaser (Purchaser can be: Package Supplier, Contractor or Owner/Operator). STI requirements

address both Project and Operation’s needs (stated in justification).

In certain situations, documentation not being included in the EPIM STI listed requirements may be

included by Purchaser as additional documentation with expected additional costs.

EPIM STI listed requirements will not represent all the documentation that will be necessary for

Supplier to develop in their systems in order to engineer and manufacture the equipment compliant

to standards, directives, etc.



Scoping of information requirements for the physical equipment classes shall be representative

independently on where (asset function and asset location) the equipment is installed. At this stage,

functional perspective will be taken care of through defining conditions (operating conditions).

Example: Work groups are to state any condition that invokes the information requirement for the

information type for the physical equipment class, for example:

Ex certificate is required when following condition applies: “the equipment is installed in hazardous

zone” Weight certificate is required when equipment is “installed offshore and weights more than

1T” The condition is to be specific, “Upon Request” or “If Required” are not valid conditions

4. REQUIREMENTS (PRODUCT-DOCUMENTATION CROSS REFERENCES)

always required to be available by Supplier to Purchaser

Conditional (C)

requirements that shall be available by Supplier to Purchaser when condition is fulfilled

Typical (T)

Documentation that is always same for the given product, not depending of where the

product is installed, by whom, or for which client (documentation that one will expect

to find in common repository such as EqHub)

Individual (I)

Documentation that is individual for the installed product (often related to serial

number)

Note that some documents can be both typical or individual for various applications and the

categorization in “T” and “I” is only indicative.



5. Available for information (AFI) Requirements related to assurance and check of quality in manufacturing phase will very much

depend on Purchaser’s knowledge of Supplier. Well known Supplier, with proven track record,

delivering products based on industry standards, will typically deliver less verification documentation

to Purchaser, than unknown/new Supplier delivering the same product. Therefore, deliverables

such as quality plan, welding, coating, non-destructive examination procedures, should be

evaluated as candidates for being available in digital format to Purchaser, for information

only, when this documentation was part of PO pre-qualification or Frame agreement. This is

indicated with “Yes” in the “Available for information” (AFI) field.

6. REQUIREMENTS GRANULARITY STI delivers documentation/information requirements list. Suppliers standard way of bundling

documentation should be used as far as possible meaning that documentation/information can be

"bundled" in documents or separated as needed.

7. PO Declaration of compliance Document known through NORSOK standards as “Certificate of compliance” is in EPIM STI initiative

renamed to “PO Declaration of compliance”. This was done as this is “egenerklæring”=declaration.

To avoid mix between “Declaration of compliance” and “EU Declaration of conformity”, “PO” was

added to deliverable name.

8. Requirements communicated to Suppliers Requirements should be communicated through SDRL that was evaluated for specific purchase.

Note that big portion of equipment covered by EPIM STI tirc.epim.no will be available through

common equipment repository such as SEMI or EqHUB. Documentation relevant for re-purchase of

the equipment can be reduced for part already available in such repository.

ALIGNMENT WITH OTHER SPECIFICATIONS

9. DNV-GL-O-101 Subsea Requirements scoped for Subsea equipment are aligned with DNV GL RP-O101. Requirements

presently in TIRC are taken from Appendix C of DNV GL RP-O101. Documentation naming and

documentation definitions between subsea part, coming form DNV GL RP-O101, and rest of

equipment, from other disciplines, need some more work to be aligned.

10. JIP36 (CHIFOS) The aim is to fully align Reference Data Libraries (RDL) for equipment classes and documentation

among all ongoing initiatives (JIP33, JIP36 and EPIM STI). At this moment, RDLs across those three

initiatives are partially aligned and will require several iterations before fully aligned.

11. JIP33 EPIM STI delivery covers information requirements for single equipment. JIP33 initiative

covers packaged equipment and some single equipment. When the same boundary applies



to given equipment, then following should be only difference between information

requirements scoped by those two initiatives:

JIP33 gives an overview of the Contract Management Information Requirements. With some

exceptions, EPIM STI does not.

JIP33 will in general have a higher level of granularity of Information requirements (i.e. for

HV switchboard, in EPIM STI the requirement will be “Calculations, curves and tables”; in

JIP33 it will be CT sizing calculation, Heat dissipation Calculation & Loads).

Information requirement definitions will require some iterations before fully aligned.

Information requirements list from EPIM STI available in tirc.epim.no, can be exported in the

Supplier Documentation Requirement List (SDRL). The layout of this export SDRL is aligned with IOGP

JIP33 Information Requirement Specification (IRS) template.

12. IEC 61355 & IEC 62708 IEC 61355 (Classification and designation of documents for plants, systems and equipment) and IEC

62708 (Documents kinds for electrical and instrumentation projects in the process industry) have

been used for organising, classifying and defining documents in the STI project, but there is a need

for further industry focus and update of these standards.

13. EqHUB EPIM STI delivery will give overview over documentation requirements for most of the equipment in

EqHUB repository. Attributes are not covered yet. The plan is to operationalize Z-018 (tirc.epim.no)

requirements through EqHUB as soon as possible.
