Wow This South Pacific island paradise has always been on my bucket list. Now with the event of the Norfolk Island Pacific Triples Bowls Competition from 15th to 22nd September it is time to finally tick it off the Bucket List and have fun playing bowls at the same time. I hope you can join me in September when we will be travelling with Go See Touring and playing in this NEW slice of island history. A short 2 ½ hour flight from Brisbane or Sydney will find you on this beautiful island. Renowned for its connection to the “Bounty” it is steeped in its own unique slice of history. A small piece of land abundant in stories, activities and character, it is a must see. The people of Norfolk Island, like Australians, love their sport. The history of sports on the island goes back to the Second Settlement (1825-1856) when sports were played by the military and free settlers on the sporting fields in Kingston. Some of the sports include bowls, golf and tennis. Most of the shops on Norfolk close at lunchtime on Wednesdays so the locals take the opportunity to play sporting fixtures. Norfolk time is just like bowls time, steady, not too fast, not too slow, but just the right mix for good competition, good times, good friends and good fun. me to tick Norfolk Island off the Bucket List …….

Wow This South Pacific island paradise has always been on my bucket list. Now with the event of the Norfolk Island Pacific Triples Bowls Competition from 15th to 22nd September it is time to finally tick it off the Bucket List and

have fun playing bowls at the same time.

Norfolk Bowls Club

What is believed to have been the

first Bowling Green in the Southern

Hemisphere was situated near Government

House in Kingston from about 1840 onwards. In the early 1900’s the

island also had a couple of private

bowling greens. In 1939 the foundation

members of the Norfolk Island

Bowling Club met and the game

was formalized on Norfolk Island.

The Club now successfully runs

three international tournaments every

year.
