Auto Burglary Targeted Items

The items most frequently targeted by auto burglars are:

336 guns were reported stolen to NOPD year to date with 211 of the 336

firearms reported stolen from vehicles.

CAR KEYS

Ensure vehicles are locked at all times

Do not store spare keys in vehicles

Remove firearms from vehicles daily

Store VALUABLES inside the home

Install motion activated lighting around the home

Store key FOBS far away from vehicles

Report all suspicious activity to police

Observe your surroundings prior to leaving and before exiting your vehicle when returning home.
