The church office will be closed December 22, 23, and 26 for Christmas and January 2 for the New Year’s holidays.

Don't forget that to be tax deductible, all 2016 contributions must be in the church office OR postmarked no later than December 31, 2016. You can also give on-line at www.trumc.org/give. Thank you very much for what you've done to further God's work this year!

We continue to finalize our financial resources as this year comes to a close. To date, we have received a little over two thirds of the pledges needed to reach our goal. Our church has accomplished so much in the community, and your gifts make that possible. Please submit your pledge card for the coming year if you have not already done so. Thank you for your continued support of the mission and ministry at Trenholm Road UMC!

The calendar for signing up to place flowers on the altar in 2017 is located in the West Foyer, posted by the entrance to the administration hallway. If you would like to sign up for altar flowers, please reserve your date with your name and telephone number and you will be contacted the week prior to your date to get your floral preference and designation for the bulletin. The cost for altar flowers is $85.

Youth Discipleship will resume on Wednesday, January 4. Join us for dinner (available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.) and

bible study from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Youth will not meet January 1 but will resume on January 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. Join us for dinner, bible study and

awesome fellowship!

What goes up, must come down. We are in need of volunteers who are willing to lend a hand in taking down and

packing up the Christmas decorations and lights from our efforts of Bringing Christmas Home to Epworth. If you

are available Saturday, January 7, at 8:30 a.m., please email Robin Revels at [email protected]. Please

bring a ladder, if you have one!

Join us and Feeding Children Everywhere on Sunday, February 12, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the gym to package meals to

feed thousands of hungry children throughout our state. Last year, TRUMC raised over $10,000 and packaged 40,000

meals with the help of more than 150 church and community volunteers of all ages. Because volunteer turn out and

contributions were beyond our expectations (thank you!), this time around, our goal is to pack 50,000 meals and for that

we will need to raise $13,500. We are confident that together we can again make a difference. Please spread the word

to family and friends about Hearts for Hunger and visit the mission page at www.trumc.org to sign up and donate. Sign up

will also be held in the West Foyer beginning January 1.

Spring Fling is scheduled for Sunday, April 9! Mark your calendar now and start planning what you can make, bake,

create or donate to the silent auction, bake sale, or hand made crafts store. Let's make this 9th annual event the

biggest and best ever as we seek to serve the children who call Epworth home. More info to come!

The Agnes Rogers Olive Moffatt UMW Circle will meet Tuesday, January 10 at 10 a.m. in MB 110. All women are

invited! We hope to see you!

Did you know that TRUMC was the first United Methodist church in South Carolina to televise its services every Sunday. On that Sunday, February 6, 1983, the end result of a vision and the hard work required to make it a reality brought TRUMC's Sunday service into homes across the Midlands. The broadcast helped connect many Columbians to our church, including many homebound people, who would otherwise be unable to participate, and promote TRUMC's presence in our community.

Beginning in 2017 we will be saying goodbye to three integral parts of the effort to produce a broadcast each week.

Drucilla Brookshire and Dunny Dunlap have been involved with the broadcast ministry from the start, having attended the first meeting where Bill Bouknight initially proposed that TRUMC consider the broadcast. Dru and Dunny have directed broadcasts for many years, with Dru heading up the ministry from 1996 through 2015, a period of 20 years.

Jerry D. Pate served as a director for almost four years. This Cheraw High School graduate enjoyed a long, 23 year career in local radio and television (which included the direction of live TV in the early '60s), and found his work with the TRUMC enabled him to serve the church and relive his enjoyable experiences.

TRUMC would not have been able to deliver broadcasts over the past 34 years were it not for the key contributions of these three people, along with dozens of camera operators, all dedicated to spreading the message to the Midlands. For this service, we sincerely thank them and wish them well.

As we head into 2017 we remain committed to producing a quality TV broadcast, now found at 10 AM on WACH-TV. We are always welcoming new volunteers to operate the cameras. If you can take simple direction and feel comfortable making home movies, after a few minutes of training you’ll be able to operate a camera for our broadcasts. If you have advanced video editing skills, we're also on the hunt for volunteers to help us take the raw footage and condense it into the 30 minute broadcast. Please contact Barry Brandes at [email protected] if you are interested in helping with this vital ministry.

Here is a (we believe) full list of all of those who have served this ministry since its first televised service, 34 years ago. Those in bold are currently serving.

Come and join Pastor Mike, bring a Bible, and bring all of your questions.

Autopsy of a Deceased Church 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. MB 212 No one wants to see a church die. And yet, far too many churches are dying. For more than 25 years, Der. Thom Rainier has helped churches grow, reverse the trends of decline, and has autopsied those that have died. From this experience, he has discovered consistent themes among those churches that have died. Yet, it is not gloom and doom because, from those themes, lessons on how to keep church alive have emerged. Join Pastor Zach for a fruitful discussion on Rainer’s Autopsy of a Deceased Church as we assess the state of our congregation and how to take even greater strides in becoming the church Jesus has called us to be. Books will be available for purchase from the church for $10.

Andy Griffith Bible Study 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. MB 112 (This class begins January 11.) Join Pastor Tom on Wednesday evenings as he continues the fall DVD-based Bible study from the Andy Griffith show. A highlighted scripture is presented followed by an episode of The Andy Griffith show. A discussion of the text and how it is highlighted in the show will follow. This is a fun Bible study that shows that God’s word can be seen and glorified in surprising places!

Be on the lookout for a Time and Talent form for 2017. We will distribute these on Sunday, January 8, in our

worship services where we will recommit ourselves to our baptismal covenant and start our year together with a

mission and vision for ministry at Trenholm Road. Your Time and Talent forms are what we used to call Ministry

Menus. They will be distributed in the January 8 worship services and can be turned in at the end of worship. For

those who do not receive them in worship, we will mail them out. Our mission together is most successful when

we have the most participants. Please prayerfully consider how you will serve God through Trenholm Road in the

church, in the community and in the world.

Help is needed on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month during our Wednesday Night Suppers from 5:15 to 6:30

p.m. to take the meal money and mark attendance for Wednesday night dinners. Please contact Tim Lentz at
