Journalism Written in BloodAn anthology of articles and texts that no bullet can stop.
On the 15th May, the journalist Javier Valdez Cárdenas was murdered in Sinaloa. He was the author of a series of memorable books on the War against Drugs; on the tragedy that families go through each day searching for their missing child; on the brothers who have to go to identify their father’s corpse; on women who are the victims of assassins who not only kill those closest to them but also joke about their situation with the arrogance of a heartless criminal.
He was murdered for showing up at police headquarters, for questioning public ministries, for inconveniencing the drug traffickers.
This book collects examples of his journalism across the works published with Aguilar including reports, full investigations and witness statements; all written with blood, rage, pain and a deep sense of humanity.

Joaquín el Chapo Guzmán. El varón de la droga
Andrés López López
Aguilar
Pages: 280
Pub. date: February 2016
Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Drug LordWho is the man behind “El Chapo”? Andrés López can answer that question as both an expert in narcotrafficking and as a fearsome former drug dealer himself.
López offers us a topical story of intrigue and revenge, inspired in the life of “El Chapo” Guzmán: his childhood, his obsessions, the alliances that allowed for his incredible rise in the drug world. Based on extensive research and written with great skill, this is a fascinating portrait of one of the most terrifying figures in narcotrafficking worldwide.
As a former member of the Cartel del Norte, López has written other books on this topic, like El Cartel de los Sapos ,which became a bestseller and was the basis of the television series “El Cartel,” which was the TV event of the year.

Memorias de los Andes
José Luis Inciarte
Sudamericana
Pages: 176
Pub. date: July 2017
Memories of the AndesJosé Luis Inciarte, Coche, shares the spiritual and emotional trip he took during the seventy-two days that he was badly injured and lost in the Chilean Andes.
In this incomparable kaleidoscope of society formed by the survivors of the Andes in 1972, the attitude and role of Coche Inciarte is always surprising, making a lasting impression on the human condition. If some provided the energy, creativity, hope and courage, Coche had enough talent to provide the simplest and most difficult fuel: tenderness.
The words and illustrations of this book sincerely reflect the experience of the mountain just as the other survivors remember it and feel it.

Boys from WarsawThe Warsaw Uprising told through the author’s family history.
It was one of the most important, heroic and tragic resistance movements of World War II. It began August 1st 1944 and two months later Hitler ordered that the Polish capital be reduced to rubble. Around 150 survivors among those young insurgents -trained and organized in secret and almost unarmed- arrived to Argentina in the late forties and were celebrated as heroes.
Ana Wajszczuk traces her roots in search of these stories and together with her father sets out on a both intimate and transcendent journey from Buenos Aires to Europe.

Don’t forget me ArmenuhiThe moving story of Armenuhi, the author’s grandmother, who survived persecution during the Armenian Genocide and arrived alone to Argentina at 14 years old.
When the ferocious persecution of the Armenian people began in 1915, Armenuhi was one-and-a-half years old and lived with her family in the town of Aintab, at that time part of the Ottoman Empire. Barely an adolescent, Armenuhi was sent to Buenos Aires to marry Yervant, a man twice her age whom she had never met. She lived with him for 50 years and together they made a huge family that has remained close until today. Tireless, Armenuhi passed through the hallways of consulates, embassies and the Red Cross to bring her parents and her siblings from the Middle East and to help her sister leave Soviet Armenia.
Rummaging around in her own memories and her family’s, Magda Tagtachian rebuilds the life of a woman who survived the genocide of her people and dedicated her life to protecting and guiding every one of them.

Inventar lo imposibleManifiestos mexicanos

Invent the impossibleContemporary Mexican Manifestos
Is the manifesto still a valid literary genre and discursive artifact? What does its obsolescence say about our capacity to imagine our collective futures? The manifestos compiled here provide instructions for carrying out our dreams again.
The manifesto is both a literary genre and a mechanism for analyzing the present and imagining distant futures; it is a discursive artifact that seeks to influence reality directly. If during the 20th century manifestos written by the most notable politicians, artists and intellectuals proliferated, it seems that today they have become obsolete. This book seeks to revitalize the genre by calling forth a group of the most prominent Mexican creators (writers, artists, designers, intellectuals and chefs) of the day to write their own manifestos.

MacriMauricio Macri up close, like you’ve never seen him before. The first biography of Argentina’s new leader.
Laura Di Marco went looking for the life story of the new Argentinian president and found the story of the Argentinian elite who have gained power. The son of an Italian immigrant who became one of the most powerful businessmen in Argentina, Mauricio Macri was no spoiled child. In fact, the difficult relationship with his father has a lot, if not everything, to do with his political career.
Macri talks about his father’s precarious health, his demanding mother and his landowning family, of his children with a low public profile, his friends from Cardinal Newman College for boys who are now part of his government, about questionable officials such as Arribas and the suicide of his friend, coach and psychotherapist Goya. His wife, Juliana Awasa, Jaime Durán Barba and Gabriela Michetti also contribute as well as other figures who shape this new Argentinian leader’s biography.

An Intense LifeTime magazine and CNN chose her Leader of the Millennium. Dance Magazine, the most prestigious dance magazine worldwide, voted her one of the top ten ballerinas of the century.
Paloma received the Platinum Konex Prize for Best Ballerina of the decade, as a recognition for being the biggest name in dance in Argentina. She retired from the stage at forty after an impeccable trajectory recognized by countless awards.

After living a CenturyUna biografía de Violeta Parra
An uncomfortable biography about who she truly was, her militant rejection of Spanish Francoism, her ambivalence about Argentine Peronism, and her unshakeable commitment to social justice.
Who was Violeta Parra? Much has been said about the songs “Gracias a la Vida” and “Volver a los 17”. However not as much is known about their author’s life. Was she really a poor peasant who reached international fame against all odds? How did she come up with her songs of political protest that were so ahead of their time that they became global anthems? Why and how did she commit suicide in February of 1967?
This is the story of a world famous singer, poet and songwriter, butal so the story of her time: the rise of the left and the unions, the migration from the countryside to the city, and the people’s battle to make their voices heard...

The Seed of HatredAn exhaustive review of a decade in Iraq and a reconstruction, through intense and heart-rending reports, of the steps that led to a whole region being held hostage by Iraq’s Islamic State, the origin of ISIS.
The illegal invasion of Bagdad in 2003 and the following misgovernment had the people of Iraq up in arms, but also revived the sectarian hatred that was buried during Sadam Hussein’s dictatorship. The Shiite majority’s rise to power, repressed by the Sunni minority for decades, and the invaders’ supposed impunity stoked the flame of a nationalist insurgence, who in their fight against foreign forces formed alliances with jihadists, who themselves are more inclined to spread terror with suicide bombings.

Dangerous Societies: The Story behind The Panama Papers The story behind The Panama Papers, winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting.
This book uncovers the secrets of the famous journalistic investigation known as The Panama Papers. The book’s authors are from the Panama newspaper La Prensa, the only local paper to be involved in the international investigation.
The story starts when the lawyer Jürgen Mossack, son of a Nazi, visits the La Prensa offices in an attempt to dissuade the directors from prolonging the outrage towards his firm and its illegal financial dealings with politicians, pedophiles, drug traffickers, multinationals and banks. We know now that Mossack was not successful in his plea. Why not? How was the massive leak orchestrated? Who was interested in revealing which hundreds of well-known people had assets in tax havens?

América Latina, between Trump and China A modern geopolitics essay that establishes an important discussion on the development of Uruguay.
Uruguay, together with its Latin American neighbors, is witnessing an interesting and unique point in its history: while the populist leftist governments fall apart, its northern neighbors, the USA, have elected a controversial and grandstanding president that proposes policies of withdrawal from the global stage and a focus on domestic production.
In this particular context, the sleeping giant that is China are stepping in to increase their influence in Latin America, choosing Uruguay as a strategic first step. What implications does this step present for the region? Is it an opportunity or a threat? What point of view should the government and diplomacy in general take?
Lacalle Herrera reflects on the motivations behind these actions and offers proposals for the best future of Latin America.

The Anatomy of a Trick A true history of greed and the desire for power.
In 2009, Ricardo Martinelli was elected president of Panama. His first official trip was to Italy to meet a character he admired: Silvio Berlusconi. The meeting ended with the signing of million-dollar contracts and the discovery of some strange commissions whose destination is revealed in this story.
The Anatomy of a Trick narrates from the first encounter between both leaders, the roles played by different people, clandestine trips, phone call recordings, threats to journalists, the spread of fake news, until the investigation process carried out by journalists from both countries and two Italian prosecutors who, with their inquiries, managed to surprise the tricksters.
Fernando Berguido was involved in the investigations that first reported the contracts, he followed the saga that lasted more than five years, and ended up as the Panamanian ambassador to Italy in charge of the negotiations that ended with the cancelation of the contracts and the refund of the surcharges

1968A tour through the revolutionary 1968, the year that young people around the world rose up.
2018 will mark 50 years since the revolution that was going to change the world, a triumph of the hope and imagination that sought beaches beneath the cobblestones of Paris.
Paris, Mexico, Japan, the United States were some of the places where a new generation of youth, mostly students, appeared and defined a new way of understanding politics and the public space. Its consequences are still felt today.
In this book, part essay, part historical chronicle, the author revisits what happened and outlines the guidelines of some of the changes that revolutionized the world.

Spain, what happened to us? From hope to disillusionment?A political, personal and emotive memory of 40 years of democra-cy in Spain.
If Franco thought he had left everything all tied up so that his regime continued further than he did, between January and June of 1977, the Spanish people were undoing the knots that bound them to the past and freeing themselves from the tight straightjacket they had worn for over forty years. The process was full of tension, with the end of the National Movement and the legalization of the Communist Party, having its first big milestone on 15th June 1977, the day when the Spanish people went to the ballots for the first time since 1936 to choose their members of parliament.
The generation born under democracy has put almost all aspects of the Transition’s success into question: everything from the role of the monarchy in the constitutional legislation, to the organization of the autonomous communities, the electoral system and the parties themselves. Fernando Ónega analyses the highlights and lowlights of this era as he looks into this past, from the present, to find answers about Spain’s future.

The Senderist WarThis book is an exhaustive investigation of the history of Shining Path –the terrorist group that triggered the internal war in Peru during the eighties– told from the testimony of one of its principal leaders, Elena Yparraguirre.
This book tells two stories. The first is a general story of the war which describes, with historical rigor and a narrative pulse, everything from the political cell that provoked the various rifts within Peruvian communism in the seventies until the final collapse of Shining Path with the capture of Guzman. In the second story the war is seen through the eyes of Elena Yparraguirre, third in command of Shining Path who was given a life sentence for terrorism.
If Guzman was the ideologue of the group of terrorists, Yparraguirre was the organizer: a tough and efficient woman who organized the closest thing that Peru had to a killing machine.

The Monchi MethodThe Keys to the Work System of the King Midas of World Football.
Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo (San Fernando, 1968), more commonly known as Monchi, has become an international icon. A self-taught athletic director, pushed into the position as an emergency solution at a time when FC Sevilla had debts and little else, Monchi achieved the unimaginable with a club that had never stood out globally until his arrival.
This book, halfway between an academic manual of an exciting business model and a summary of anecdotes related to the signings and the tempestuous world of professional football, attempts to show the ins and outs of a profession that moves hundreds of millions of euros every year.
Daniel Pinilla has found the keys to the work system that has made Monchi a global reference worthy of the study and the admiration of clubs and universities. The athletic director has shared his vision so that this book becomes his main legacy for football enthusiasts and those interested in unconventional and

Feminist Economy How To Build An Egalitarian Socie-ty (And Still Remain Glamorous).
A world reference economist, when it comes to women’s roles in business, questions the stereotypes about women in economics, politics, science, and business, and their impact on social relationships.
Women’s massive entrance into the workforce rapidly and profoundly transformed society, which has yet to readapt. Working women still face a salary gap, house chores, motherhood, poverty and inequality. Only 4% of the largest businesses in the US are run by women; only 2% in Latin America. How is it possible that in 2016 most countries have never had a female president? Why do women do most of the housework? The answers lead down various paths, from education to the money spent on makeup.

I’m Going to Be AssertiveA practical manual for developing feminine self-esteem and assertiveness.
In the personal and professional domains, women confront situations in which the lack of assertiveness leads them to resort to excessively aggressive forms of expression that overshadow their message, or end up silencing themselves out of fear of provoking conflict.
The authors lay out the basic skills for the assertive woman – self-knowledge, emotional regulation, self-esteem, active listening or empathy – and apply these strategies to women’s everyday life in a couple and in the family, as mothers or daughters and in the workplace as employees, directors or freelancers.

The Daughters of Eva and LilithThis book reveals the truth about the history of women and suggests living with greater freedom, without the tombstone of interpretation or invention.
Throughout history Eva has been wrongly told and Lilith, silenced. In this book, fifteen archetypes illustrate the woman of the 21st century and show an evolution that is worth living. Through a tour of the paintings of Eva and several myths, this books helps explain where women are today, what they carry from their past, how to free themselves from that past and their own prejudices, how to get back in touch with their gender and from there, how to relate to the other.

Anti-Manual of Affectionate Self-DestructionA scathing and intelligent text on affectionate and sexual relationships.
After reading thousands of self-help books and being incapable of helping herself, the author of this book decided that if the guides to being happy didn’t work, she would have to write and anti-manual.
This book is a biting and intelligent criticism of the little lies we have been told about love (from Disney), about sex (from movie soundtracks), from men (who appear in books by Moccia) and from women (who appear in perfume commercials). It also tells a fun story that discusses love (that of doing the dishes every day), sex (the my-head-hurts and I’m-on-my-period kind), men (those who take the metro) and women (those who see perfume commercials and feel like orcs in a world of ponies). Baby-led weaning70 recipes for your child to eat alone
Introductory book to baby-led weaning with recipes to begin practicing this kind of feeding.
Starting at about six months, babies can begin to eat solid food to supplement the nutrients they get from breast milk or formula. The baby-led weaning (BLW) suggests forgetting about purées and baby food and offers the baby solid foods cooked in a way so that they can feed themselves. This way, the youngster learns to eat independently, chew, swallow the correct amounts, regulate what they eat and identify when they feel full, which will help them develop a much healthier relationship with food. It also fosters their curiosity, works fine psychomotricity and is a very positive sensory stimulation.

Village Teacher. With an L for Learner The most popular teacher on the internet tells of her beginnings in this fun graphic novel.
Maria had hardly set foot on campus in her life but when they offered her a job for the first time at a school, she doesn’t care that it’s in a one-horse town and she takes the wheel without hesitation: Finally she will be a teacher!
This novice teacher will be forced to pull out all her stunts to survive a year in a rowdy second-grade class. What no one taught her at university is that she would also have to be an excellent judge, detective, nurse, designer, banker… All of that without losing her calling to teach.
