Non Included Items for Paint Preparation of a
Recycled Part
A paint thickness reading is taken on recycled part to determine if additional
paint steps are necessary.
Remove latch assembly from used deck lid.

Remove hinges from recycled deck lid.

Remove rubber deck lid stoppers.

Remove tail lamps from recycled deck lid.

Remove lock cylinder from recycled deck lid.

Remove outside handle from recycled deck lid.

Remove Honda emblem from recycled deck lid.

Sand the outside of the recycled deck lid with 500 dry grit sandpaper.
Inspection after the recycled deck lid was sanded, revealed a scratch that would
have to be repaired.
Scratch in the paint
Sand the scratch with 320 Grit Dry sandpaper.

Sand scratch repair with 500 grit. Sand used deck lid with 600 grit dry or 800 grit
wet.
Mask off NHTSA tag.
Sand the underside of the recycled deck lid with a “scotch brite”.
A spray out card is made to check the tint on the color.

Check spray out card with vehicle. Correct tint if needed.

Apply sealer to repaired area of recycled deck lid.
