A non-fiction book is about facts. You can't just make it up. Non Fiction M – Find out the difference between Fiction and Non Fiction. T – What are the features of a Non Fiction text? W – Plan and research your own Non Fiction sheet. Th – Create and write your own non Fiction piece of writing on the area you researched. F – Comprehension

Please complete the handwriting in your handwriting book, the Non Fiction tasks in your books and your comprehension on the sheets (if you can’t print, then write the questions out in your book and answer the questions – this is good handwriting practice).

Tuesday – What are the features of a Non Fiction text? A non-fiction book is about facts. You can't just make it up.

Activity Read through the features of a Non Fiction text above. Really get to know what they are and remember them. Look through 6 Non Fiction books. Which of the features can you find in them? Are they all in them? Which ones are in all of your Non Fiction books? Look at the layout of the pages so you have an idea for tomorrow.

Wednesday – Plan and research your own Non Fiction sheet. A non-fiction book is about facts. You can't just make it up. Examples of what a Non Fiction text might look like.

Activity Decide on what type of Non Fiction text you would like to write (fact file, information text, a report) Decide what you would like to write information about. Look at the features of a Non Fiction text from yesterday. Which ones will / can you use? Research your information. Remember they must be facts not made up. Make notes. Look at your Non Fiction books to give you an idea on how to set your page out.

Thursday – Create and write your own non Fiction piece of writing on the area you researched.

Using your notes from yesterday, write your own Non Fiction text. Remember to use facts.

Make sure you use the skills we have learnt over the last couple of weeks.

You must use capital letters and full stops, use neat handwriting, reread your sentences and your presentation must be neat.

Friday – Comprehension

This week you have a 60 second comprehension. (Target is 90 words in 60 seconds in Year 2). This is to build up fluency. You have 60 seconds to read the text

and then onto answering the questions (The 60 seconds isn’t to answer the questions, just to read the text). Please go back to the text to support answering
