No Texting or Talking!!! T/Os and C/Rs are being suspended without pay and are facing dismissal for using their cell phones while operating -- and even for having cell phones in sight. Protect your job -- turn off your cellphone. If the phone is off, it won't ring. If it doesn't ring, you won't be tempted to answer. Put your cell phone in your bag or leave it in your locker and you won’t risk being suspended without pay for weeks. Is a phone call or text as important as your job? Transit Bulletin 181-10 warns: "This extremely unsafe act will subject you to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal in the first instance." The TA has briefed all its supervisors and managers to monitor T/Os and C/Rs for cell phone use. If you have a cell phone in your hand, on your belt, on the console or have Bluetooth or earphones in evidence you will be taken out of service. Even passengers are videotaping crews on cell phones and posting them to YouTube. So protect yourself by not using your cell phone or having it within sight, on your belt, with earphones in your ear, or dangling earphones from your neck. And don't recharge your phones in operating cabs either. So stay off the phone and stay on your job.
