On March 19, the Board of Regents voted to bans tobacco products on college campuses.

The tobacco ban starts Oct. 1, 2014.

It’ll ban all forms of tobacco, including smokeless and electronic.

All students, faculty and staff must follow this rule.

The SGA conducted a survey which say 33 percent of VSU student strongly supported the policy.

And 44 percent of VSU students strongly opposed it.

CDC says about 443,000 individuals die yearly.

There’s 46 million people 18 and older using tobacco.

Over 16 million have a disease caused by smoking.

Valdosta makes up .36 percent of that number.

Assistant Director for the Offi ce of Health Promotions, Holly Wright supports The Board of Regents vote to ban tobacco.

She said the Offi ce of Health Promotions want to educate VSU community on the dangers associated with tobacco use.
