Chapter 1: Why Do We Procrastinate?

Here's a common question I hear people ask all the time: Do successful peopleprocrastinate at times too?

My answer is...Of course!

But what truly separates them from the rest is the fact that they understandprocrastination is just a bad habit, just like nail biting and nose picking, andit can be replaced with a more empowering habit.

So, why do we procrastinate?

Here are 4 reasons why...

Reason 1: Bad Habit

Most people's pattern in life is to wait - to wait for someday. They will saythings like, "Let's do this tomorrow" and "I don't feel like doing this today".

And because there's always a next tomorrow, they almost never get down todoing it... until the deadline is near.

Although they know things need to be done, they always seem to havesomething else more important or exciting to do. Do you know what I'mtalking about?

In fact, this is a common experience among my seminar participants.Whenever I ask if they have the same experience, I would see all of themnodding their head in unison.

One the other hand, are there people who are always motivated and gettingthings done way ahead of the schedule? Of course there are!

Usually, these are the top performers in their organizations where they notonly do what they are expected quickly and effectively...they do a lot morethan what is expected.

Page 6: No Limits Habit Book

www.TheNoLimitsHabit.com

If you've gone through my Secrets of Self-Millionaire book, you'd know that"doing more than expected" is the 6th wealth habit of all self-made millionaires.

This is what separates ordinary businesses from extraordinary businesses, and an average-salaried employee from a superstar high income earner.

How do I know? Simple!

I interviewed some of the top income earners of each industry and I realizedall of them have a common "secret" to their success - they have a habit ofdoing more than expected.

Well...Can we adopt the same habit as well?

Of course you can!

But to change our habits, we must first understand that our habits are formedbased on what we think about most of the time. Here's a diagram to help youunderstand better:

Beliefs→Habits

Yet, many people do not understand this. Instead of changing their beliefs, they continue to hold on to their existing limiting beliefs and they attempt tochange their habits directly.

Let me give you a real-life example...

I have a friend who used to be a smoker. For years, he has been attempting toquit the bad habit. But no matter how much he resist, he would eventuallygive in to the temptation of smoking.

Everything changed forever when he collapsed at home with a heart attack.

Fortunately, he received medical attention in the nick of time and was saved. It didn't come as a surprise to know that he quit smoking for good after thatincident...

Page 7: No Limits Habit Book

www.TheNoLimitsHabit.com

7 | P a g e

© 2010 All Rights Reserved. TheNoLimitsHabit.com.

But what really surprised and brought warmth to my heart was that hestopped smoking not because of the traumatic experience of heart attack(which his doctor said was due to his smoking habits)... but because ofsomething more precious to him - his only daughter.

It turned out that on the day he had his heart attack, his little daughter wasright beside him. Seeing her father collapse all of a sudden, she was sofrightened.

And after her father regained consciousness, she pleaded with her father,“Dad… Please don’t go. I don't want you to die.”

Now, one thing you might be interested to know is that my friend used tobelieve that “smoking wouldn’t kill him”. But from that day onwards, he had atotal change of his belief.

He knew that if he doesn’t quit smoking right away, he might have the nextheart attack and lose his daughter for good...

Unwilling to lose the most precious thing to him, he immediately stopped hissmoking habit for good.

Can you see how powerful changing your beliefs is? Once my friend changedhis belief from “smoking wouldn't kill” to “smoking might cost me my life andcost me time with my daughter”, he immediately stopped smoking.

When his belief changed, his habit immediately changed. Once you changeyour beliefs to support you taking a new course of action, you do not have torely on any willpower at all!

To give you an experience of how powerful changing your beliefs are, you'll bedoing an exercise that I've prepared for you in chapter 2.

In Chapter 2, you’ll learn how to change your beliefs so you can kick yourprocrastination habit out of your life for good.

Page 8: No Limits Habit Book

Reason 2: Fear of Failure.

Many people procrastinate because they fear feeling bad if they don't get theresults they want.

It took Edison more than 10,000 attempts to discover the tungsten filamentthat worked in the light bulb. When a reporter asked him how he managed togo on working despite having 'failed' so many times, Edison replied, "I havenot failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

He then explained to the reporter that each failure gave him hope. Every timehe failed, he knew he was one step closer to finding the answer.

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close theywere to success when they gave up."

- Thomas Edison

Successful people make more mistakes than others but these mistakes neverstop them from setting and achieving new goals.

If you're not making mistakes, you probably aren't doing enough.

Force yourself to get out of your comfort zone and take action. In fact, if youlook back into your life, you'd realize that most of the major changes in yourlife happened only when you stepped out of your comfort zone.

I always like to say that our minds are just like rubber bands. Once you stretchit beyond a certain length, it can never return to its original length again.Likewise, once you stretch beyond your comfort level, you will never be thesame person again.

In Chapter 2, you will also identify the fears that are pulling you back fromyour success and you’ll also learn how to overcome them to get more thingsdone.

Reason 3: Lack of Motivation

One of the most important things you need for success in life is motivation. Tobe able to run a business, manage people, write a book, etc...all requiremotivation right?

However, the problem is that for many people, feeling motivated to get thingsdone is extremely challenging.

Truth is that motivation is an emotional state, just like anger and happiness. And just like how we can move from happiness to anger by the slightestincidents (like when someone badmouths us), we can also move from feelingsluggish to feeling totally motivated with the snap of the finger.

How? By applying the state management technique that you'll be learning inChapter 3, we not only can use it to experience a state total motivation. Wecan also apply it to experience confidence before giving a presentation...or tosnap out of a state of confusion, into a state of total certainty within seconds.

We'll go through the state management technique in Chapter 3.

Reason 4: Feeling Overwhelmed

Were there times when you simply had too much to do, and you got sooverwhelmed you didn't feel like doing it?

Why is that so?

Some people get too overwhelmed with the number of tasks they need tocomplete that it paralyzes them. This happens especially when we're doingsomething new for the first time and we get overwhelmed with so muchinformation we have absolutely no idea where to start...and so we don't!

People call this "analysis of paralysis" - which means over-analyzingsomething to the stage where we are paralyzed, not knowing what actions totake.

So the trick here is to break down the tasks you have to do into simpler tasks. Why? Because completing a task one after another, no matter how simple or

Page 10: No Limits Habit Book

not, gives us a sense of achievement and satisfaction. These empoweringfeelings can further motivate us to complete even more work.

This is the secret why successful people are so addicted to success all the time.

In Chapter 4, you'll discover a 90-year old system to getting more things donein a shorter period.

Overcome Procrastination And Start Living A Life ofNo Limits Today!

Procrastinators are always able to find reasons for not getting started. To takecontrol of your life, you have to accept responsibility for everything thathappens in your life.

If you've read any of my previous books, you'd know that I'm a huge believerin taking 100% responsibility of our life to be successful. So before you learnthe steps to developing the No Limits Habit, commit to your personal resultsand give your full participation to the exercises that follows.

I'll see you in the next chapter when you are ready...

Chapter 2: The No Limits Habit

4 Steps to Kicking Procrastination Out Of Your Life!

The first step to change is awareness. Until and unless you are aware of yourhabits and why you behave a certain way, you will not know what tochange...and how to change it.

What are the tasks you have been putting off? What is the reason for puttingthem off?

Be honest with yourself. Invest the time to reflect and to write down yourthoughts. The exercises that follow are designed to help you uncover the realemotional reasons that could be pulling you back in life...and help youovercome them so reaching your goals is more possible...and easier!

As you go through these 4 steps, I want you to participate actively in using theexercises to create the transformation in your life that you desire.

Step 1. Awareness & Finding Enough Reasons to Change

1.1. What tasks have you’ve been putting off? List them down below.e.g. Writing books, starting your own seminar

1.2. What is stopping you from completing each of the tasks? Is it a limiting belief? E.g. I’m not good at writing books. Is it fear? E.g. I’m afraid of speaking in front of a crowd.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

1.3. How were the beliefs and fears created? What are the evidences thatsupport your beliefs and fears?e.g Was it because you’ve never gotten an A grade in English? Was it becauseyou felt totally embarrassed after stammering in front of a crowd?

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

1.4. What has not completing these tasks cost you in the past? How will itcost you in the future?e.g. It has cost me at least $10,000 in royalties that I could have otherwiseearned after publishing and selling my books. With that money, I could havegone for the vacation to a country I’ve always wanted to travel to.

Step 2. Breaking Through Your Past & Designing Your New Future

Once you realize that your previous habits and beliefs are stopping you fromtapping on your full potential in life, you must then create a new set ofempowering beliefs to replace them. What new belief would be moreempowering to get you to start taking action?

For example, if your old belief was, ‘I am not good at writing books’, the newbelief can be ‘I can learn how to become a best-selling author’.

If your old belief was ‘I am too old to start a business’, the new belief can be ‘Iam able to make better decisions’. Write down your new empowering beliefsnow.

2.1. What new beliefs do you need to adopt right now to empower myselfto complete my tasks?

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

2.2. What evidences can I use to support my new beliefs?e.g. I used to be bad at Maths. But after taking the time to practice andlearning from my mistakes, I got an A grade. If I learn Math, I can alsolearn how to write best-selling books.

Step 3. Future Pacing

Take some time and imagine yourself in the future with your new beliefs. What will you do differently? How would you behave differently? How wouldyou benefit from the new beliefs?

Think about it a year from now. Two years from now. Five years from now.Write down all the ways you will benefit from having this new empoweringbelief.

3.1. By adopting these new beliefs, what new actions will I take? Whatwill I do differently?e.g. I will start buying best-selling books and find out their writing style. I willjoin toastmasters to brush up my public speaking skills.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

3.2. By adopting the new beliefs, how will it benefit me?e.g. I will have a new stream of passive income after my book is published. I willhave recognition and credibility in my own field.

Step 4. Get Your Engine Started Right Now!

After visualizing how it is like to be in the future with your new beliefs, youhave to start taking certain actions to design your future…starting from today.

Research has been done on successful people and one of the common traitsamong them is their ability to implement certain things faster than theaverage person.

Successful people understand that to experience results as quickly as possible, they not only have to do things differently…they have to do them fast.

The Speed of Implementation

Here is a common scenario for my seminar attendees…

More than 60 individuals can attend the same wealth creation seminar I holdfor the same weekend. But each of them can experience drastically differentresults from one another. Some will return to their own lives anddouble…sometimes even triple their wealth, but to another group ofindividuals, nothing extraordinary happens.

I mean, they were in the same environment, taught by the same trainers andspent the same weekend in the seminar. So what made the difference?

Curious, I decided to find out the differences by asking the attendeesquestions.

Time and time again, the difference lies in the speed of implementation. Forthose attendees who experienced a quantum increase in their wealth, a largeproportion of them follow a common course of action – using the goals andaction plan that they developed in my seminar, they will return home andapply it within the next 24 hours while their energy levels are still high.

That’s what you’ll be doing here. To get the maximum results out of thiscourse, you will have to start taking action right away. Remember, the actions

Page 16: No Limits Habit Book

we take (or don’t take) today determines the results we get (or don’t get)tomorrow.

Out of the list of actions that you’ve listed in Step 3.1, what actions can youtake within the next 24 hours? Write them down.

4.1. What actions can I take in the next 24 hours?

Chapter 3: Control Your Emotional State

Humans are emotional creatures. We make decisions based on emotions, andjustify them with logic. And that's why if you attempt to use logic to overcomeprocrastination, it's virtually a 0% success rate.

You could be telling yourself things like, "I really should get started" and"procrastination is bad", but if you don't feel motivated to do something, chances are you will never get around doing it.

So, to overcome procrastination, changing your beliefs may not be enough. You need to change your emotional state.

Then the question is, how do I get motivated around doing something?

Fortunately, that's where I come in. As you already know, I train thousands ofindividuals from all walks of life each year...and transform them into highlymotivated success magnets in as little as 3 days.

How?

Direct Your Physiology

Our emotional state is affected by the way we direct our physiology:

1. Your posture. Are you shoulders upright or slouched? Is your head tilted up or down?

2. Your breathing patterns. Are you breathing fast or slow?Deep or shallow?

3. Your facial expression. Are your facial muscles upright or droopy? Are your eyes focused or de-focused?

Page 18: No Limits Habit Book

www.TheNoLimitsHabit.com

18 | P a g e

© 2010 All Rights Reserved. TheNoLimitsHabit.com.

4. Your tonality. Are you speaking fast or slow?Loud or soft?

5. Your muscle tension.Which parts of your muscles are tensed or relaxed?

6. Your movement speed. Are you making fast or slow movements?

Every Emotional State Is Directed By A Specific

Physiology

In order to access certain emotional states, you have to direct your body in acertain way.

For example, to feel confident, you have to:

Pull your shoulders backwards and stand upright.

Breathe in a fast and deep pattern

Focus your eyes and keep a mild smile on your face

Speak in a fast and loud tone

It's just that we do all these so habitually we are no longer consciously awareof it.

If you don't change your physiology, it is IMPOSSIBLE to change youremotional state!

For example, if your shoulders are slouched and you tilt your head down...youbreathe in a slow and shallow pattern...defocus your eyes and droop yourfacial muscles...speak in a slow and soft tone... it's impossible for you to feelexcited!

Page 19: No Limits Habit Book

www.TheNoLimitsHabit.com

© 2010 All Rights Reserved. TheNoLimitsHabit.com.

To change your physiology, follow the below instructions closely. After goingthrough the activity, you will be able to transform your emotional states into aknob that you have 100% control over.

You don't have to take my word for it. Simply go through this activity and youwill experience the results yourself...

State Management Technique

Step 1: Accessing Your State of Total Motivation

1.1. Think of a time in the past when you felt totally motivated.

See what you saw and hear what you heard. Write it down below.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

1.2. Stand the way you would stand if you felt totally motivated.Notice your posture. Is it slouched or upright? ________________________

1.3. Breathe the way you would breathe if you felt motivated. Are you breathing fast or slow? ________________________Deep or shallow? ________________________

1.4. Look the way you would when you felt totally motivated. Are your eyes focused or defocused? ________________________Are your facial muscles upright or droopy? ________________________

Page 20: No Limits Habit Book

1.5. Gesture the way you would if you felt totally motivated. What is the gesture? ________________________Which muscles in your body are tensed or relaxed?

__________________________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________________

1.6. Say what you would say to yourself if you felt totally motivated. What did you say? ________________________________________________Is your volume loud or soft? ________________________Is your pitch high or loud? ________________________

Step 2: Testing Your Physiology

Now, how do you know if you've broken the code to instant Motivation?Simple...

Test it!

2.1. Break state. Think about your mobile number and read it backwards.

2.2. Test the parameters you've written down in Step 1. Now, take a look atthe answers you've written down in Step 1. Assume your emotional state byfollowing the parameters you've written down.

2.3. Check results. Do you feel motivated right now? If yes, congratulations! You have broken the code of instant motivation! If no, go back to step 1 againand repeat the answers until you feel totally motivated in Step 2.

You Can Use This Technique For Any Emotional State!

Like I've said, you can use this technique when you want to feel confident, happy and even loved. Have fun with this technique and when you're ready,I'll see you on the next chapter!

Chapter 4: The 90 Year-Old Trick to Getting MoreThings Done

In 1920, Charles Schwab, Chairman of Bethlehem Steel hired a productivityexpert, Ivy Lee, to help with increasing the effectiveness of his managers justto be sure they are fully utilizing their time.

Ivy Lee simply handed him a blank sheet of paper and told him that he couldgive him the solution in a short while. All Ivy needed is to speak with one ofthe managers.

Charles agreed.

In less than 20 minutes, Ivy Lee came up with the simplest time managementsystem till this day and taught it to Charles and the manager. It goes like this:

1. At the end of each day, make a list of the top 6 tasks you want tocomplete the next day

2. Arrange the tasks according to their level of importance, the mostimportant task at the top of the list.

3. Start working on the first task, and keep working on it until youcomplete it. Do your best to stick to it until it’s completed, beforemoving on to the next task.

Unaware of the power of this system, Charles was skeptical if it could really bethat simple. But Ivy was so confident he told Charles to test the system out fora few weeks and then send him a check for what he thought the idea wasworth.

Charles had absolutely nothing to lose and he agreed.

In a couple of weeks, Charles sent Ivy Lee a check of $25,000 (which is anequivalent of at least $250,000 today and later said that this was the mostprofitable lesson he had ever learned in his entire business career!

Page 22: No Limits Habit Book

Now, can you apply this system into your life? Sure you can! And that’s whatyou’re about to do…

1.1. Write down a list of tasks you want to complete tomorrow. You maywrite as many tasks as you want.

1.2. Out of the list, choose 6 of the more important tasks and list themaccording to their level of importance, with the most important task atthe top of the list.

1.3. Write this list onto a piece of paper or your notebook. Take out thislist and follow it tomorrow. Do your best not to move on to the next itemuntil you have completed the previous task.

Sounds simple? You bet!
