Democracv's FAT E in Prophecy! J

ETS try to clear the picture, Since war came to us, most Arne& L cans have been groping in confusion,

We wd, we hear, disjointed news dis- patches. We get a part af the pidurc at a time, But we usually fail to grasp the true conndoa to the whole,

What is the WHQLB picture? Let's 9 to get our perspective.

The truth is, America today is fighting for its life in a war that is world-wide, We woke up on the morning of December 7th to find outselves plunged suddenly into a taro-ocean war, with our one-ocean Navy reduced to secondary strength even before wc heard the astounding news.

Who Is Number One Enemy? Ever since our eyes have been centered

mostly on the Pacific. But let us get our bewings. Who is out number one epemy- Japan or Hitler with whom the United States also is at war?

Few seem to realize that a Japan in coa- trol of all Asia, the mighty base of S i n p pore, the South Pacific including Australia, and probably India, might rove a harder

mission than a Hitler io possession of all Bumpc. There is the probability that Hit ler's new Euorpe, in time, will disintqrate from within, But if China, cut off from supplies Etom the United States, is forced to give up the fight, we might find tbal the long-urpcded war between the Oriental and Occidental races has materialized, with Japan in possession of more than halE of the entire world population!

And we might PI well underitand at the outset that it will take a minimum of onc

enemy to dislodge and fina R y beat to sub.

It has &en quite a little more than sh weeks since Rad Harbor-and let w f rahkly examine what happened.

caused our people some anger. Yet they b v e k n taken in America with relative complacncy, men yet ouz p p f c do not snm to full reaka we arc up against the real thing, f t does not yet seem to sink through to our American consaousness that, as atsted in the first- age headline of the ~ p t e ~ r - ~ t x r &AIN TRUTH, " h r i c a stands in Mortal DANGER, Now!" We have grossIp underestimated the

Japs. We have taken too much for granted. We have been so occupied assuming we coul4 lick the whole world, if need be, that we have aeglccted to PREPARE for the job, So we were caught flat-footed-- unprepared! We have d e r e d She conse- qucnccs of horscand-buggy-day planning by the old-school heads of the Navy. And never in all history have two nations becn SO thoroughly prepatrd as are the G e m s and the Japs today.

While we bavc been meeting these stipsing reverses in the Pacific, we have listened optimistically to exaggerated news stories coming out of Russia, and somehow formed the idea that the Russians have chased Hitler dear out of Russia and are now about to take Berlin from dlsorgaaized, and terror-stricken Germans. But if you will lo& at a mp and the facts, you will see that the Russians have retaken exactly TEN PERCENT-and no mors-of their own territory. The Germans have merely fallen, back a slight distance for the winter, whpe they arc preparing for the Spring offensive in which they plan to conquer all Russia,

!"he Hitler propaganda machine saw to 2 that confidential news happened to leak out of Germany to the dect that the Ger- man army w a crumbling-HMer about to be throws over, and a peace satisfactory to the Dmocada made by the German gene uals. Then Herr Goebells suddenly heard

of these rumors, and indignantly denied hem. And America - ot part of the Ameri- can public-fell for the German tridc, and was lulled into further overconfidence, be- lieving Hitler was about to collapse!

But the plain truth we published even before the war began: "America Stands in Mortal DANGER. Now!" It is time we faced the facts.

Six Vital Fortress-Gates But now to view the WHOLE picture

of this war - the objectives, the strategy, the situation at the momenr, the prophecy of the future.

The MANY battles being fought around the world fall into a slngle scheme.

The Democracies have a DEFENSE- LINE. It circles the globe, and hinges on SIX great and vital fortrer~cr. They are ALLimportant.

The six fortress-gates are: The British Isles, Gibralter, Suez Canal, Singapore, Pearl Harbor, the Panama Canal.

On these six vital fortresses rests the fate of Demdcraq upon earth!

On these six strategic bases lies the abil- ity of the Democraclcs to help each other- to unify their efforts. They are the G A T E through which all world tratfic must flow, whether in peace-time or in wac. They are the CONNECTING LINK6 which alone can prevent the Demactacg nations from bchg severed, cut 08 from one another and from unified action together. m ] q are the key points to allied mobility. All the war effort must swing from them, and pivot on them, They are thc great bases nacssary both for defense, and for later A'ITAClS, They are the springbards from which any attack upon the enemy must be made. They are actually the GATES of our enemy na- tions,

!The Central Grand Stratgey of Each Side

And that is exactly the CRUX of the central grand strategy of each side In this war !

Remember, the h i s nations are the "Have-riots,"-we are the "Haves." Bri- tain and Amcrlca together possess more thao two-thirds of id1 the earth's wealth, resources, raw materials. That is the under- lying CAUSE of the war. The Axis powers are bandit cut throats now ganging up on us, attempting to take away from us this vast wealth.

So the Axis over-all OBJECTIVE is to din tbs ruw materials tbey lack 4nd must

8,ue to continue, and 10 win. Not yet quipped or pre ared to take

the Democracies must be a defensive war af attrition-a delaying action-an effort to prevent the Axis from acquiring additional sources of supply - especially oil -thus starving them into colla se, or weakening

the offensive, the over-all 0 % JECTJvE of

them fot the day when tK e Democracies are

foes. That time, incidentally, cannot arrive before 1943; perha s 1944!

But the Axis Sh7'EGY, or amrtbod for worn lishing their objcetivc, has been -and stilris-to divide the enem nations,

time. To illustratc: Joe Louis is the prize-

fight champion of the world. One by one he has met and defeated 21 other fighten, each rated, at the time, as the best man in the world to opposc him, But if these fighters had combined forces, all twenty= one attacking Louis at once, you con ima- gine what a different story would hvc been written,

Hitler's strategy has been to meet dl one nation at a the, starting with the weaker nations, saving the strongest for the last. Thus he has k e n able to crush smaller nations, one by one, with overwhelming superior force, Jhh victorg ad& resou- and power to German arms. If Hitler i s allowed to carry this poli to b logical conclusion, he can e v c n d y conquer the world!

Why Churchill Flew to America

But now the Democtado think they lR! finding a way to stop Hitler and win the war. That way is the way of UNIFIED ACTION. The Democracies pro se to re-

and Japan to fight a mi J democratic dc-

unified command, at once. This strategy of UNITY rpns fitst pro-

posed, not by Winston Churchill nor by President Roosevelt, but by the very 6mt victim of A x i s aggression, Chiang KaiShek in Chungking, China. He proposed it just a few days after "Pearl Harbor."

And so you can well understand the dramatic flight of Britain's Prime Minister to Washington. As a result of the labors of Mr. Churchill and Mr. Roosevelt to. gether, complete unity of action is planned and operating. Twenty-six nations signed up for i t before Mr. olurchill left Wash- ington. The unified hi h command for every front, for every fepartmcnt of the war, has been appointed.

t A x i s strategy, to counteract and nulli this new unified action, is now to m through and take one, two, or more of these giant fortress bases. For the iucccss of this new supreme nrateky of the Dcmwr rades must hinge on their abiffty ta hold intact these six vital links io their world- chain of defense and attack.

By breaking any two adjoining llnla in this world-spanning protective chain, the Axis could sever allied unification -virtu- ally cut the Democracies in two1

Yet Pearl Harbor has been crippled, and Singa ore has been taken!

Jesus answered: "An evil and ladulter- ow generation seeketh after a sign; and thcrc shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly, so Iball the Son of mm be THREB DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS in the heart of the earth." Think what this means! Jesus staked His Claim to being your Saviour and mine upon remainhg exactly THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS in the tomb. a tradition tbat DENIES Jesus is the Mes. siah!

The Dilemma of the Higher Critics This one and only supernatural PROOF

cver given by Jesus for His Messiahshi has greatly bothered the Commentators an$ the higher critics. Their attempts to explain away this sole proof for Christ's divinity drc 1udiLrms in the urtrcrnc. For. them away they must, or their ' G o ~ ~ ~ K day Raster tradition collapses!

One commentator says of course we know that. Jesus was actually in the tomb only half as long as H e thought Ha wouId be! Same expositors impose upoa our cre- dulity to the extent af asking us to believe that "in the GREEK language, in which tho New Testament was written, the ex- pression 'three days and three nights' means three PERIODS, either of day or of night!"

Jesus, the9 say, was placed in the tomb shortly behre sunset FRIDAY, and rose At Sunrise Sunday morning - two nigbls and one day,

The BIBLE Definition But the BIBL'B definition of the dura-

tion of "nights and days" Is simple. Ever\ these same higher critics admit

that in the HEBREW language, in which the hook of Jonah was written, the ex- pression "three days and tlireo nights" means a period bf 72 hours-three twelve hour days and three twelve-hour nights,

Notice Jenah 1:17: "And Jonah was in the belIy of the fish THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS." This, they admit was a period of 72 hours. And Jesas distinctly said that AS Jonah was three days and three nights in the great fish's belly, SO He would be the same length of time in His grave!

As Jonah was in the "GRAVB" (scc marginal reference, Jonah 2:2)" 72 h a after which he was supernatural1 mu- sected by God, by beiag vomitedup, to become a saviour to the people of Nineveh upon roelaiming the warning to them, SO shoula Jesus be 72 hours in His grave, thereupan being resurrected by God to be- come the saviour of the world!

Did jesus know how much time wps ia a day" and in a "night"? Jesus answered, "Are there not twelue bows in a day- but if a man walk In the NIGHT, he shun- bleth." (John 11:9-10).

Notice the BIBLE DEFINITION of thc expression, "THE THIRD DAY," Text after text tells us that Jesus sose THE THIRD DAY. See how the BIBLE defines the time required to ftilflll ''THE THIRD DAY."

In Genesis 1:4 God "divided the LIGHT from the DARKNESS, and God called the the LIGHT Day, and the DARK- ness He called Night. And the evening (darknass) and the morning (light) were THE FIRST DAY . . , end the wenhag (darkness) and the morning (light) were THE SECOND DAY, , . , and the eve ning (now three periods of darkness called NIGHT-khrrte nights) and the morning (nov three periods of light called DAY- three days) were THE THIRD RAY'' (Gen. 1;4.13),

A Heart to Heart Talk with the Editor

In this coIumn, written just for true believers, I wrote in the September-October number of the terrible persecution-even martyrdom-that impends for God's really converted people.

In Revelation 6:9-11 we are told that the plagues of God's judgment on "Baby- lon" will not be poured out until the fel- 1ow-serpaat.s of those middleage martyrs shd have been killed a :bey were!

The very qext PtpphHied event now to occur, according to Jesus' Ollvet prophecy, is that "they shall deliver yorr (true Chris- tians) up to bc af3icted, and shall kill you." [Mat. 24:3=9).

Bat, the pmphery of Revelation 12 shows that, as many of thc saints known in historg as "the Wddcnses" fled to a place of safety, to a mountain wilderness com-

letely bcpnd thc bounds of the Roman knpire, b cscnpe the middle-age e r s m

faith, so also are many of God's peopIc to bo Mkrn now, SOON, to I place of acnpa and protection.

We may be sure that God will reveal the place in some prophecy which was to be closed and sealed until this "time of the END,"-a prophecy now to be opened clearly to those thoroughly consecrated and close to God through prayer, but which no unconverted mind will understand,

Some of u9 believe we are beginning to receive, rays of light on this vital subject. Light on the PLACE we shall go-HOW we shall get there, as revealed in these mar. vrlous propliccics. When God iemoves thase accounted worthy to e ~ t u p ~ , there shall come a time of FAMINE-not of bread, but of hearing the words of the Eternal! Then men shall travel from one end of the continent to the other seeking the Word of God, but they shall not find it!

We have it, now! Do we value it? Are we grateful? Do we study, reverence, OBEY it? In the meantime, God has a great work for us to do. "This Gospel of the KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for u whneq . . . and then shall the end come." Yer, we have WORK to do!

We have examined two scriptural wit- n-a, in Matthew and in Jonah, both &= ling the duration of the body of Jesus in the tomb as three days and three nights, which the Scriptures lainly define as 72

other Scriptural witnesses that PROVE "HE S A M E THING.

Notice Mark 8:31. "And He began to tea& them that the Son oP man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elden, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and bc killed, and AFTER threcr days rise again."

Our yourre; second grader can figure this. IF Jesus had been killed on Friday, and then AFTER one duy H e had risen, the resurrectian would have occurred on Sat- urday evening, IF AFTER TWO DAYS, it, would have occurred Sunday evenin AFTER THREE DAYS, it would ve oc- curred MONDAY EVENING!

Examine this text carefully. You cannot, by any process of arithmetic. figure any less than a full 72 hours-three days and three nights-in a resurrection which occurred three days AFTER tho crucifixion! If Jesus was in the grave anly from Friday sunset to Sunday sunrise, then thb text too, must be torn out of your Bible or else you must reject Jesus Christ as our Saviour! In Matthew 27:63 Jesw is quoted u saying "AFTER THREE DAYS I will rise again." This cannot possibly bc figured as less than 72 full hours.

The TIME OF DAY of Resurrection Now notice carefully this fact: Jn order

to be t h m days and three nights-72 hours -in the tomb, o w Lurd bad to be resur- rected a1 exatlly THE SAME TIME OF DAY that His body was buried in the tomb!

Let us realize that vcry vital fact,

If we can find the TIME OF DAY of the burial, then we have found the TIME OF DAY of the resurrection! I P the burial, for instance, wa9 at sunrise, then in order to be left an even three days and three nights in the tomb the resurrection likewise had to occur at sunrise, three days later. IF the burial was at noon, the resurrection was at noon. If the burial was at sunset, the res- urrection was at sunsel; three days later.

Jesus died on the cross soon after “the ninth hour or three o’clock in the after- noon. (Mat. 27:46-S0; Mark 15:34-37; Luke 23:4646)

The crucifixion day was called “the prep- aration,” or day M o r e ”the sabbath,” (Mat. 27:62; Mark 15:42: Luke 23:54; John 19:24). This day ended at sunset, accord. ing to Bible reckoning (Lev 23:32).

Yet Jesus was buried before this same day ended-before sunset, (Mat, 2 7 3 7 ; Luke 23:52.54). John adds ‘’There laid they Jesus, therefore, because of the Jews prep- aration day.“ According to the laws ob- served by the Jews all dead bodies must be buried before the beginning of a Sabbath or feast day. Hence Jesus wits buried BE- FORE SUNSET on the same day he died. He died shortly after 3 p, rn.

Therefore --notice carefully,'- the BUR- IAI, OF CHRIST’S BODY WAS I N THE U T E AFTERNOON! It was between 3 p, m, and sunset as these Scriptures prove.

And since the RESURRECTION had to oeeur at the S M TIME OF DAY, three days later, THE RESURRECTION OP C H R I P OCCURRED, not at sunrise but JN THE LATE AFTERNOON, near sun- ~ c t ! Startling as this fact may be, it is the PLAIN BIBLE TRUTH!

If Jesus rose at any other time of day, Hc could not have been three days and three nighk in Hir grave. If Hc rose s t any other time of day, He failed to prove, by the only sign He gave that He was the true Messiah, the Son of the living Creator! Either He rose near the END of a day near sunset, or else He is not the Christll! He staked His claim on that one and only sign!

So a time-honored tradition must be shattcd! k t us praise God for His TRUTH which has been preserved through the dark ages, so that the true light may now shine forth, if our hearts and minds are still willing to receive it! Praise His name! Do you LOVE the TRUTH as it is revealed, or despise it and love the tra- ditions you have heard? “Whosoever de- rpiseth the Word shall be destroyed!” Let us say wlth David, “How praclouo also are THY thoughts unto me, 0 God!

What Day Was the Resurrection? Now which DAY OF T H E WEEK ws

the resurrection day? The first investigators, Mary Magdalene

and her corn anions, came to the sepulchre

early, while it was yet dark, as the sun W ~ S beginning to rise, a t dawn. (Mark 16:2; Luke 24:1; John 20:1),

Now here are the texts most people have SUPPOSED stated the resurrection was at sunrise Sunday marning But they do not say that!

When the women arrived, the tomb was already OPEN! At that time Sunday mom- ipg-while it was yet dark-/BUS WAS NOT THERE! Notice how the angel says “HE IS NOT HERE, BUT IS RISEN!” SCC Mark 16:6; Luke 24:3; John 2 0 9 ; Mat, 28:5-6.

Jesus was ALREADY RISEN at sun- rise Sunday morning! Of course H e was, He rose from the grave IN THE LATE AFTERNOON, near SUNSET!

And since we know the resurrection was just shortly prior to that Sunday morn- ing, and that it occurred in the late after- noon of the day, we now may know THE

RED LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON -NEAR T H E END OF THE SABBATH!

The Sabbath day ended 8t sunset, It was late on that day, before the beginning of the first day of the week, It was not, then, a Sunday resurrection at all-it was a Sab- bath resurrection!

Did Christ ]Fulfil HIS Sign? Now all this Is based on the supposition

that Jesus did fulfil His only SIGN of being three days and three nights in the grave. All our evidence is based on the claims of Jesus BEFORE His crucifixion. But some of the higher critics and doctors of divinity tell us that Jesus made a mis- take-that He was only in the tomb HALF AS LONG as He ex ected to be. Let us

the exact amount. of time in the grave Hc said He would.

Notice that in a t . 28:6, THE ANGEL OF THE LORD gives this testimony, which we now present as EVIDENCE! “He is not here: for He i s risen, AS HE SAID.” A n d He certainly did not rise AS HE SAID unless He rose a t the precise TIME that He had said! So we have the proof of the AN- GEL OF T H E LORD, recorded in the sa- csed WORD OF GOD that Jesus did ful- fil His Sign-He was three days and three nights in the cadi-He did rise Sabbath afternoon, and not Sunday morning!

Now notice carefully one more text, Matthew 28:l-6. “IN the end of the Sab- bath, as it began to dawn TOWARD the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see thq Sepulchre.” And a t that time the angeI told them “He is not here: for He i s risen as Me said,” If we accept this as a correct translation it places the time of resurrection directly JN

on the first B ap of the week (Sunday) verg

S a w modern translations render this text BS “AFTER the Sabbath”-or at dawn the first day of the week. However, wen if we acc t thrt rendering, this text becomes a f o 3 wit- ness to prove that at sunrise Sunday morn- ing H e was NOT THERE - HE HAR RISEN prior to that time. But if you accept this translation, as it i s in your Bible, you have a direct statement that Jesus’ resurp rection was before the ending of the Sab bath.

Which Day Was the Crudfition? It i s not difficult nopr to dcterminc thc

day on which Jesus was crucified, C0unting back three days from the Sabbath, when He rose, we come to Wednesday, the fourth, or very middle, day of the week.

Jesus was uucificd on WEDNESDAY, the middle day of the week, He died on the, cross shortly after 3 p. rn. that afternoon, was buried before sunset Wednesda eve-

It i s significant that in Daniel‘s proc phecy of the “Seventy we&” (Dan. 9; 24-27), Jesus was to be cut off ‘in the midst of the week” While this propbecg has the applIcatian of a day for B pear, so that this 70th week became a literal seven years, Christ being cut off’ after three and a half year’6 ministry, as He was yet it is significant that He was also ”cut off’ b~ crucifixion ON THE VERY MIDD DAY OF THE LITEML WEJEK!

Now we come to an objection some m y raise, yet the very point which PROVES this truth! Perhaps you have noticed that the Scriptures say the da AFI’ER tho crud-

Now we have shown by all four Ga= pels that the crucifixion day-Wednesday- was called “the preparation,” The repar- ation day for THE SABBATH. €&t fw WHAT Sabbath?

Me had risen the late afternoon befare, so naturally He WAS RISEN Sunday morn- ing. The text does not in any way refute the scores of other texts we have given.

Another passage that might confuse, is ~ u k e 24:21: I' , , . and bcsides all this, today is the third day SINCE THESE THINGS WERE DONE." ''Thew things" included all the events pertaining to the resurrection - the seizing of Jesus, delives ing Him to be tried, the actual crucifixion, and, finally the setting of the seal and the watch over the tomb the following day, or Thursday. Study verses 18-20, telling of "these things." and also Mat, 27;62-66. 'These things" were not completed until the watch was set, Thursday, h d the tea says Sunday was the third day SINCE THESE THINGS were done, These things were not done until Thursday, and Sunday truly was the thud day since Thursday. But it was not the third day since FRIDAY, so this text could not proye a Friday ma- fixion.

The Final Proof There is yet one final diaching PROOF

of this amazing truth. According to Mark 1&1, Mary Magda.

A comparison of these two texts PROVES there were TWO Sabbaths tbat we& with A DAY IN BETWEEN. Other- wise, these tats contradict themselves.

Four Things Usually Accepted As Sure Evidence

There arc four things g e n e d g regarded as sure evidence of a spiritual mind.

1. Speech, noise, emotioq, demonstra- tion.

2. Knowledge of the Scriptures.

4. Rigid standud of rightcorwness, It will prow interesting, and

to takr a brief look at each, an measure according to the scriptural standard.

1. The most commonly accepted mi- dencc of s irituality is the way people tallr.

2. The second class is well indoctrin- ated. Usually these folks do not believe ia much, if any, noise or any spiritual ma& festations. They have a great deal of head knowledge, but most of this dass have a great deal of misunderstanding, and often they have queer personal theories and hob- bies resulting fram mlsapplicd, wrongly- divided Scriptures.

They love to try to tra and corner others with the Scriptures, anlapeciauy d~ they delight in it if they are able to cob ner some minister. Arguin Scripture is their one great interest in li f e.

These misguided folks believe their ar- guments, contentions, and beliefs will win their eternal salvation, without real repen- tance, or living a surrendered, righteous life in Christ Jesus, showing the fruits of the Spirit in their lives,

Saved by Faith Alone And then there is the ''faith''

group, These folks say they are saved "by FAITH, and faith ALONE?' They arc not so much concerned about the Holy Spirit$ and seldom mention such things as repen- tance, utter surrender, or any need of s u b mission and obedience to God's will.

Their religion nevec works any rnirade changes in their lives, Since "Jesus died for aur sins," we do not have to obey, Just BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt bc saved is their sole condition to salvation, The invitation of the ministers of this group is "Give the preacher your hand, and the Lord your heart.

in its rebellion against God, It is the mind that, henceforth, is willing to obey God, no matter what the cost, and which continu- ally studies God's Word, not to argue and strive and tamer others, but to learn more of God's will, and to WALK in it! It is I mind FILLED to overflowing with real LOVE for God and all fellowmen-even one's enemies- and which has sympathy, patience, and kindness for others in their ideas and belicfs, their faults and mistakes, which speaks softly, gently, kindly; which seeks only to help and to serve. It is the mlod that has DIED to SEZJ.

True Spirituality The real spiritual mind can say w ~ t h

the Apostle Paul: "T am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet HOI I , but CHRIST LlVETH IN ME," (Gal. 2:20). When you can say that, then you have the mind that was in Christ Jesus.

The real spiritual mind is a SOUND mind! "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of A SOUND MIND." (I1 Tim, 1:7).

To those being carried away with a falx and pseudo-spirituality, where real manifestations of the Spirit were being counterfeited by DEMONSTRATIONS of SELF in a fanatical emotionalism, Paul, correcting them, said: "Brethren, be not children in lrndefftdndhg," (I Cor, 14:ZO) .

True, Paul said to these same Corin- thians, "I would that ye all spake with tongues, BUT," he added, "rather that ye prophesied (preached): for p a l e r is he that prophesieth (preaches) than he that speaketh, with toagues," ( I Cor, 143) .

Twu, PauI said to these overly-emotion- rl Corinthians "I s eak with tongues more than you all, YET, ' he continued, "in the church I had rather speak five words with wy rmderstrmding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue." (verses 18=19), And also he said, "God is not the ruthor of confusion,'' and "Let all things bc dons decently and in order." (Verses 33, 40).

Let us get a proper balance. Let us get io the position of their relative rcrip-

GRACE. The material promises thc Bible terms the "birthright" - meaninf RIGHT of birth. Grace means undeserve free gift, not right by birth. The two sets of Abra- hamic promises are as far apart in nature IU the two poles. It is well understood that the "Sceptre" promise- the spiritual prom- ise of GRACE, including a line of kings culminating in Christ, through whom grace was to come to all nations-went to Judah. Consequently Jesus said "Salvation is of the Jews:" and Paul used the ex resslon 'TO the Jew first, end also to the &ntile." The United States in Prophecy PART FIVE

Israel's New Lanil We are read now, to search out the

cast Housc of Israel. We know they exist today as a nation, and a company of nations; powerful; looked upon as Gentiles. And when we h d them, we shall find a kin stilf today occupying the throne of Davif!

M a y passages of prophecy tell of these peo fe iu these latter days. Prophecies not to !c understood until this %me of the end." Prophecies containing a Message to be carried to these people by those to whom God reveals it!

P i it is necessary to 6x in mind these fasts:

The prophet Amos wrote, in the d a p of the 13th of the Xg kings of the House of Israd, (Amos 1:I) : "Behold the eyes of the Lord are upon the sinful kingdom (How- of Israel-Judah had not yet sinned), snd 1 will destroy it (the kingdnm, or government, not the people) from off the fare of the carth, For, lo, I will corn- rmnd, and I will sift the H o w of Israel among d nations, like as corn is sifted in I Sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.'' (Amos 9:8-9).

Tbis prophecy usually is applied to tho scattered condition of the Jews. But it has nothing to do with the Jcws, or the House of JUDAH,, but refers to ten-tribed House of lSRAEL- driven to Assyrian captivity, then migrating from there and scattering moag other nations BEFORE the Jews were taken to Babylon. This prophecy says that ISRAEL, (not Judah), was to be sifted among other nations- these Israelites losing their identity-yet God has protected and kept them-"not the least grain shall fall

days without a king," (Hos. 3:4). That the people did sift thru all nations is clear, Many New Testament passages indicate this. Although many of them still were scattered among various nations in the first centuq, A, D., a portion of them had become estab lished in a definite location of their own by Jeremiah's time-131 years after their orig- inal captivity.

But these Israelites who possessed the Birthright eventually were to come to a new land of their own, Jehovah says, in II Sam uel 7:10, and I Chron, 1 7 ~ 9 ; "Moreover, I w;U ap int a place for my yplt and w f P L A " f THEM," ( eremiah was commissioned to do the PWNTING of the throna among rhccq,) ,"that they may dwell In a place of their own and move no more," The context of the whole passa e shows this

What Has Gone Before: W E R E is the United States mentioned

in nible prophecy? To answer we must first go back to the beginning 04 the stran- gest, most fascinating story ever told, that of God's chosen people, Israel.

Few have noticed that the promises God made unconditionally to Abraham were TWO-fold: First, material promises of RACE. "Thou shalt be the father of MANY NATIONS," God promised. The Jews are but one nation. These material, national promises of RACE the Bible calls the "BIRTHRIGHT," nn inherited right by birth. Under the BIRTHRIGHT, God prom- ised Abraham for his fleshly descendants the nptional wealth, resources, and great- ness that have become ours since 1800 A.D.

Second, God gave Abraham apidtua! promises of GRACE - E dynasty of kings, culminating ~ I I Christ to become Kin of kings-the "one seed" (Gal. 8:8, l6), !hru whom ALL hations a m to be blessed-sal- vation, eternal life. Thie promise the Bible calls the SCEPTRE. The SCEPTRE was given to JUDAH, of whioh tribe Jesus was born, (Gen. 49:10), but the BIRTHRIGHT was JOSEPH'S! (1 Chron. 5:2 . two sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manas- seh, (Gen. 48), Jacob said: "Let my name (ISRAEL) be named on them , , . and let them mow into a multitude." (the "many

nation, God made an UNconditional, unal- ternble covenant e t h King David (tribe of Judah), guaranteemg a perpetual dynasty thru all enerations FOREVER. The world believes &at dynasty ceased in 685 B.C.

Later the BIRTHRIGRT and SCEPTRE were divided into TWO NATIONS. Israel rejected King Rehoboam of David's dynasty. Two tribes, JUDAH and Benja- min only, split off from Israel, remained under Jerusalem rule of Rehoboam, weru called "The House of JUDAH," nicknamed "JEWS," possessing the SCEPTRE. Of them Christ was born, But the ten tribes, headed bv Ephraim and Manasseh, possess- inR the BIRTHRIGHT, retained the name "House of ISRAEL," never were called "Jew8." Thev were cafiied captive to As- Syria, 121 B: C., later migrating north an;

Israel. The prophet Jeremiah was divinely commiesionqd as mediary, to tear down in Jerusalem, then BUILD and PLANT else- where, David's throne. Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon invaded Judaea killed all the sons of King Zedekiah and a11 princes and nobles o f Judah. Zedekiah died in Babylon leadng:, as the world supposed, no heir to David'# throne. Then Jeremiah, performing the sec- ond half of his divine commission, went to King Zedekiah's daughters. With Baruch, his scribe, they were taken captive to Egypt, where they escaped, returned to Jerusalem, and from there . . . "the rem- nant that escaped of the House of Judah shnll AGAIN TAKE ROOT DOWNWARD, AND REAR FRUIT UPWARD," said the propheoy of Isaiah 87:3281. "In ISRAEL will I plant it." (Ezek. '17:23). WHERE was ISRAEL thenl and where now?

Pthcr, after being removed from the prom. iscd land of Palestine, and while that land wa lying idlo and In possession of Gentiles,

Notice carefully! After being removed from Palcstine, being sifted amm all nations, abiding many days without a%n& losing their identity, they are to be "planted" in a far-away strange land now to become their own. And, NOTE 'IT!-&r caching this placs, /hey brs t~ mow no morel That is, of caurssc, during this prcmt world.

While dhcr Prophecies Indicate thesc Birthright holders were to become a coIon. izing people, spreading around the world, it is plain that the spreading out must be from this appointed place, which mrtst re= main the "home" scat of government for David's throne.

Mark this cleady! Once this "place of their own" was reached, and the thronn of David planted there, THEY WERB TO MOVE NO MORE, Therefore, tbe lordion of ibis eo le TODAY is thr place where

ther out uf thg land of tbs norrh to the Ed that"1 have iven for an inhcritancc unto your fathers.' At the future Jlxodus, at Christ's coming, they arc to return ta Palestine out of the land of the NORTH!

After saying, "How shall I give thee up, Ephnim?" the Eternal, speaking thru Hasea, says; "then the children shall trem- ble from :be WEST." (Hos. 11 :R,I 9).

Again: '"Behold, I will bring them from tbr no& co#n:ry, and gather them from tbe coar:s of :he earlb." (Jer, 31:8), This prophecy is for conslderation In the "latter days" (Jer. 30:24; 31:1), and is addressed 10 "Israel," (verses Z., 4, 9,) to "Ephraim," (versus 6, 9 ) , and "Samaria," (verse 5) . Here is added another hint- "the coasts of the ulrlh"-midently they are dominant at SCa.0

Referring to the House of JSRAEL {not Judah), (Is&& 43:3,6), God sap: "Behold these shall come from far: and lo, these from :ha NORTH and rom :bs WEST:

12). In the Hebrcw, the laoguage in which this was ori iaally Inspired, there is na word for "NORhT," but this term is des= ignsltd by the phrase, "the north and the west." It means, literally, the NORTH- WEST! The VuIgata renders "Sinim" as "Austmli," or "Australia." Sa we now have the location NORTHWEST of JERU. SAUM!

Hence, Israel of TODAY-Israel of the day of Jeremiah'$ "planting" of David's throne-is located specifically as NORTH, WEST of JEFWSAtEM, and M THE SEA!

Let us h t c this land more spedhcaJly! The m e 49th chapter of Isaiah begins

with this: "Listen, 0 Zrlcr, w t o me" The people addressed Israel, arc called "0 Isles" m the first verse a d "0 Israel In the 3rd

In ]a. 31:7, tha message to be^ dcclnred "in the isles afar off' (verse lo), is to be ohouted Ia 'the C€€IEF OF THE NA. TIQNS."

turned from His comandments, took up with the ways of the Gentiles around them They were righteous in their own !yes- even as we today. But evil sinners in the sight of God-even as we today! So the House of JSRAEL-the ten tribes who carried the Birthright-were driven into captivity, taken by Shalrnanezer to Assyria, in 721 B.C. For 2,520 Iang yms the Bkth- right inheritance was denied our race- because of disobedience.

But God had promised Abraham m ronditianally. The remise must be kept. That is wh God knited the punishment during whicK the material blessings should be withheld. T h e 2520 year limit expired in 1800 A.D, Beginning that year two little insignificant nations began suddenly to spurt to riches and material possessions in a manner unparallelled in all history. By 1804 London had become the finanual hub of the world, We grew rich and powerful. In war we always blundered, the Britisb always "muddled through"- but somehow things always seemed to "break" for us- and we aIways WM that last battle!

Birthright fathers 2520 Iong yeats because they dis- obeyed the Eternal God, WE are disobey. ing His commandments as grievously as any generation of the past!

How We Break God's Laws Today we are a self-righteous nation,

We exhalt ourselves fat our righteousness, look with contempt upon "the poor hca. then." We boast of the missionaries we

send to other lands tho number of Bibla we print. Our laad is full of churches- &) it is full of idah, tool And today we are AT WAR, facing HARD TIMES just ahead!

Here is our prophetic desctiptlon, Paul wrote it to Timothy:

"Mark this, there arc HARD TIMES coming in the last days. For men will be selfish, fond af money, boastful, haughty, abusive, disobedient to their parents, um grateful, irrwerent . . they will be treach. erous, reckless and conceited, prrfming p7mur8 to God-for though t h y keep nb 4 form of rejigion, they will have nothifig to do with it as a FORCE." (I Tm, 3:l-5) a

Yes, our land is full of churches. SO people join a church, and think they have it aU fixed with Gad! Then they go ahcsd and siill have other gods before the 6 ~ - ator-stiU put worldly pleasure, material desires, their business, profession, ~odd or worldly interests FIRST in their h- and relegate the Kingdom of God to ondary interest. of idalatry by idolizing their particular dc- nomination.

They itit! take God's name in rtrtn- yes, even in their churches, by calling u p His name while their hearts #re far from Him. "in vain," Jesus said, "do they worm ship me teaching for doctrines the corn

Anyno wonder! For these are the days when the congregations demand of their pastors "preach not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things!"--a people in these last days who will not hear the law of the Lord (Isa. 30:8.10). SINS WERE INCREASED!" says God. UNLESS America quickly WAKES UP,

repents, turns to God and puts her faith in Him, the punishment we already are suffering in greater and harder doses from week to week shall continue until there is invasion, defeat-and utter SLAVERY!

It i3 prophesied. It is in the BIBLE! GOD HAS SPOKEN!

America is being warned -through The PLAIN TRUTH - through the Radio Church of God-as Nineveh was warned by Jonah. Nineveh repented - and was spared. Oh, America- God's chosen people Israel-awake today, repent, and be s ared!

Today we are not blundering an%mud. d ing our way to victory, BUT TO DE- FEAT! Week by week it is happening! As a man said recently, "I can't understand it, It seems that everything we do goes wrong." Always it is the same story, "Too few2 and too late!"

CRUEL ONE -why? '"BECAUSE THY

WHY the Germans and Japs Are PREPARED!

T h i s is not "just another war." Presi. dent Roosevelt has told the nation that this war is utterly unlike any war before,

see the handwriting on the wall, heed thc warning, and repent? Or must we suffer MORE ?

"For, behold, in those Jays, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivi of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather AL NATIONS, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat." (Joel 3:l-2) Nottce, the time is NOW!

And now notice verses 9-11: "Prnclaim ye this among th8 gentile^, PREPARE WAR , . . beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into s ears: let the we& (the 'have-not nations$ say, I am strong, Assemble yourselves and come, all ye heathen."

And so the Ja s and the Germans are

Gad ordained. We have sent repeated ship- loads of our old plowshares-dd junk and scrap iron-over to Japan. She has beaten it into implcmcnts of WAR-and the first bomb lobbed by a Jap sub over California soil was filled with old rusty safety-razor blades, and other sctap of American manu- facture, We are beginning to get our scrap- iron back! It i s bappsning'exactly a j GOD SAID I

But now it appears this Ii annot win-may cum lose tbr war I YEAR, unless som change is made! For to deto the Japs have conquered an Empire of fm- mensc riches - have became a self=refirnt Empire holding much former American wealth-and Jap losses in proportion to

ins have k e n extremely rmall! Instead of Eing weakened, Japan is growing stmngcr every day. The question of the hour now is, does America yet DARE to take the affen- sivc? It begins to appear that only by talc* ing the offensive, AT ONCE. can we prc- vent disaster. But we atill lack the trained men, the tanks, thc supplies, the planes, the ships, for this! In men, e m tmb, planes, and gwu we arc outnumbered by the ratio of 13 to 5.

Yet America appears to bc placing AEl her faith in MATERIAL armament-and in men. General MacArthur has done I heroic job, and so now many bqin to make him their gad "Madrthur will saw Australia," many have said, on hearing of his dramatic escape from Bataan.

But ARMIES DO NOT WIN WARS! Listen! "The Eternal wrccks the pur-

pan, of pagans. He brings to nothing what the nations plan . . . "he Eternal looks down from heavan . . , from where He sits, H e scans all who Inhabit the world; ARMIES DO NOT BRING VImORY TO A KING, the warrior is rescued by sheer strength, cavalry are in vain for vic- tov, them ir no winn?nng by the rtrun h 4 rhr/ NQ, thc Eternal's y e rests on $is worshippers, who rest their hopes u n His kindness, that HE may mc## 1 r 8m from dsuth." (Psalm 33:lO-19, Moffatt translation.)

What We Lack America today needs TOTAL defense!

And that means more than material wea ons and men--it means thc WHOLE A t MOR OF GOD-it means SPIRITUAL rearmament.

Today America lurks thr SPIRIT! The Germans are fighting as impired men with a loyalty to their "fuehrer" wc cannot seem ta understand. But all true Bible rtudenb aught to understand. For Hitter Is the "Beast" of Revelation -supernaturally in- spired by Satan (Rev, 13:2,4). without Him, and His power, America cannot win this time1

Yet America has forgotten God! We hava turned from Him and His command- ments. We ding to mere empty FORM of nligion-but Gad Is not the empowerillg FORCE in our lives! Today America is taking one lidring

In love, God is now taking measures to bring us to repentance and a different way of life that will bring happiness to all.

This nation -including ~ Q H , ersooall -MUST SHORTLY NOW s& Cod QvaRao! In one of two ways this shall happen. Either we must immediately sur- tender to God and His laws, or, week after week, the material pressure will be iocrcascd. Wcck after wcek we shall con- tinue to !ox battles, Week after week God will continue to takc away from our people the automobiles, the radio sets, the electric refrigerators, the gadgets, the fine clothes, the luxuries we have placed as other gods before Him!
