A CASE OF MEASLES AT KINROSS COLLEGE The College has been recently notified of a case of Measles within the Year 8 student cohort. For further information and advice on what to look for and how to treat this condition please follow this link to the Department of Health - HealthyWA website.

SUBJECT SELECTIONS WAITLISTS You may have found that some subjects had already filled when you chose your child’s subjects for next year. Please forward an email or note to Mr Avenell to add your child to a waitlist of any subject/s they would like to have chosen but were unable to do so. The College may be able to manipulate the timetable to hopefully suit more students once all courses and waitlist options have been selected.

If you have not already chosen subjects for next year then we advise you to do so promptly as subjects are getting filled. If your child cannot find what they are looking for please choose 6 subjects anyway, as there will more than likely be an opportunity to change subjects at the start of next year.

If you are unable to access the internet at home then please notify the College so we can assist your child at school with their selections. Tel: 9306 6000 Email: [email protected]

Year 10 Subject Selection Book 2018 - Selections deadline was Thursday 27 July 2017 Year 9 Subject Selection Book 2018 – Selections deadline was Thursday 3 August 2017 Year 8 Subject Selection Book 2018 - Selections deadline is Thursday 10 August 2017

The Soccer Program elective for Year 8 & 9 in 2018, as it appears in the Subject Selection books, will go ahead but entrance into this program is selective, based on performance during trials. This subject was not included on the SSO system for this reason. Please continue with subject selections and choose all 6 elective subjects. At this point in time we do not know when the trials will happen. Please forward your child's interest in the program to Mr Pete Scrivens, Head of Physical Education: [email protected]

UNIFORM Only Kinross College uniform items, as purchased from the College uniform supplier are allowed at the College. With the colder weather here please be sure your child has the correct jumper/jacket to wear while on College grounds. The same message is applicable to those students wearing non-uniform shorts. We will continue to push the standard of dress, as requested by parents and we appreciate your assistance and support in this matter.

Uniform Concepts: 5/7 Delage Street, Joondalup, WA 6027 Tel: 9270 4660 Email: [email protected] Open: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm (Thursday 6pm) Saturday 9am – 1pm

UNIFORM CONCEPTS Uniform Concepts will be closed for the first week of the school holidays, from Monday 25 September and re-open on Monday 2 October.

A CASE OF HEAD LICE We have recently been informed of a case of head lice within the Year 7 cohort. Please check your child at home this evening and treat if necessary. For further information please visit: http://healthywa.wa.gov.au/Articles/F_I/Head-lice

SECOND HAND UNIFORM RESALE PROGRAM

Uniform items currently available: One dress, some bomber jackets and a pair of track pants for sale, all in good condition. Please contact Mr Avenell if you are interested: [email protected] About the resale program: This year we are setting up a re-sale program whereby the more expensive uniform items (dresses, cardigans, bomber jackets and soft-shell jackets) can be dropped back to the College with contact details and a nominated price that parents want to sell the item for (attached to the garment).

Once the uniform item is sold, the cash will be forwarded onto the person who donated the garment, minus $5 which will be forwarded to the P&C.

Should the items remain unsold after 12 months, they will be donated to the College.

We hope that this process will make school uniforms more affordable for some of our families, assisting all students in following the Dress Code and also helping the environment.

Enquiries and garments can be directed to Mr John Avenell, Associate Principal. [email protected] or call the College on 9306 6000.

Please bring garments to the front office with a stamped and self-addressed envelope securely attached. Please ensure your name, address and nominated cost of the garment is clearly visible.

CHANGES TO MINIMUM AGE FOR WHOLE BLOOD DONATIONS The Australian Red Cross Blood Service advises that, from 14 January 2018, the minimum age for whole blood donations will increase from 16 to 18 years of age.

WOOLWORTH’S EARN & LEARN STICKERS We are again registered, as a school, with Woolworths to collect the Earn & Learn stickers. If you shop at Woolworths during this period (26 July - 19 September) please collect the stickers and forward to the College office or, if available in local stores, post your stickers into a Kinross College named collection box. If you shop online then you are able to allocate your tokens to Kinross College.

Last year, thanks to all those stickers kindly donated from our families and community, we were able to acquire some fantastic construction sets and games that many of our students enjoy using during recess and lunchtime activities in the Library. Check out the students' K'Nex masterpiece in motion on our Facebook page. Thank you for your support.
