the American Automobile Association and the General Petroleum Corp., sponsors of therace, have asked Tech men tobe official observers. The ideafor the use of Tech men in thisimportant role was originatedby Mr. A. C. Pillsbury of theAAA, who was impressed withthe operation of our honor system. For several years obtaining disinterested persons toserve as observers was quite aproblem, until Mr. Pillsburyasked Dr. Peter Kyropoulos ofthe Engineering Department ifit would be possible for Techstudents to handle the job. Heading into the home stretchof the current scrc basketballrace, Tech stands a good chanceof copping second place. By thetime this paper hits the standsthe Oxy contest will be historyand it is hoped it will be forthe best. This crucial contestwill be (was?) held Tuesday atPCC gym. The big one will beon Saturday when Tech tanglesrwith Redlands at 7:15 as thefirst of a twin bill involving Oxyand Pomona.
Good ChanceRedlands beat Oxy by twenty
points on their floor last weekand hold a lead for second place. However, they meet the leagueleading Poets this Thursday andare decidedly underdogs. Oxy'sonly hope is a tie for secondwith the Dogs and Tech, butthe Beavers can run away withthe thing if they win these lasttlWo contests.
Last game, Seniors!Redlands is lead by "Squeek"
Davis and center Edmondson. They are not an exceptionallygoo d team anywhere but ontheir home court and can easilybe beaten. Tech is better manfor-man at almost every posi·tion.
