Transcript of Nme double page analysis
heading Heading is a pun; the name of the band (The Yeah Yeah Yeahs) is incorporated to the phrase “Year Of Dragon” and made into “Yeah Yeah Yeah of the Dragon”
The article is about the bands trip to China and so the heading is decorated accordingly; with a Chinese dragon and the republic of China flag behind it forming a banner across the page
The heading font size is large and so contributes to it’s eye-catching style
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs also have a song called “Dragon Queen” and so the heading cleverly uses Dragon; also suggesting the article could be targeted for people that listen to and know the band
straplineThe name of the band is highlighted in red and so keeps the focus on them
Also uses the name of a band member, assuming all who read know them
Photos and editorialThe borders around these pictures are similar to that of Chinese characters and so ties in well with the entire Chinese theme of the feature.
The white “cut out” border around some of the images does well to reinforce the look of a holiday scrap book; relating back to the strapline and the reference to a photo album.
Polaroids again link to the style of a photo album
Generally quite busy and space is filled, looking messy; similar to a scrapbook
A section of text is assgined to each photo and elaborates on them making it easy to navigate around the text; assuming that the audience has a short attention span and may just want ot skim read to important bits
