Action
Every BU must have an established H&S Committee in place that meets monthly and documents
minutes/actions
BU must have a "Permit to Work" system for all high risk activities (eg - confined space/earthworks/hot work)
Risk Assessment/Job Safety Analysis must be completed for all job functions and all key operational processes
BU's must have an emergency response plan in place (fire/explosion/chemical spillage)
All accidents, incidents, near misses, etc... must be documented at shift hand over
Toolbox talks/safety briefings take place at the start of each shift cycle
Minimum 3 container separation between lashers and operated stack
All lashers must work in pairs
Safety Induction training/briefing is conducted for all staff, visitors and sub contractors on initial entry to the
facility

BU's handling IMDG cargo have at least 1 person available who is IMDG certified
Each operational shift must have at least 1 person on duty who is certified in lifting and rigging
PPE is required to be worn by everybody entering operational areas (appropriate head gear, footwear, and
high visibility vest)
Fall arrest gear is available, workforce trained, and in use.
Life vest/FPD are required and in use for all waterside exposed work areas
Seat belts must be worn at all times when operating any vehicle inside an APM Terminals facility
All equipment has a "Lock Out Tag Out " system in place
All loose lifting gear must be inspected before and after use
All lifting equipment must be regularly load tested in accordance with manufacturers guidelines
Speed limiting devices installed and in-use in all CHE's for max 30 Km/H (lower can apply)
Air cage(s) are in place and used for the inflation of newly assembled wheels and tires up to size 1200-24
Fire protection systems must be properly maintained and inspected regularly
Operational areas are clearly marked (e.g. Signage, lane markings, high visibility paint, etc)
All personnel working on foot in operational areas have physical barrier protection in place (e.g Jersey
Barriers)
All access to/from operational areas must take place in vehicles/shuttle bus etc
