I have dedicated my last 10 years to understand what is missing from guided solutions, why it does not become a part of our routine. Starting from the research perspective I learnt that our patients benefit a lot when we use some kind of guidance in our surgeries. In my clinical years I have realized that it is not so easy to implement existing systems in our daily work. This realization led to the dedication to create a solution which makes guided surgery fitting into the everyday clinical work for any case. Our aim was to design a workflow that allows clinicians to exclusively focus on dental professional tasks. The heart of SMART Guide is a completely re-designed network of technology platforms, which makes automatic online services possible. This ensures predictability and high quality – things that we clinicians need when treating our patients.

Dr. Endre Varga is a dentist and oral surgeon. His pro-fessional focus is long-term implant and prosthetic stability. He has a PhD degree in computerized treat-ment planning. He was a research fellow at the AO Research Institute in Davos where he became an ex-pert in digital modelling. He is an author of several scientific publications and a regular speaker in front of international audience. He is the founder and CEO of dicomLAB.

„No Kit” Surgical Guide

How to joinTo start with SMART Guide you fi rst have to follow the certifi cation course. After you have regis-tered for the course you will receive a link with ‘limited’ access to your online account. To prepare for the certifi cation course, you must fi rst take a course online to have a certain basic knowledge before the start of the course. (Maximum time spent about 1.5 hours).

During this course you will learn the theoretical and practical workfl ow of the SMART Guide sys-tem. By means of theoretical presentations, case discussion, software use and hands-on sessions on artifi cial models, you will learn the entire workfl ow from start to fi nish. After the course you are a certifi ed SMART Guide user. Your online account will be activated the same day so that you can immediately start treatment with the SMART Guide system.

You have two options for following the certifi cation course. Option 1 is a one-day course in the Netherlands. Option 2 is according to the two-day course in Hungary. During the course in Hungary, you will be given the opportunity to do the second day of the treatment protocol from beginning to end under supervision. After the information you receive about your patient, you will make the treatment plan for this patient using the SMART Guide workfl ow. Finally, you implant this patient according to the SMART Guide treatment protocol. A unique opportunity to gain your fi rst experience under the watchful eye of SMART Guide specialists!
