FAMILY SAFARIS Watching the wide-eyed delight on your
child’s face as their first elephant
saunters by, is a life-long memory for any
parent.
The magical world of safaris is far from
an exclusive playgrounds for adults, many
camps and lodges embrace our little
ones, and offer specially designed
activities to create the most amazing fun
filled days.
From game drives to identifying animal
tracks, baking in the camp kitchen or
making your very own bow & arrow, kids
of all ages are catered for.
Throughout South Africa there are great
game lodges welcoming families in
Malaria free areas, whilst for those
venturing to Zambia, Botswana or maybe
Tanzania, medications are much
improved and are suitable for even our
youngest explorers.
Safety is always uppermost in the minds
of the lodge managers. There are rooms
adapted for families, located closest to
the central areas, additional bedrooms
next to parents’ rooms and are often
fenced to ensure small ones stay in and
big things stay out!
After a safari adventure of a lifetime, why
not head for the beach? South Africa,
Mauritius, Zanzibar or Mozambique all
make for a perfect family chill out.
Once again there are activities just for
kids, dedicated clubs, water sports,
swimming pools and of course an
endless supply of sand castle building
materials.
So whatever the requirements, Big 5,
counting elephants, tracking with the
Masai or watching fledgling turtles head
to the open water, we can make it all
possible for you.

UGANDA - A New View
NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 2015 call: 0161 789 8838
The inaugural Uganda Marathon, 24
May 2015, a ‘Race like no other’ is a
fantastic event which will work to
raise funds through runners’
sponsorships, for local community
projects across the country, and it’s
still not too late to enter! Visit
www.ugandamarathon.com to find
out more or donate.
A marathon is certainly a different
way to see part of this beautiful
country, however, for the rest of us
mere mortals, a guided safari is
definitely more achievable. But
where to start? Much is known and
written about the many groups of
majestic Mountain Gorillas and a trek
to see them is a must, however this
country offers so much more than you
might imagine.
Throughout the Western region,
visitors are afforded a huge wealth of
possibilities. The Queen Elizabeth
National Park is a lush green
landscape incorporating wetlands,
rainforest and savannah plains,
providing a real haven for over 600
bird species, great herds of elephant
and buffalo, as well as numerous
types of antelope.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one
of ‘the’ destinations for gorilla
trekking. However, visitors will be
delighted to find great numbers of
chimpanzees, many monkey
varieties and elephants.
Other highlights we highly
recommend include Rwenzori
Mountain National Park for
hiking and bird watching, and
Kibale National Park which is
home to 13 primate species
including L’Hoests and red
colobus monkeys.
At just 55 kms from the capital,
Entebbe, the calm waters of Lake
Victoria await. The perfect
destination for relaxing, birding
and fishing. Alternatively take time
to visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary
& Wildlife Conservency Trust to
observe the crucial work to
protect the many orphaned
chimps.

What’s new? With immediate effect the South African Department of Health has lifted its
requirement for visitors travelling between Zambia and South Africa to hold a valid
Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate.
Namiri Camp is in a remote and exclusive region of the world famous Serengeti.
Closed to the public for 20 years, the area was reserved for creating a safe haven and
research station for the area’s big cats. Asilia Africa are now custodians of the area and
have sole use, therefore offering unique walking safaris and huge predator populations.
&Beyond announce that their newly acquired Benguerra Lodge will be opening its
doors in June 2015. Having undergone an extensive refurbishment, the outstanding
levels of luxury and comfort expected for an &Beyond property will certainly be
evident here.
