Students ARE NOT permitted to bring in or consult any study materials of whatever sort except CLEAN COPIES OF RELEVANT STATUTES on the day they will write the test. 2. On the test date, you will be told which TWO of the THREE questions you are specifically to attempt. Each question shall be marked out of 15 MARKS. 3. Students are expected to carry with them a maximum of empty 6 (SIX) RULED sheets of papers to write on their answers. 4. Answers that are clearly well thought out and supported with examples and authorities shall attract higher marks.

CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

INSTRUCTIONS

1. This is a partially open book take home course work test. Students

ARE NOT permitted to bring in or consult any study materials of whatever

sort except CLEAN COPIES OF RELEVANT STATUTES on the day they will

write the test.

2. On the test date, you will be told which TWO of the THREE questions

you are specifically to attempt. Each question shall be marked out of 15

MARKS.

3. Students are expected to carry with them a maximum of empty 6

4. Answers that are clearly well thought out and supported with

examples and authorities shall attract higher marks.

QUESTION ONE

Critically examine and discuss with appropriate examples the hierachy and

jurisdiction of Uganda’s criminal justice system.

QUESTION TWO

‘To be granted a bond or ‘bail is an automatic right by either the Police or

a Court of Law respectively’. Critically examine the validity of the above

statement with specific reference to criminal practise in Uganda as guided

by both statutory law and relevant case law.

QUESTION THREE

‘There are different ways of compelling an accused person to attend

court.’ Discuss the validity of the above statement with close reference to

statutes and case law.

QUESTION FOUR

With reference to the law applicable, discuss the roles / fucntions played

by the Police, IGG and DPP in Uganda’s criminal justice system.
